Did you even bother to read his post before talking out of your ass? Let me break this down for you. He simply states that because of the more fps-more zeds system, he gets too many zeds spawned when he plays. He's complaining because he gets too high fps, therefore too many zeds. Personally I like many zeds, and I'm not sure about implementing such a limit, but seriously your reply was not just useless but down to idiotic. This is a forum, read and think before you post.

What's the first thing you'd do in DayZ Standalone?
h3l1x replied to TIC's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Call work and say I'll be sick for the next week. -
Well, he already had a gps, but after talking to him I found out he'd just made a stash, so he could stash the second one instead of offering it to me.
-
Yesterday a complete stranger gave me a gps.

Deciding (Sorry if this is in the wrong section)
h3l1x replied to northriver's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Just to add a couple of things. Whether you end up buying the steam or the retail (non-steam) version is a matter of personal choice. Buying it from steam gives you all the steam pros and cons. Buying the retail (non-steam) version is just like buying any non steam game, you don't have to launch it via steam, you don't have to have steam running, you get an offline installer you can burn on some disks, you can install it on any path you want etc. Also the non steam version can be found in sales. Personally I got the non steam version of Arma II: CO from gog.com for $11.50. In a few words, if you don't already use steam for most of your games, or have no intention of making a steam game library etc get the non steam version. -
Firstly, use the left side filters in DayZ Commander. Check hide wrong arma/dayzmod versions, check every other feature (nameplates, crosshairs, third person, etc) you want or not. This will help sorting them. You can also add servers in the favorites tab. Second, my approach on joining a server, is finding one via DayZ Commander, right click its entry, copy ip to clipboard, go to DayZ, multiplayer > remote > paste ip and port number > join. Always works, no errors, and it's the cleanest approach although it takes more steps than just using DayZ Commander only.

Go here, and read the "DayZ Mods" and "Additional Maps" sections. I'm pretty sure you could have found it yourself if you spent 2 minutes googling it though.

Just keep in mind, one thing. When standalone gets released is going to be an alpha version. This is a stage prior to a beta version. As you can understand it is not going to be a full/complete game, many features will be missing (vehicles for example), it'll have bugs/glitches, etc. So if you'd like to help with testing and are willing to put up with bugs/glitches, wait a couple of months for the standalone. If you want vehicles, fishing, other extra features and less bugs then go for Arma 2: CO, and play the DayZ mod.

Personally I'm against food buffs. Only difference should be blood gain. Cooked food more blood, tincan/raw food less. On the other hand I like the idea or cooking/recipes. Find a camp with a pot of stew on the fire, drop in some poisonous mushrooms, get some same distance, take your binoculars out and watch em getting poisoned.

Cable car, Aerial tramway, Gondola lift (same thing, different names)
h3l1x replied to h3l1x's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
If this is true, then crap. Engine seems too limited if you can't have people on moving floors. Only hope left is for ToH tweaked engine (SA engine) to allow something like this. Or another approach would be having players inside cabins into the sitting position/animation (as when in cars) as a compromise. Trains and all related ideas have been already discussed I think, multiple times. And yes, fueling and operating each cabin separately, instead of fueling and operating the main control/power room would be another viable solution, less risky for the players inside the cabins. -
Cable car, Aerial tramway, Gondola lift (same thing, different names)
h3l1x replied to h3l1x's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Depends on pros and cons. Big risks should have big rewards. For example, one could climb a mountain on foot, or run across a canyon/valley, taking him lots of time and zed encounters, or he could take the risk of flying over these things, taking him less time/running/zeds but taking the risk of being spotted by other players. See the pros and cons? It's all about giving choices to the user. IMO if everything got implemented around the KOS mentality the game would suck. You've seen how the bandit skin subject progressed. It's useless, any two bandits bloodbagging eachother can get hero skins. KOS will always be there, and as much as me/you/anyone hates it at times, it's a vital part of the game, the risk factor, the human element. -
Matchbox/matches and the whole -content in a box/package- subject has been discussed already and I did find it via searching for "matches". It's here. Specific quote on matches and generally fire making approach inside spoiler.

*Spread the word* Tweak the options for better FPS on lower spec PC's
h3l1x replied to JKing (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Needs to be moved in Support or Troubleshooting section. Everyone knows Arma is poorly optimized, no news here. Having everyone posting their exact setup down to their peripherals in the Suggestions' section and asking for tweaking advice on their specific setup is going to turn said section into a bigger mess than it already is. -
Been suggested before multiple times. Next time use the search feauture. Also no, for all the reasons already mentioned.

