Someone on reddit pointed out that one of the tester's in-game name was MediaCapture or something like that... hopefully that means we'll get a video update within 24 hours! -

Still @ 51 Players. It kills me knowing that Het and others are probably in there singing and dancing and we're still stuck on the outside :P -

52 players... but were they all singing and dancing? that's the real question here... and yes, Rocket should do an update after this... to quell the hype if nothing else. -
M14 fo' sho' I love the FNFAL a lot, but the M14 is more practical.

I'm still enjoying playing the mod in anticipation, but I absolutely understand your point.

i need a computer to run dayz, please help!
TheLastEmp replied to CrusaderaV's topic in Technology/Programming
Yes, that PC will definitely run DayZ beautifully... Looking at it, I'm a little jealous... -
Dear god, the entitlement some people feel really is astounding. Once Alpha is released and they have my hard earned money, I'll be just as critical about missed "release dates" (even though December 2012 was the only such instance) as anyone else on these forums. I guess this is what a development company gets for being as transparent and optimistic as they can be. I'm ashamed of those feel like they've been done an injustice by the Alpha no being released yet... Even just typing that out makes me feel fucking ridiculous. I'm giving it two more weeks, if it's not out then I'm going to assume Alpha will release in early January and move on to playing other games until then... Others should follow suit.

ARMA is a horribly optimized game... There are a number of tutorials on this forums for helping you achieve the best frame rate possible, but you're not going to get a significant gain no matter what you do considering your PC specs. DayZ SA will be better optimized than the mod though, so don't get too discouraged!

Congrats on the purchase. There's a ton of useful info on these forums to help you, but the best piece of advice is to go through some of the ARMA boot camp and familiarize yourself with the mechanics... only take a few minutes and will help a hell of a lot. If you have any questions or are looking for people to play with, you know where to find us!

Buddy of mine just built a pretty much identical PC to yours about a month and a half ago. It stomps BF3 and 4, but theres just one thing with the AMD FX series and DayZ If you're using an AMD FX CPU, you will likely have issues with shitty FPS in DayZ until you add -cpuCount=3 to your launch parameters. I'm running an FX-4100@ 3.8Ghz and a GTX 660 and was getting 5-15 FPS in cities in DayZ until I added -cpuCount=2 to my launch parameters (2 for a quad core. 3 for a 6 core) and am now getting 25-40 FPS in cities. Let me know how its workin for ya!

God bless you and your bandit morals KoS. Keep it up! :P

a SIMPLE guide to getting the most FPS
TheLastEmp replied to GrumpyGat (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I don't think anyone does... Normal is the lowest setting. -
In light of the recent posts, I'll retract my former statement regarding "missions". All of the ideas that were posted after my post have really fleshed out the idea and made it pretty appealing... I was just picturing "wasteland style" missions and couldn't help but cringe... 200 page bump

:P sounds like a solid plan. I would still download EVGA precision X and enable K-boost while playing DayZ... I think you'll find it helpful with the 680 as well. Edit: because the entire 600 series tries to throttle down when its not under load... causes some stuttering... enabling K-boost eliminates this.

Looking for staff for an upcoming Epoch
TheLastEmp replied to kyle213's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I'm interested. Haven't really found a Epoch server I like yet, and I'm not currently Administering on any other servers. I have a massive appreciation for fair and balanced gameplay and would love to be part of a server community that felt the same way. Steam: pyro4688 Skype: About to make a new account since after a year of DayZ playing I've got too many people I don't know on my personal one. I'll PM you it. -
My rig: AMD FX-4100 OC'd from 3.6 to 3.8 (going higher once I reapply thermal paste/ buy an H100) MSI FXA-GD80 mobo 8GB 1866 RAM GTX 660 (non-Ti) Overclocked using EVGA Precision X 7200 RPM 1TB HD 45-60 FPS in most of Chernarus. I had to do quite a bit of tweaking with Precision X and with some launch parameters in order to get the GTX660 to function properly with DayZ. If you haven't used EVGA precision X, and more importantly, the K-Boost feature, I would HIGHLY recommend downloading that before buying anything else! Seriously. I was really disappointed for the first week or two I had the GTX660, but Precision X made a world of difference. PM me if you have any questions, I'd be more than happy to skype with you and go over any questions or concerns. If it were me, I wouldn't do anything for another year at least... maybe a SSD just to improve load times. EDIT: I wouldn't SLI either, If I were going to upgrade the GPU, I'd sell the 660 on ebay and buy a GTX 700 series.

Making it essentially the same thing as Wasteland, just with zombies and fewer armored vehicles. I don't really like that mechanic, though I can't seem to articulate exactly why at the moment. EDIT: To me, simply having a big square box pop up in the right hand corner of the screen telling me about something going on in Chernarus seems immersion breaking... I'd rather be more concerned with surviving everything happening around me than with migrating 10k away to some "objective" that will probably be completed by the time I get there anyway... I dunno... I think it's mostly the immersion thing that bothers me.

My rig: AMD FX-4100 running at 3.8Ghz 8GB RAM @ 1866 GTX 660 3GB with a small OC 7200 RPM optical HD Windows 7 I'm getting ~15 FPS (20 max) in the big cities and only about 25-34 outside of the cities... I feel like I've tried every suggestion in every guide on these forums and can't seem to get a decent frame rate... The ONE thing I've noticed that might be an indicator of the problem, is that I've been monitoring my GPU's power consumption using EVGA Precision X, and it NEVER gets above 70%... Even with the settings maxed... It stays between 100-110% when playing BF4 and other games... Any ideas?

Thanks for the quick replies everyone... I had foolishly set the core count to 4... 2 makes a bit more sense for trying to get it to make the most of the CPU. I'll give everything a try and let you guys know what happens! EDIT: just changing the cpuCount to 2 has made a massive difference. 40-60 FPS outside of towns and 27-35 inside elektro. Downloading the Windows 7 hotfix for FX processors now... Ill let you know the results.

a SIMPLE guide to getting the most FPS
TheLastEmp replied to GrumpyGat (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
My rig: AMD FX-4100 running at 3.8Ghz 8GB RAM @ 1866 GTX 660 3GB with a small OC 7200 RPM optical HD Windows 7 I've gone through every friggin tutorial and guide to maximizing FPS and I still get 5-15 FPS when running around in Elektro. And only about 25-30 outside of the cities. I've tried putting the load on my CPU and on the GPU, and there seems to be almost no difference. I assumed it was pretty much the same for everyone until I was Het's post. He's got a pretty similar set-up in terms of speed but seems to outperforming me in spades... I need help :( EDIT2: If anyone is using an AMD FX processor, they should add -cpuCount=2 to the launch parameters if it's a quad core or -cpuCount=3 if its a 6 core... This just about doubled my FPS. EDIT: In the ARMAOA cfg file, I had already changed the GPU_detectedframesahead to 1, and decided to try setting GPU_MaxFramesAhead to 1 as well. This resulted in a small boost to my FPS. I was able to get no less than 17 FPS running through Elektro, the only problem was that my computer was freezing for about 2 seconds, once every minute or so... Should I try setting MazFramesAhead to... I dunno, 50? Also, should I expect to get any better than a steady 17-24 FPS running through Elektro with my rig? I just want to know when I should give up trying to make it better... -
Honestly, that right there is the best advice. I dunno if I'd watch too many youtube videos and such as I fell like it takes away from the adrenaline of initially just trying to survive.
