I almost feel like I kinda-sorta logged today. I got cornered by three players in a house and ended up unconcious after a hatchet fight. I waited it out, eventually regained conciousness though I was unable to move. I believe I probably would have been sliding but was tucked against a wall. I layed there for a while, then decided to relog since I got tired of waiting for something to happen. When I logged back in the guys that attacked me were still in the house so I went in to get a little payback. I got the jump on one guy and laid into him with the fire axe, maybe five good swings into him after he went down then his buddy got me from behind and I was dead. I felt a little bad about it, but honestly felt they should have been a little smarter in making sure I was dead after they decided to attack me.

I really like this idea. I appreciate any changes that would increase the actual repercussions for dying, especially for those who play in groups.

Definitely off to a good start! I'm liking the list of changes so far including the weapons nerf. Hope I'll be able to test it soon. Input: One of the things that annoys me about dayz is the act of switching from a primary to a melee; thoughts? -

Good to hear you haven't completely checked out of the community (yet). If you have any resources that are being allocated to the mod at all, I believe the arftifacting bug should be priority one. The introduction of graphic glitches is the first mod change I've experienced that has got me feeling this game is no longer playable. Because of the delay in fixing this seemingly simple yet substantial bug and the shift from relentless updating to "radio silence", I've gone from someone who would have blindly bought the standalone game right off the shelf on day one to thinking I'll probably end up with a wait & see approach. My 2 cents.

I could see this sort of thing as long as you were forced to spawn as new player on the coast. If you want to re-connect with your buddies who are already geared up and in the north, tough luck, you're hoofing it unless they're willing to re-spawn with you in order to re-form the group.

It would seem that this might be an opportunity for them to make even more money from the dayZ mod. Allow people to pay a few dollars for an additional character. I wouldn't be willing to buy the complete game a second time for that privilege, but for 5-10 bucks, sure. Perhaps this is something that simply cannot be done, IDK. Are there enough people who would like more than one character and would be willing to shell out for it? Then again maybe i'm completely wrong and don't know wtf I'm talking about. -

I can accept hits from zeds resulting in some bleeding. I do however have difficulty with my blood draining like a garden hose every time I'm struck. WTF every blow is severing major arteries? :huh:

It would be interesting to see which servers would end up most popular if deviations like this were allowed. Since it's alpha, why couldn't this kind of feature at least be tested? I would love to see a pistols only server myself... my 2¢ -
Not a big fan of taking away my morphine at spawn and making matches so rare that I'm forced to go into dodge city to find them.

Your question suggests that the company is in some financial difficulty and in need "saving". I'd be surprised if anyone on this forum knows the details of their financial situation well enough to answer that question. What I'd really like to know is how the sales of Arma II now compare to sales pre-Dayz. Has Dayz sold more copies of Arma 2 in the last few months than they did since it's been released? If so, by how much? I wonder... -

+1 I have to say it's happening way too much to me now. With the increased abilities of the zeds, lack of morphine and being forced into close quarters combat using the hatchet, the broken leg or KO = game over now. The first four weeks of playing had a much different feel for me. I am lately finding myself pissed at the game after one of these episodes and discouraged instead of eager to re-spawn and get started on a new adventure. -

:D I had a good laugh. I knew I recognized that SOB from somewhere! I don't have too much of a problem with how strong they are (aside from being able to break your leg in one punch) but spawning with nothing can be frustrating with crappy loot luck. Last couple of spawns, whether I have somewhere indoors to run or not, the bastards seem to follow me indoors and scratch me to death. They seem to know I have nothing to defend myself with. If you don't find a weapon in first four of five loot areas you risk your life going into, odds are that you'll eventually aggro one zed and then you're f'd. Start me out with a hatchet/crowbar at least! I seriously doubt anyone (especially someone apparently afflicted with Osteogenesis imperfecta) would have the balls to venture out into a zombie infested world armed with nothing but a band-aid & some Tylenol. -
Make the likelihood of finding matches the same as finding the axe. I have been scavenging for what seems an eternity and have yet to come across any matches, but the hatchet seems to be spawning as frequently as empty tin cans. Seriously WTF? Am I gonna have to travel from the north back to the hobo-can fires in Cherno to cook these damn steaks? Make groups of players, especially those traveling in tightly formed packs, slightly more prone to aggro zeds. Seems a way to tweak the advantage groups automatically have over lone wolves. I would like to see the long range / sniper type weapons tweaked a bit, maybe through drastic reduction in availability & ammo. Perhaps player killing would be a bit less likely if you couldn't snipe someone from across the map, but instead you're forced to at least engage other players in more close quarters type combat, if killing other players is your goal. I would love to be able to play as a zed (perhaps only after dying to zombie attack) and be able to blend in with the AI zeds and then pounce on the unsuspecting survivors. This would force players to respect every zed they come close to for fear of them being a player & not AI. I for one at least would feel better about being killed by another player if he was a zed kicking my ass as opposed to a sniper killing me camped high atop of a hill/building 800km away. Some way to replace large quantities of blood for lone wolves. Perhaps a rare wild (and ideally dangerously lethal) animal in the woods that can replace blood to full when it's meat is cooked & consumed. Just some random thoughts of mine. Certainly most will hate them and they're probably not even possible in some cases due to engine limitations but whatever!

Bugs 1 numerous server issues, 5-10 minute wait, retrying to authenticate, debug forest/wilderness, ridiculous FPS / server lag, de-sync, etc. 2 spawning glitches (I found myself in the middle of the ocean with my fully stocked character after donning that damn camo skin WTF!) 3 Glitchy inventory system (often have to struggle trying to take a backpack and end up giving up, I cant be hanging out in the open for 5 minutes trying to get the damn thing...) Features 1 option to respawn as a zed after being killed by zombies (now that's my kind of pvp!) 2 cruise control keyboard key (for sprinting through forests) 3 mountain lions or bears in the forests, not frequent, but some danger in the woods would enhance play I think -
I myself was wondering why the numerous functionality problems are seemingly ignored while trivial things like bicycles are being added. Thankfully Rocket is communicating with the community through posts like these. Thanks to OP for voicing his opinion and thanks to Rocket for enlightening me on how shit works. :cool:
