CSimon replied to CSimon's topic in Technology/Programming
That's what I used. Could the problem be my hard drive? I used the performance tool and got these results; Processor: 7.5 RAM: 7.6 Graphics: 7.7 Gaming graphics: 7.7 Primary hard disk: 5.9 -

Well I bought the computer, used, about 4 days ago, so gave it a clean then. And as it only came with the Windows 7 disc I had to install all the drivers myself, and I didn't really know what I was doing, but I had to do it. I'm thinking it's the drivers. Because when I see 3 different downloads for chipsets or audio, I don't know which to get, so pretty much go for the top one -

At first I thought it may have been a steam issue, then I installed Anno from disc and that does it too! I've tried DayZ SA, Arma2, DayZ mod, Fallen earth and none of them work. I sometimes get a message saying my graphics card has stopped responding and has recovered, but can't do anything with any games. Can someone please help? -
Thanks for the concern, but I am aware of the risks. Just hoping someone could explain to me what I need to adjust and what it controls
-
Anybody used it? And could give me some help using it?

I get this too! I'm using an Asus HD 6850 graphics card. Is the mod any more stable?

Thanks for all the replies, really appreciate it. Although, now I'm getting the 'Realtek's network controller was not found. If deep sleep mode is enabled please plug the cable.' I've looked on the web, and most say to unplug the ram for 30 seconds or so, which I did, and now the computer turns on, but the screen doesnt, so either the computer's fucking with me, or something else has messed up. Anyone have any ideas?

Ok, so here's how this story goes; I won a bid (yay) on eBay for a gaming computer, something I've wanted for a while, and this one, I got for reasonably cheap too, less than £300. As far as I could tell the specs were great (others may beg to differ) and here they are; Intel core i5 2500 3.3ghz socket 1155 6mb cache processor Corsair vengeance 8gb ddr3 1600mhz ram Asus hd 6850 direct cu 1gb gddr5 dual dvi hdmi graphics card P8p67 asus motherboard. Well anyway, the computer didn't come with a hard drive, so I bought one, this one; Wd 500gb 3.5 sata hard drive After fitting it and installing windows 7 onto it I was finally up and running on my brand new bargain gaming computer! So I thought. My girlfriend loaded solitaire (SOLITAIRE!!) after a message telling me my graphics card is shit, and it was lagging all kinds shit! (Did I say it was solitaire? Lagging. Solitaire) So obviously this raised some concern, and we began searching the web, on a different computer (after various attempts of plugging in wireless adaptors and Ethernet cables into mine, with no success) of how to select my graphics card. This took us off into device manager, to realise my graphics card wasn't being detected. Which led to more web searches. Well, anyway, we discovered I need to install drivers, something I've never done, nor had any idea about, and managed to get the graphics card running, Ethernet port working, USB's and even an xbox headset to work on the computer. (although no sound was coming through the monitor, I don't know if that can even happen?) So, with my incredible machine finally up and running, dayZ installed, and a new pal (who was an absolute treat to play with) showing me the ropes, I looked set! Happy as fucking Larry! Once my new pal had left me to the treacherous realms of the undead crawling, bandit prowling, baron fields of Chernarus, that's when I encountered problem after problem. The game would run perfect once I was in and moving, getting to that point was extremely difficult and frustrating. The menus would load, I'd pick a server, and once the loading screen had loaded the screen would either; stay black and crash, requiring alt+tab to do anything. Or; stay black, and I'd hear ambient noises, and the groans and 'swooshes' of punches, and would again require alt+tab to advance. ORRR; would black out (once again) and my monitor would kinda turn off (a darker black) then come on (a lighter black) I don't know if there's a technical term for that? So me thinking this incredible (using this that term loosely as of late) machine is under-performing because maybe I didn't install some drivers, or didn't fully install them and what not, I go looking for more to install, like some sort of techie junkie (although I had next to no idea what I'm doing) and install all of the drivers on the Asus support page (you know, as asus are posting them, they must be safe). So eventually, ummm... Blue screen happens, now I'm no expert, but I hear that's not dayZ running on screen with a beer in either arm of the lazy boy! And I decide to wipe my computer and reinstall windows to start again. I thought, I'd done this before, but only this time maybe I could install the Ethernet driver, and research a little more on what drivers to install. The only problem now, is that I can't even do that, and as far as I am aware I'm doing that exactly the same way as I did before. After listening to me ramble on this far, I would imagine you have some kind of idea of what I am waffling about, and perhaps you could help me? I am desperate, really, and not someone that can really afford to just throw £300 out the window as fast as I got it through the door. If someone could help me by telling me what drivers are vital in running a computer, and the components, and a link to them. I know it's quite an ask of someone, but when I'm given a link which contains multiple further links, all named technical jargon, that's when I get into trouble. I really, honestly would appreciate any help. Many many thanks.

I don't understand a lot of this. How do I check latest drivers? And used OS?

ok so first of all, here's what I'm running; Intel core i5 2500 3.3ghz socket 1155 6mb cache processor Corsair vengeance 8gb ddr3 1600mhz ram Asus hd 6850 direct cu 1gb gddr5 dvi had I graphics card P8p67 asus motherboard Wd 500gb 3.5 sata hard drive When I load up DayZ, sometimes when I select a server I very rarely get on, I'd say 1 in 8 attempts. Usually, after the loading screen I see an image, frozen on-screen of grass and trees, for around 10 seconds, the screen the goes black, I hear my player loading weapons, and can hear the 'punch' noises when I click, but see nothing. If I close the game, sometimes when I reboot it it continues from where I left off, not giving me the chance to alter my settings, incase thats the issue. Does anybody have any suggestions? I appreciate it's alpha, but I've paid for the game, and I feel it's pot-luck whether I get to play it or not.

I've been crawling around for literally hours, I have broken my leg(s). I have rags but cant find sticks anywhere so cant create a splint. If you can genuinely help add me on steam: SimonRKC I have nothing worth stealing, so wouldn't bother

I think that's the best news I've ever heard, ever!

Its all done! :D had to update the ethernet drivers onto disc from another computer, then once I had internet, used the auto detect tool that AnarchyBrownies suggested and now my graphics card is working! :D UBER HAPPY!! Thanks a bunch guys!! Also, do you think DayZ SA will run with these specs?
