  1. I'd like to see water purification system(s) in form of filtering and boiling water and maybe also chemical pills for more polluted water. Alternative methods of lighting a fire, ranging from using the bottle of a sodacan to firesteel or a block of magnesium. Some methods should also be rendered useless in rainy/damp conditions and maybe also a while after it has rained. I'd also like to see different sources of tinder – man made and natural. I'd also like to see methods for fishing – like crafting your own fishing rod and line from a branch and maybe paracord. It'd also be awsome if you were able to set up fishing stands so that you don't have to personally sit and guard the rod 24/7 but also so tht you can multiply your chances of catching fish. Bigger penalties for being out in the rain, maybe add hypothermia – going to mild symptoms like shaking to medium like not being able to use anything requiring your fingers (gun, canned food) to severe symptoms like a comtose state – but also the ability to construct rain shelters and use rainclothes / ponchos. A more refined medical system where you'd sometimes have to get help from other players other than for a blood transfusion. I'd like to see wounds that needs stitching, bandages that need changing unless you want an infection, wounds that will reopen if the player sprints too soon after getting it, broken bones that need splintin and maybe morphine in the beginning but maybe also several doses of painkillers later on. Last but not least... radios :) Let there be a pretty common radio pre-set on a public channel but with limited range. Then there would be more advanced ones that'd be more rare and with greater range. Just ask the ACRE guys if they'll let us use their mod :)
  2. Yes, it's the same for me.

Dead over a Box Of Matches...

So far in the latest patch I've found 2 ALICE packs, countless knives and watches, several high powered rifles but only one matchbox. I think they spawnrate is borked.
  4. A sandbox game can't really be played right or wrong. Both sides of the fence who can't comprehend the others playstyle and ridicule it are narrow minded asshats in my opinion. It was (is) the same in Eve-online where all the carebears would say that the pirates were sociopaths irl ans the pirates would say that the carebears would play the game wrong. No, bandits are not insane irl – believing so is so outlandish that it speaks more about you and your world view than the bandits.
  5. I think they should be able to. And since it's a matter of opinion...
  6. There's alot of stuff that's intentionally unrealistic in this mod – selecting one out of all is a bad argument.

Can anyone actually play at night?

I think alot of people who are referencing real life nights and claims that 100% pitch black nights are unrealistic haven't been outside in a heavy overcast night in a desolate area without light-pollution. To be comparable to the enviroment in day z you guys need to check out the nights in some national park or travel to northern alaska to get an idea of what it'd look like.
  8. After i find an axe I no longer have to respect the zombies. Just run to the nearest building and chop them down one by one. Super easy and super silent. I'd personally rather see the axe nerfed a bit tbh.

    How to develop trust?

I purposely don't pick up loot or drop gear that I'm afraid to loose so that I can interact with strangers without having to be afraid of loosing it. It's also about denying the enemy should they betray the trust. Talk to people over chat or preferably voip and get a feel for who they are. I imagine only a small minority of people would shoot another character over some polygon rifle after being social with him for an extended period.
  10. I also grew up on the countryside and yes, some nights you can see in fairly well but on others you can't distinguish your hand infront of your face. Seeing that Rocket has experience from the military he's probably also spent his fair share of time in pitch black dark nights and you'll probably have a hard time convincing him about those nights being unrealistic.

    Extreme griefing with barbed wire.

I see people suggessting that anti-personel barbed wire should easily be walked over by players. I'd like to take it one step further and let players eat barbed wire and tanktraps as emergency rations in case they find themselves in the middle of nowhere without food. Also, I think that if you have barbed wire in the inventory when killed, it will revive you, like a phoenix down potion in Final Fantasy.
  12. The question isn't wether or not people are using the correct technical terms of things but rather if the people they are talking to understand what they are reffering to. I'd say that most people understand eachother perfectly fine when they use clip and magazine interchangeably and likewise bullet and round. I'd imagine that only terminology freaks would be bothered by this and only know-it-alls sitting on high horses would ever make a thread on the subject.
  13. The nights are perfect. Props for rocket and the arma II team for having the balls to realistically render night time envireoments. And i've never seen a nvg in this game.
  14. Isn't it hard to bust a fortified position even in real life? I see no problem here. This effect is there to remind the player that he's not out in the open field and thus he have to carry himself with this in mind.
