Lol @ people saying Bigfoot is too far fetched in a game with zombies.

Sometimes my character will be unable to move and a message saying "no message received for 1 second" is displayed. My character stays stuck as the counter counts up until eventually, I am disconnected. Another thing that happens usually is when I die, I get stuck at the "You have died" screen. The only way to get out is to ALT-TAB to desktop, and task manager close the game exe. Not to mention the many little error messages that pop up talking about missing files and what not. I'm too afraid to reinstall because it takes forever to download off Steam and also, the game works for the most part. Just not consistently.

A few issues that keep occurring....

And it keeps happening now more than ever. Every server I have played tonight is good for a while then I get "NO MSG RECEIVED" and it counts until I lose connection. I am playing popular servers too and it is not a server restart. When I first started playing it would only do this once in a while now it seems every game after an hour or so..... tiresome. -

As for the "no message received". I have been dc'd from servers out of the blue many times tonight already since creating this thread. My ping is fine. My internet is fine. The server was already reset. -

I think you both misunderstood. Pressing ESC doesn't work. That is my point. Normally it does. ESC -> ABORT -> etc etc etc to respawn. It just sits there playing the death music and you can't ESC to bring up a menu. You can't do anything. And these things happen a lot. -
Spawn, run for 20 minutes, find nothing, get shot by bandits. Been a playing for 5 days and all I want is a sniper rifle and a comfy spot in the hills. **EDIT* My OP is a little abrasive but I just wanted some help and I didn't mention at the time I was in PVP. The key element was learning how the servers work. That helps a lot, now I feel I have more of a purpose instead of just spawning and dying. Makes running through the wilderness mean something more. :)

Not going to do that again. I spawned east of Elektro and had to run all the way past Balota. Got my stuff plus I found another body on my way there. -

"An infected player loses blood at a rate of 3 blood per second. After patch 1.7.7 players can now die from an infection." Yikes, I'm just gonna stay close to the coast here and respawn. -

Yes coughing and I tried to recover with sardines. Waited until arrow pointed down then ate another can. Pretty sure I recovered nothing or it re-bled out. Sadly, no antibiotics were looted however I am geared enough to make it granted I don't get clipped. Am I going to die or can I am just a one-shotter now? Should I just die close to beach, hidden and loot myself? Or try to live if I can? Because I am still alive. -

I'm actually dead. When I alt-tabbed back after my recent post, I found I had no blood left and I was crawling. So I figured out where I was and crawled to a bush and logged out. Suppose I go back and die and run straight for that bush. Is that how it works when one dies if no storage is deployed? Because I found my own body from a while earlier and looted it. I'm sure I can find it again while trying. I wonder why I died though. Temp was fine. -

Brutal. That is a crucial element I would imagine. I'm still alive! I looted some dead bandit who had a lot of stuff and I'm making my way north of Balota. Might hit the deer stands but what I really need is to fix myself. I was attacked by Zs in Balota and I couldn't stop the bleeding with 2 bandages. Bled til 1/5th left. Scary that it wouldn't stop. I was prepared to go die somewhere I can remember and find the corpse to loot. Thankfully I'm still alive and I have a blood bag I think I need another player don't I? "Self Blood Bag" is something a private server would have. Anyways, why did I keep bleeding after? There was no blood animation. And what do you suggest is my best bet? Hunting animal for blood? I stole knife off bandit. :) -

So I spawned in airfield which I suppose is right by Balota. Lucked out, found an axe and headed to the hangars. Only 6-7 other players on the server. I found a bandit-clad player standing with their pistol out not moving. I have seen this before but still, I attacked them instantly because I had aggro on me. The player wouldn't die. Then I realized they were already dead, but standing up. Anyways, I didn't catch the name when I studied the body. I looted their backpack and a bunch of goods and took off north. Why was that player standing up dead? Is that a glitch? -
For those having framerate issues. Check your setup because my system runs DayZ very comfortably and I have a joke of a system compared to the ones you're all posting. 2GB Ram 2.6Ghz Athlon 5200+ 512mb Radeon HD2600 pro 128-bit Low / very low settings Played in 800x600 (same with 3D) Everything but V-Sync disabled. OS optimized for performance. (classic theme, minimal processes, etc)