REVIVAL: Where would you like a DayZ SA map to be set?
h3l1x replied to King of kong's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
1-5 FPS for everyone :D -
Maybe, but that was the third post of yours in this thread (1/3 of total posts), all of them contributing absolutely nothing to the OP's suggestion. In my book that's also trolling/derailing. No offence, just saying my opinion. If you look closely, the backpack on the third picture is almost identical to the Patrol Pack in DayZ, only difference is that is has one strap and not two. And the Czech Vest Pouch is more compact than the Patrol Pack, making it ideal for such a use. See how slim it is for yourself.
-
Since mr. president started with the trolling/meme approach, and as a picture is worth a thousand words, some examples.
-
Funny thing, I was thinking about this yesterday. In fact I thought one should only be able to use the small packs on his chest. Meaning only Patrol Pack, Czech Vest Pouch, -and maybe not sure cause it's quite bulky- Assault Pack (ACU). I don't think one should not be able to fire his weapon at all though. I'd rather we couldn't aim down the sights/scope, only hip firing to say. When travelling abroad I usually have a large 60-70 litres backpack on my back and a small one on my chest and I can pretty much move my arms quite easily.

I'm not a doctor/virologist but I think it's supposed to be like an asymptomatic incubation period many viruses have (for example HIV). In order to prevent such a virus, one would need a vaccine (antibodies), and not antibiotics, since they are supposed to fight inflammations (something not present during said asymptomatic incubation period). So when you get hit by a zed and get sepsis, it's like you're at the asymptomatic incubation period (virus is stealthy, not causing any symptoms), and after 30 mins it becomes symptomatic, inflammation/infection appears, along with other symptoms (bleeding, coughing, shaking, etc). If my logic is not flawed, then it would make more sense instead of sepsis rubs/bandages etc there was a vaccination syringe ingame (limited lasting period, for example 1 hour). Think of it as tetanus. You step on a rusty piece of metal, first thing they do is give you an anti-tetanus vaccine. Of course no point in that, since they took so much time making these rubs/bandages, just saying. On the other hand, it kinda makes sense. Imagine cutting your foot on a dirty/bacteria infected object. If you use antiseptic, keep it clean, etc it will probably be fine. If you don't do these things, it'll probably get infected (inflammation), puss will come out of the wound, you'll get fever, etc, though hardly you'd die since the human immune system can fight infections like these usually. But even in this case, taking antibiotics prior to the inflammation would probably have no effect. So it all boils down as to whether it's a common bacterial infection (non lethal) or some kind of virus -not the zed virus- (potentially lethal). Crap, I tried answering one question and I ended up having multiple questions myself. Hate this.

Although I'm not into RP, I agree the forums need to add/change/clean a couple of new sections. IMO it's kinda chaotic as it works right now. You've got a DayZ mod section where most new threads are about the standalone, you've got a survivor camp section working as a recruitment place, there's not a dedicated public hive section, half posts in new player discussion are about hardware when there's a support section, etc. Could also use a streaming section, a VoIP section (TS3, Mumble, Skype, etc) and a modding/scripting section. Also, red dotted lines do not line up with the image in your signature. Try some alignment (left, center, right) tags.
-
Too complicated/flawed to implement, also reminds of classes' system in rpg games. IMO all players should have the same chances of surviving at spawn (eg same stats/gear) and the only skill system I could accept in a game like DayZ would be crafting/repairing/building (only knowledge/experience related skills), all gained by repeating said actions. And of course as soon as you die, back at square one.
-
Not really. Every single time I find a heli crash I drop my rifle and take them out usually two at a time with my hatchet. After a couple of minutes (3-4 runs) it's all clear and I can loot it. And I'm playing solo. Nothing to do with OP bosses.

As BigMike already pointed out, the infection we get ingame has nothing to do with the zombie pandemic virus. Players are just immune to this virus and get good old bacterial infections. If one got the zombie virus and was able to cure himself with a pack of antibiotics then there wouldn't be a pandemic in the first place. People would just use antibiotics and there would be no zombies at all.

Character's Traits Improve As They Get Older
h3l1x replied to carbine781 (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Nope. Time should only add knowledge, dexterity, diy skills. If you survive you learn lots of stuff, but you don't get a better physical condition in any way. Btw have a look at a real life four months survivor. Now compare said pics to your OP. He sure as hell knows how to catch rats now, how to make diy traps, what kind of bait to use, the best ways to cook a rat etc. But he's also lost 44 pounds, got no body fat at all, dehydration, vitamine deficiency, and he looks incapable of walking. -
Or maybe try some player interaction/coop? I've given my only pack of antibiotics to a complete stranger I met in NWAF (he infected me, stole my dmr and logged off though after dragging 30 zeds in the building I was). Medic clans also help in situations like this (right after above incident, I got patched up by TMW people).
