Well I get lazy ingame sometimes. Also if you think about it I'd also have to transfer a empty tin can from my pack to my inventory in order to boil the water. So 2 slots for the wood pile and 1 for the tin can, 3 slots needed. So keeping the rifle in my inventory without mags (since I had 3 mags on me at that time) wouldn't be much help as in protection from other players. And it's much easier to spot on the ground a rifle with 3 mags than 3 mags (in theory). Holding down W? Not a single hour, I'm a leftie, using arrow keys :p

I explained in my post. It's quicker to drop gun + mags than just mags. I didn't go too far, 200 meters tops. Had visual contact with the area I dropped the rifle all the time. Also don't have gps, so marking on the map wouldn't be much better than me having a visual memory of the particular tree I dropped the dmr next to (which I thought I did, and usually works).

Dropped a dmr with 3 mags in the woods, in order to free up some slots in my inventory so I could gather some wood and boil water. Couldn't get wood were I was (trees were thin), had to wander off about 200 meters away. Got back, couldn't find my dmr. Spent half an hour prone looking for it. No luck.

    NoobZ survival guide.

OP forgot to mention one vital thing in order to survive chernarus. Glitching: Never rush when going up/down ladders. Never go prone too close to a tree/heli/tent. Do not try to jump off the last 1-2-3 steps when going down stairs. Try to avoid walking on large rocks. Most of these situations will get you crippled/bleeding/passed out/dead eventually.

    Crafting Suggestions (no discussion)

Input (one piece of clothing/uniform, 2-3 wood piles, or even sandbags) Output (scarecrow/mannequin/decoy body) Tools (hatchet, sewing kit, toolbox maybe) FailChance 0 Enchantments = Ability to construct a fake human figure and place it anywhere you like, for decoy, distraction, warning to other players. ActionType = Construct (not sure about the failchance variable so leaving it empty for now)

    What's your Day Z playstyle?

Scavenger - paranoid - antisocial - living in the woods survivor. Only shoot if I'm shot at, usually roaming the woods, finding camps, tents full of duped stuff, which I destroy and then take the vehicles back to the coast and leave 'em there for newspawns. Or in other instances put a mark on the map "tent full of guns". Also enjoy sitting in the treeline and watching through my scope players running around.

    Your bad DayZ habits

Bad habits? Dropping my rifle/ammo and wandering away to do chores. The story usually goes like this.. Backpack is full, inventory is almost full, and I need to gather wood to boil water or something. So I drop rifle/ammo on the ground (free 3-4 main inv slots this way), equip hatchet to kill any zombie that'll bother me, and go on to do whatever. Thing is, many times I've end up losing said rifle/ammo just because after doing all the stuff I had to do, I couldn't find it. Last week lost a dmr with 3 mags this way in the woods. Also trusting players pretending to be friendly and then shooting me in the back after a couple of minutes.

    Horses.

Don't forget the fact that you could eat them if you were starving. You probably already have.
  9. Disable shadows if you haven't already. For some unknown reason the game would crash on me after half an hour of game approximately, as soon as I disabled shadows it never crashed again and also gained some fps. Also try different servers, on some I get 60-40 on others 40-30 (excluding player count). There are so many factors when it comes to dayz fps you have to try many approaches.