Wait, there aren't any silenced SRs? Ditched the PVP servers. It's frustrating starting over and over repeatedly but it's still fun in it's own way. Also, I must have been on servers with reduced infection because the official servers I play on have dangerous zombies. Also, I have a wonky method of respawning after a death. Die. Wait a few moments while pressing ESC to get menu. Menu shows up. ABORT (YES OR NO? TO LOBBY) YES DISCONNECT OK That's the clicks involved to respawn on same server. (for me) If I wanted to leave, I would do the same but instead of the last OK, I would click DISCONNECT to quit server and get to main menu. Is that how everybody else has to do it? -
Use DayZ Commander to filter unofficial/official servers. http://dayz.gamepedia.com/How_to_install_DayZ

So, if I understand things correctly, can I join an official server with a low player count (if possible) and have an easier time gathering what I need then joining a more populated server? -

Thanks for tip I am going to try the sniper out in Arma 2. Also, I loaded up an official server and started from scratch. -

Yea I already suspected sneaky killers who have already tried to lure me to help me but I have a feeling at least one was genuine and I ignored him. So I finally made it to Stary. I found a car not long ago then a tractor then a humvee! All within 2 mins. I'm just driving around around Stary looking at it for buildings that might produce fruits. -

I only kept playing the PVP + Gear server because I spent a few days not finding anything but ammo and glow sticks. I only find tents. Can they be taken and deployed in a brush somewhere? I know they are accessible to all if found but I have yet to find a tent that is mine that I can hide someplace. Still trying to piece this game together. Like how the servers work. The way I see it, you start with nothing every time you play unless you have a tent on a certain server with some gear that hasn't been taken yet? Some players make it sound like they have gathered vehicles, weapons, supplies and it stays with them server to server? Confused. Sorry, I think I'm gonna stop asking questions out of your answers. You gotta live too. lol -

The players on the server say the deer stands are broken and not to waste my time. Then they said loot spawns based on player activity in an area. -

Hey thanks! That's Hetfield in your avatar is it not? Anyways, I should have also noted that I mainly play on a PVP server that equips you with map, gps, ak and pistol and some ammo and other stuff. So it's not survival really. Also, I ran to Stary from the coast and I'm still a ways out but so far it's taken me 45 with pauses. I found a deer stand with nothing in it and a tent hidden in the brush behind it. What can I do with the tent? I looted an empty FAL then left. I know I can look this stuff up but it's so much easier when a player explains it in a sentence or two. -

If it makes the negative posters in this thread feel any better, I would also like to find a car that works or even a bicycle if they exist. (thought I saw a guy riding a bike 6 months ago in a DayZ video) So it's not about being this or that. Sniper gun was just next on my list of activities to try. Besides, I rarely ever find anything and I take my time sneaking around fencelines, crouch-walking hugging walls, staying in shadows, flattening out when I have to, avoiding open fields and roads. Losing aggro on Zs isn't hard either. I even laughed last night when I spent 20 mins running thru wilderness to get to a big city then as soon as I get the closest I have been to a hangar, 3 bandits kill me. "die muh fugga" some kid's voice says after. It's fine, just wanted some advice, thanks! -

I know I'm being a noob. That is why I don't play with others when they ask for teaming up. I don't want to hinder anybody while I am still learning the game. Stealth and being careful is a fun part of this game, but I just wanted some tips on how to get a sniper quick because I haven't even look down the scope of one yet to see how far it can zoom! I expect whiny-noob remarks. I don't mind sacrificing my ego in order to get some suggestions. Thanks for the replies so far, too. I'm heading to Stary or whatever it's called in the middle. -

See I have been desperate to sneak my way into the hangars. Now I can scratch that off my list. Thanks.
