Item slot useage/New Special Items and HUD
Leechman replied to dekciW's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Theres a fine line between realistic and bad mechanics. Sometimes you have to suspend realism for a more fun, 'authentic' experience. -
Ok, I'll respond to the thread. Any suggestion like this is unnecessary. You already have the tools in the game to set up something like this. Barricades aren't that rare if you know where to look. There are plenty of locations where you could safely set up something like this, and with the right players you could easily enforce it. You'd easily be able to set up a base trading currency if you so wished, even taxes and any other random law you see fit. Instead of having it made for you, take the initiative and use the tools already at your disposal to create something like this.

INSANE spawning rate,ammunition type
Leechman replied to Squirrelman's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Instead of crouch, try prone :D If you're not confident you can creep through an area, then don't do it. Time spent in reconnaissance is seldom wasted -
People have different opinions on the balance of elements like 3rd person. If you are against it, then don't play on servers that allow it. It's the easiest option. There are plenty of non-3rd person view servers.

Not immediately necessary, but if such things are at all possible side things like this would be a nice addition.

Multiple Profiles Independent from Each Other
Leechman replied to Necros (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Not going to happen. Whilst you may have genuine intentions, it leaves the game open for far too much exploitation, abuse and farming. I believe the future plan is for characters to be bound to a single server so you can multiple characters across multiple servers. -

Items that take up multiple slots turn the extra slots beyond the first invisible.

INSANE spawning rate,ammunition type
Leechman replied to Squirrelman's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Perhaps you should consider altering your tactics. Instead of going in guns blazing, try a more considered, stealthier approach. You can get through the most densely populated areas with some careful planning and movement. If you still want to shoot the place up, try picking off zombies from a longer range, so surrounding zombies won't hear you. This way you won't get the '30+ zombies coming' that you would get with, say, firing a lee enfield in the centre of a city. Re: Your mp5 comment. I believe its more of a balance thing. Any suppressed weapon is inherently move valuable, so they limit the ammo that can be used to reduce abuse and exploitation. -
Bushfires + wood in forests + packs of animals + fishing
Leechman replied to _Profile_Shame's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Bushfires would probably overload either the server or your game lol. It'd a cool thing to hope for though. -
What do we call our undead friends?
Leechman replied to LondonHyena's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Walkers, Crawlers and Hoppers, mostly. Zambies, if I've been drinking and I'm playing silly. -
Set zombies on fire with flares.

Haha, would definitely be hilarious to see. Not sure how easy it would be to put in though :/ -
1. This issue will be solved when characters become bound to a single server (a mentioned plan). For now, it's Alpha, and this is the least of our worries. 2. I lol'd, mostly indifferent. 3. I really disagree. Just be more careful. Direct Chat voice being fixed will improve player interactions. But really, this is not a problem that should be worried about now. 4. Maybe. Not sure how your specific example works, too lazy to google lol. 5. I'm ok with this. 6. Again I'm ok with this. 6a. rocket has discussed issues with importing ACRE. Use the search tool. 7. Nope. Some people prefer certain settings, having a range of options is best. Your demographic comment is unnecessary and offensive. 8. I don't think this needs to be done. In my opinion, this game needs less item spawns.

1. I believe there is already a chance to catch an infection from another player. 2. I'm indifferent about, but maybe thats because I've got ready access to matches/wood from where I'm currently set up.

Re: Turned survivors. (not in the mood for a wall of text and this is all i glanced at, sorry) Rocket has stated, long ago, that as part of the (unreleased) story, these zombies are not dead people. Spawning zombies from turned survivors given such information is inconsistent.

Disregard - Method to claim an area
Leechman replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
There have been similar suggestions. Ultimately I disagree. If you want to do that sort of thing, you already have enough tools with barricades and abundant weapons and ammo. -

Not everyone enjoys the settings on veteran servers. Neither are 'casual' servers specifically any easier for finding equipment. It's just how it is at the moment.

I kind of like this idea but I would definitely want to limit it to non-cultivated areas. ie: not farmland and towns. It would cause limping(reduced speed) and also be fixed by bandages. By limiting it that way, you're making fast travel through the woods mildly risky and may give players more thought to staying in the open or on roads when travelling. Furthermore, if players choose to travel in the woods etc then they stand a chance of losing a bandage and possibly facing a situation where they bleed out due to lack of bandages. It could also improve the value of found vehicles. I don't really agree with your aside suggestion however. If your shoulder is in pain (for example) you could take a simple painkiller pill and it would go away. Breaking your bone is quite a bit more painful and requires the king of painkillers.
