Yes; like I said, I suspect it's because most ArmA modders aren't interested in creating a mod that necessitates some form of unscripted realtime melee. This one does, and already has it as well (for the zeds). -

I have to agree. The only thing I have to worry about generally with food in game is how much damn space it takes up. It'd be more interesting if I actually needed as much as I carry around, and I actually worried about finding more.

My brother does, but that's because that's how he's always played ArmA and I didn't because I'm a moron. Lesson learned.

There are other ways to keep people from getting their things back. But I do like this one a LOT: I'd like to see most of the hud go away completely (yes, chatlog and ammo count included), but people will never go for that.

LOL Good job sir. I have been rather annoyed about the lack of proper posting interface for a while, but I can't really justify complaining about it when I'm far to lazy to see if there's any sort of justification for it in the Forum Forum (whee!). -
I think that this is an excellent idea, but I don't think it's really feasible given the current technical situation. We already have to wait for the crapshoot of whether or not a server will even let us in, and whether it will be synced properly or not. I'm afraid that this would just result in a process like this: 1) Connect to servers until you find a stable one 2) Get killed (happens eventually to everyone) 3) Connect to servers (excluding the one you got killed on) until you find a stable one 4) Get killed (happens eventually to everyone) etc.. The net effect will be a shrinking number of servers that are playable for a given person, leaving them with the increasing possibility that if they want to keep playing at ALL, it will be over a shitty connection with low FPS. I agree that death should have consequences. Low engine/connection performance should not be one of them. But like I said, if this could be reliably implemented with consistent results showing high performance even after a large number of deaths, I'd say put it in immediately. It's an excellent idea and I like it. I'll probably steal/modify it enough to re-post it later without feeling too bad. But thank you! I'm sure I'll remember to give you credit for the inspiration.

Two things: One, the subject line of this thread is a serious candidate for my upcoming rap album, and Two, I think I remember rocket saying that Australia had just gotten an R rating for games so it wouldn't be in danger of getting banned.

That sounds like a lot of work for the forum mods (who seem to be pretty hardworking folk already). I'd suggest that people be more encouraged to use the search function if it weren't so bloody obvious to begin with, half the forum weren't pushing it already, and if it didn't make me look like a total hypocrite* seemed like it would do any good.

I have nothing to back this up with because I am too lazy to go find it a bit busy at the moment, but I thought I read somewhere that this will eventually be implemented because it is the intended way the game should work. Like I said though, I could be completely wrong. It would definitely be better than the present situation. -

Why is this idea not getting more attention? It's the only suggestion I've seen that combats both: the boring possibility of endless KoS and doesn't give any ground to people who want the game to help them make decisions regarding trust and risk, and it doesn't do any of this by resorting to permanent learning-curve-breaking reductions in loot drops. Bravo! -

the idea sounds OK so why aren't there any mods that do it? I'm not sure. It could be because none of the people who are big enough enthusiasts about ArmA to spend the time creating a mod are also particularly interested in combat necessitating this kind of melee. ArmA's just not that type of game. Nevertheless, this is a very poor reason to assume that "ArmA can't do melee", let alone such a particular type. Even worse is that this has been parroted again and again as if it were some kind of definitive fact, without acknowledging the lack of widely-known information about the feasibility of melee. Considering that individuals who post suggestion threads (like these) are generally newcomers to DayZ (like myself), and those who reply have generally been around the mod and its forum for a bit longer, it is easy to see why such prevailing assumptions remain: because someone said so at some point. I can't stress enough that I'm not talking about everyone or everything in the discussion forum, and that I'm not necessarily accusing you (Sandy State Phantom) of doing that here. But you posted with an air of certainty on the subject of melee's feasibility in ArmA, and you have not provided any solid evidence to support that certainty. I suppose that given the average level of discourse I've observed around here, I should be happy that at least you're civil and coherent. Thank you for that! Moving on, can anyone provide some kind of solid argument, based on either direct experience or providing reference to someone who has, that melee is unfeasible in the ArmA engine? -
