  1. Yeah, this would be fun with a few waypoints added in too - and have a horde run towards your location. Would be good target practice.
  2. Man, this makes me wonder, has anyone tried throwing empty cans / whiskey bottles at another player? Like if you are in a building looking down into the street. Could be a pretty devious way to put the hurt on someone...
  3. I like where this is going, sounds like a pretty good fix to me. Would really tamp down on egregious use of server hop farming as well. However, it could be exploited a bit - if a person is done looting a city, he could log out and log back into the same server and presto! he is outside the city limits. I don't think that would be as bad as the current exploits however.
  4. Ha that sounds like fun. I hope you were ranting and raving through the direct voice chat too!
  5. I actually like playing a game where the rules change. Keeps things fresh and interesting. With most games, you figure out the mechanics pretty quickly and the rest of the game is grind, grind, grind. Here, it keeps you thinking and adapting. I wish more people would appreciate that.
  6. Well... I want to say that this is easy to do but it only works well with one zombie' date=' and specific trees. You also have to dance like a stripper sometimes to get him stayed on the other side of the tree. It CAN be difficult, and it's definitely not something that breaks the game. So hopefully rocket will grant us this ability to evade. :3 [/quote'] Seems like it is working as intended - since a zombie will be at your heels the entire time I don't see any other way of breaking their line of sight, aside from doing the indoor bait and switch.
  7. Yep, that'll win him over to your point of view.
  8. Howdy all, Just a word of warning, a hacker just wiped out Seattle 8. First, all primary and secondary item inventories were wiped clean (backpacks and tools spared). Then, several minutes later all players on the server instantly died - no falling death like I've seen before, just everyone keeling over and insta-dying. One of the guys I was playing with says he heard a distinct, but quiet rock beat playing in the background right before it happened. We were out in the woods and it wouldn't have been direct chat. I did not hear the music. So if you hear rock music playing out of nowhere, for seemingly no reason, I highly recommend disconnecting. I'm sure the hacker will be looking for other servers to ruin. Good luck out there and stay frosty. -Sneed
  9. YES. This is a great idea, and well worth experimenting with. Also, not knowing exactly what your humanity number will make players play to the actions they take, and not play to the numbers.
  10. I'm not loving the whole psychology suggestion. It is an interesting way to provide incentive to play altruistically, but it is so abstract and I couldn't see it easily rooted in useful gameplay mechanics. Furthermore, how could you tell if a mass murderer would be mentally affected by his/her actions? As someone else here said, the most successful mass murderers are sociopaths who lack empathy and have no basis for feeling bad about their murderous deeds. A character who is able to rack up 100 kills in game would probably be more likely to be unaffected by mental breakdowns - the previous 99 kills didn't stop him from changing his ways, why should the 100th!? Seems to me like mental breakdowns would most likely occur with inherently good/altruistic players who have committed one or two murders and are deeply regretting it - not exactly the kind of balance we are looking for (with the focus being more on players who rack up insane numbers of murders)
  11. I thought someone documented a significant increase in murder rates after bandit skin removal?
  12. I got Ghillie suit --> Ocean. I play 1.7 without the Arma2 beta installed, so maybe that was what did it. However, I survived the swim back to shore with my newfound suit. I lost a lot of good equipment, but survived to tell the tale, and now I feel like I REALLY earned my suit.

For the LOST fans out there.

Can others see the logo that you have on it? Would be a cool way of showing ownership within the Z of Day...

Is there a voice chat guide?

Anyone else unable to use their microphone with Arma2? My microphone works great with all other programs, but Arma does not seem to recognize it. I've searched the BI websites and have found very little. I've tooled around with all the audio settings, made sure that my mic is the primary (and only) audio input device, and it still gets no love. And in the settings, is that microphone volume test supposed to work? When I press the button, even if I yell into the mic the thing runs 0%-100% without recognizing any input. I assume this thing wouldn't reach 100% if Arma2 was recognizing my microphone? Thanks for any and all help.

    Getting kicked-Please assist

Did you try temporarily taking out the DayZ launch options before reinstalling Battleye? This seems to screw with the BattleEye reinstall, I've found (steam version here, but it might cause issues in other versions too?)

    Camo safe yet?

It is not safe. Found a Ghillie suit on Friday, equipped it, logged out. This afternoon (sunday) I log in, find myself in the ocean. I was able to swim back to shore, Southeast of the normal boundaries of Chernarus. I was starving and dehydrated the whole way, and lost ~6000 blood. Fortunately my backpack wasn't lost in the water, so I was able to eat/drink once on land. Lost my AK, 1911, and all the good stuff not in the backpack. Still pleased that I survived it, and my 1.5 week old survivor is still going strong!

    I found a Radio

Well everyone went crazy over the idea of it, so there's a pretty good chance the devs took note, and hopefully we'll see something real in the future!
  18. It'd be awesome to take part in a big operation. I'd like to help out as a guard, so shoot me a message.
