Meanwhile I'm enjoying games that actually take advantage of my gpu I don't mean perfectly smooth since its an alpha, but any better? (NOTE: My definition of smooth is 60fps, just because you don't mind running 20-30 doesn't mean the game is performing well)

Doesn't work for most people The Arma engine is known for being full potato and running decently on some cards and terribly on many others

The engine is garbage I agree. BiS has a horrible reputation for not optimizing their games. I'd prefer if dean stopped working on features and focused some time on the clunkyness so alpha testing in the future is much easier No wonder you run smooth, thats overkill. Especially the CPU. We shouldn't need specs like this to run a game as ugly as DayZ smooth

i7 3.4ghz quad with a GTX 770 you probably do have issues with performance, you're just one of those people who manages to tolerate 22fps

Games using the Arma engine are well known for poor performance. Just a heads up to newer players.

top of the line rigs can barely run dayz because its using one of the worst engines known to the industry dont count on it

DO NOT reduce weapon damage Any shot to the torso should pretty much kill you, end of. When guns kill easily they feel more powerful and like they offer more protection

Nights need to stay pitch black to stop gamma nightvision. The flashlight radius just needs to be a teeny bit bigger and the flashlight needs to be held correctly at all times -
Please do NOT come into this thread saying "it's still alpha" || Arma 3 went from alpha to release with very little performance change. It is important that this is discussed so the same doesn't happen with DayZ. It is a VERY bad impression to players who are new to the Arma engine if this is not tackled before full-release. I'm on a GTX 770 and this scene gives me 22 fps on lowest. But when looking at the ground or running away from the city I get 60+ (So its obvious its client-side). The games movement and melee and everything is already so clunky, I don't need an astonishingly low fps of 22 ontop of that to further complicate things. I can tell this has to do with the triangle count most likely overloading the rasterizer because when I look right at the ground in the city I climb up to 60+ fps again. Yes object detail is on very low, the only thing I have on is post processing (with AO off) because the motion blur helps sooth the horrible framerate a bit All of these buildings look pretty reduced for LOD, so what is causing it?

In theory that would make sense to do but it is kind of complex to let that work and not slow down other people actually it might already work

They should have a horde of 50-100 that goes from city to city, when its on its way sirens in the city go off and players either run or seek shelter and close all the doors. Players will try and harbor other players to live it out instead of killing them on sight -

Ok then people should stop wanting forced direct chat mic detection and they can add a suicide button or buddy system If we're going to have casual features why stop at 3rd person?
