I would be using a different beta. I am on 95045 I think it is? And it works fine. It's best to not just go and download the latest beta, you will generally have a bad time. Look at what the majority of servers that have a full population are using, and get that. Maybe try a full reinstall with an older beta?

Team up with people you can actually trust, then you won't need to be so proactive. As for what to do when you see a player, it depends entirely. Most of the time you can avoid contact altogether. But otherwise, just take it as it comes. You don't have to wait for them to shoot you first before you fire back, but you can watch their behaviour and figure out how much of a threat they are.

Yeah, its pretty annoying, especially if you've hidden a tent nicely after several tries.... "oh what's this? A tent city that I can see from 500m away? :D :D:D" Also, after a restart, the tents often "settle" and move location slightly, making them harder to access sometimes. Yes, save it everytime you add or remove stuff.

Oh ok. I just thought if it was a steam game, you might as well run it through steam and get the overlay etc. That's what I do. What beta are you running, how is that set up?

That wasn't overly helpful. Yes tents are a little bugged. Did you save the tents after filling them with gear? If not, then the gear won't stay there. Also, at the moment, any tents you put up and take down again, reappear when the server restarts.

I fully understand the problem, and I get we get separated all the time at night... or rather I get separated lol. But yeah, torches. If the guy in front has a torch, or gun with a torch, and has it on, and is running, then you can still a little flicker moving backwards and forth on the ground. Usually this works well enough.

That's the first part that stands out to me. That should be in the launch details on steam, not in the beta icon in the folder. If that's what you're referring to.
