I think they should leave glitching into the walls unfixed. Yeah, it would work out great! Just make sure that once the player character enters the wall or floor, he gets instantly killed. That kind of change would suit me fine. All the tasteless scum who use that glitch to kill other player would go there and get offed automatically, sounds nice to me!! ... So yeah, my group has been ambushed from inside a wall as well in the near past. Also one time 3 guys locked me down into a building but failed to come inside and get me. After getting one of them killed and 2 injured, they resulted to glitching into the wall and shooting me from there. How I loathe thee.

Whatever happened to FTC in SA version? Last I heard before release was that there would be a new assembly and recruitment once SA is released. It's been some months now, so I presume FTC was left inactive and is dead now? Anyways, asking because I was keen to participate in some manner during DayZ mod. Now I would like to know if there is any remnants of FTC left that appreciate help? PM me if you have anything about this. EDIT: Typo.

Hello. I don't know if you accept these kind of informations for use, but I was playing in your server again today and experienced a combat log. I was in the NWAF. There was a bus driving around there, with a survivor as the driver. There was at least 1 hero and 2 other survivors running around in the field, looting the buildings and killing zombies. As I am a hero too, I did not open fire. But quite soon things got interesting: I heard a sniper shot near me and witnessed how the hero was shot to death. Soon the sniper opened fire to the other survivors, but I don't know if he managed to kill them. I immediately started to look for the sniper, since he was dead to me after killing that hero character. After some searching, I found him beneath a tree around 043 049, aiming towards the hangars at the south. I opened fire at him and unloaded all 30 bullets from my automatic rifle to his face+ chest. When the smoke cleared out, I realised that there was no body or no death message and so I came to the conclusion that he was indeed a douche who combat logged out of there. I don't have any names, unfortunately, but the sniper was wearing a ghillie and sporting a DMR or M24 by the looks of it. My weapon of choice was a silenced M4. The sniper managed to take about 7- 9 shots at the group in the NWAF. Time for this occurrence was around 18:45 UTC+2, which would make it 17:45 in France, and the date was 09.09.2013. If you manage to salvage some more info based on this and act upon it, I'm happy. If not, at least I tried to bring justice to the fallen hero and party bus :) When I left, the 3 survivors were harmed but alive and the sniper had left the server.

Otherwise good work in listing how to keep any PC running clean, but I would be very selective about 3rd party software. All of those programs just basically do what you could also do manually. But some are indeed good and worth of downloading.

I love how you seemingly have to install DayZ Commander just to make a note of the server IP or name you just joined. Seems like my .txt file of having my recently played servers with all of stashes found in them is just not a valid system... :D But to post something relatively helpful, you should indeed just Google "walking dead dayz server" and start your searching from there.

I must apologise forehand but OP just seems childish to me. You have to "work" for something in a video game? Years back you had to start the whole bloody game over if you died or messed up. Now you get an achievement by pressing left mouse button for teh win. If you are really that sore about having to run in this game, be sore to the industry in general and mass consumer base, not to the mod/ game that is actually trying to maintain something decent. Rant done with, as it is with my beer also.

Well, I recently upgraded into a new pc but instead of copying any files, I wanted a clean start and downloaded every game from Steam Library that I wanted to have back. On the other hand, you can just once again make manual copies of every file and folder you have in your Steam directory and use those to avoid re-downloading anything. This would work as in you make a copy, for example, of the folder "steamapps", then do your thing and re-install Steam. After this you can just paste it back to where it was along with everything inside it and Steam should realise this and only verify the files, instead of downloading them again. Although making copies of large files requires for your hard drive to be formatted into NTFS, preferably. This is usually the case with any hard drive, but for example I used to have a hard drive formatted into FAT and it got in my way sometimes, when trying to move around large files. But disregarding all that was said above; I think the newer Windows would install in your computer without removing any data you don't want them to. There are the built-in backup options+ You can choose upon installing if you just want it to affect the partition that has your OS or if you want to do everything from the scratch. Ofc I believe upon installing a new OS to an existing system you will lose some register keys etc., but these can be basically created again by verifying the games in Steam and starting them up at least once. Edit: A nerdy word of advice to you would be not to place all of your games on an external HDD. I'm not sure but USB ports can sometimes become bottlenecks, but this is ok if you are using Firewire port or even somekind of SATA- attachment. Also most of the stock external HDDs only spin 5400 rpm, which means slightly slower retrieval and writing of data. Regular HDDs spin about 7200 rpm. If your external is a Solid State Drive, then fuck me silly.

Phew, well I'm glad to hear you got it working. The people who told you not to install beta were supporters of 3rd-party programs, which I am against and thus my advice differed from theirs. I never noticed having anything banned in my ARMA II but the fact that you installed BattlEye and it went away would suggest that that was indeed the problem. So good job resolving that one too.

Answering in order: You can make compact images of any game you have via Steam. The function will appear when right-clicking a game in your Library. Steam will tell you how to do it and how to use it. You can also just do what I usually do and copy the files manually, as you suggested. If you end up deleting everything, just put the folders that you had as backup into their correct places and begin installing via Steam. Instead of downloading, it will verify the files within minutes, given that they are in the correct directory. You have download ARMA II and OA through Steam? Then, if you have any other expansions I suggest to download them as well from Steam. After that, run ARMA II first in Steam. Then the expansions, in Steam. Then do the remaining steps: -Install ARMA II OA Beta patch in Steam -Run ARMA II OA Beta patch in Steam -Download latest DayZ mod from here: http://se1.dayz.nu/l....7.7.1-Full.rar (official server for mod dl.) -Insert all DayZ mod files to directory: Steam\SteamApps\common\Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead\@Dayz -Run ARMA II OA Beta patch again in Steam and in the Main Menu, select Expansions and enable DayZ Mod -Restart ARMA II OA Beta patch in Steam and start to enjoy DayZ while waiting for SA on Origin, trolololol You said that you haven't downloaded or installed anything else, so I expect that SixLauncher and DayZ Commander have not been installed. If so, aforementioned steps should cut it for you. Take note that all ARMA II related official stuff in my steps is meant to be downloaded and played through Steam. Dude, my tip might not be the most popular one, but it is fool-proof and I wrote it as simple as one can. If you are really having this much of hard time in installing, I suggest to try my way out. Also about your question of beta patch size: Don't remember exactly, but something around 200 MB. So it's small. (That's what she said!) Sausage, if you launch beta via Steam, it plays out just as if you would launch it without Steam. Nothing changes, except you can enable Steam Overlay. Also a tip to Steam people following my advice from earlier: Add -nosplash in the startup parameters via the Game Library preferences to disable the splash screen at start. Not mandatory, saves time about 3- 5 seconds.
