I seem to remember the 5th being mentioned as the maintenance/patch day. But that might have changed if they ran into some unexpected issues. -
Did something just happen to the character servers?
BadassPreacher replied to Kushko's topic in General Discussion
Mah long range scope! :( You will be missed... Though I haven't logged in yet to confirm this, but I have no reason to doubt a wipe of some kind before the update. Oh well, back to scavenging :) -
A cure that worked for my character, was to get out of the Fraggers.inc server :D

I wonder how people would feel about blood trails that would fade off in a while. For example if you got into a fight, and made the other guy bleed and he started running away like a madman. You could then follow the blood trails and track him down until he bandaged himself. Now these trails wouldn't be obvious or paint the streets red, but with some practice you could track someone down fairly effortlessly. Unless they ran in circles or something to throw you off :) Second thing I was thinking about, was the scent of blood and zombies. Currently zombies are an annoyance instead of a threat, and I realize this will likely change in the future as the development progresses. But what if zombies could smell blood in their vicinity, and this would actually be the strongest aggro effect possible, even overriding some of the others like line of sight... Let's say you and your buddy are out looting a town, when you suddenly come face to face with the more dangerous zombies of the future. The zeds start chasing after you, and you know they will get you eventually. At this point you could literally stab your friend in the back, making him bleed. The zombies would instantly switch aggro to your friend, and you could escape the situation safely. You make it out alive by betraying your friend, only to live a life filled with remorse, guilt and Rasputin Kvass... The second one could be taken a step further if/when the zombie hordes come in: Ripping open a bloodbag could serve as a good distraction for zeds for a minute or so.

I've only encountered one cheater in 100+ hours of play. I can live with that.

The current implementation of the logout timer is trollish.
BadassPreacher replied to airtonix (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Couldn't the server still have your static character for a while though, even if you kill the client process? I know nothing about these things, but I have encountered this kinda stuff in other games. -

So have I understood this correctly, the timer starts when you're actually out of the game already? It seems a bit silly to have your character sit there as a helpless NPC for a while... Is there a reason why the count down shouldn't start while in game? For example: - Find a bush and sit down (f3). - Press "log out". - 30-60 second timer starts to tick down on your screen (timer length may be tied to the actions you have performed in the past 5 minutes). - If you get up, move, perform an action or take damage, the timer stops and you need to repeat the process. - Once the timer ticks down on your screen, you and your character are out of the game. This way you would still have control of your character, and have a chance to react to an unexpected threat. While still keeping the timer, so people just can't run around a corner and vanish into thin air by logging out instantly. -
Looks like I'll have another reason to shoot people, besides them wearing Payday masks :D It has become clear that I cannot reason with a person who has decided to wear something like that.

I used to be trusting and nice. Then came the Water Pump Massacre of 2014... Never again! -
Never Seen This Symptom And Could Not Find It.

Have you been playing on the fraggers.inc server, have you? :D That message got me too, but after a couple times I finally figured out what was going on. Made me laugh though :) -
Anyone Crafted The New Backpack Yet?
BadassPreacher replied to crazyandlazy's topic in General Discussion
I know. But even though I'm pretty prudent when it comes to inventory management, I still need more than 12 slots from my backpack :) -
Tactical Vests And Puffer Jackets

But I usually use a 12-20 slot backpack :( -
Tactical Vests And Puffer Jackets

I've found tactical vest in barracks and fire station towers. But sadly most of the time they are glitched through a bed or a shelving unit, and I'm unable to get them. -
Anyone Crafted The New Backpack Yet?
BadassPreacher replied to crazyandlazy's topic in General Discussion
I have one on my regular character. If you're not a pack rat, it's an awesome backpack to have. Been trying to find the parts on my hardcore character as well, but the game has decided to mess with my head... Last life I found everything but the rope, think I looked 3-4 days for it. Then I died, and as a fresh spawn found two ropes in the first warehouse I went to. But knowing my luck, now I can't find any wooden sticks, been looking for two days and have come up empty. -
One Kill On Sight Thread To Rule Them All!
BadassPreacher replied to Grimey Rick's topic in General Discussion
I was going around the harbor at Electro with my friend. We were just scavenging stuff and looking for a second weapon, when all of a sudden he gets shot. Luckily he didn't die, and we were able to take cover in a building nearby and patch him up with bandages and saline. Then we started looking for the shooter, and eventually found him sitting on one of the cranes. The moments when we were running from cover to cover trying to locate this hostile element, knowing that every wrong step could possible be our last, were the most intense moments I've had in a long time in any game. We ended up taking him down and getting some loot as compensation for our troubles. If it wasn't for the shooter, and his KoS mentality. I would have never experienced that. So I do appreciate the "service" they provide. Killing unarmed players is another matter though, one that I cannot get behind. At least for me, the player has to have a weapon of "equal standing" compared to what I may have, for me to engage him. Yesterday I had my sniper scopes on plenty of people running around in Elektro... Did I fire a single bullet? No. (Well I did once, but that was a zombie sitting at 700m, and I wanted to target practice :) )
