You don't have to be a bandit to not get captured... Honestly this game wouldn't be nearly as fun for me without the player interactions... I only KOS if I know they're a bandit or they shoot at me... If someone tries to hold me up or gets to close, we fight it out.

To be a Hero you must always be authoritative and take complete control of the situation. Never let some stranger pick up a weapon near you, always keep them in front of you etc. etc. And always assume that if you've fired shots, someone's heard them and is now trying to hunt you. time to play conservative and cautiously.

Rocket is aware of the idea and now that the item based physics have changed they're one step closer to implementing this. It hasn't been confirmed but I know in a convo between Sacriel and Dean, that Dean mentioned he really liked the idea.

Tip: Never go into one of these buildings
TheLastEmp replied to thequantum's topic in New Player Discussion
Been in them dozens of times and have never had a mishap... Just take it slow. My problem will be once they add binoculars in to the game... I'll keep trying to hit "B" and end up accidentally hitting "V" and vaulting myself off the roof. -
Join a highly populated server and try to sprint your way out of the wall... It might take a little bit, but eventually the server will desync and you will be released.
-
Have you seen the new dev blog? I think the game is still on the right tracks... I'm not worried in the least.

The fastest Intel quad core you can afford... that's honestly the only thing that matters in this game. I have an AMD Bulldozer quad core @3.8 Ghz and a GTX 660 and I get worse frames than you on low settings... You want Intel and you want Nvidia... the graphics card doesn't have to be great though... Edit: I would wait and save up for a little while longer... just be happy you're getting acceptable frames at all!

You should probably play on experimental build. That should fix the issues

Sorry, Processor most likely doesnt cut it. I didnt have much time this week... sorry for the delay

2 rags or 1 bandage i believe... but yeah, this ^^

To all the Bambies, watch FRANKIEONPCING youtube vids!
TheLastEmp replied to zor_prime1's topic in Gallery
Frankie has definitely taught me some things about strategy, but the best tactical advice I've gotten has probably come from watching PsiSyndicate and Sacriel42. Everytime I win a firefight by employing good strategy I know its because I've seen those guys do the same thing. -
You don't have to set it down... just put it in to your hands
-
look at the road signs as you approach the city... It'll be Elektrozovodsk, Chernogorsk, or Berezino. Even in Russian you can tell the difference between those three.
-
Sometimes a shot will make me jump, sometimes when I walk around a corner and there is a zombie there already moving towards me, I immediately think its a player and that scares me.

I actually have had better fps recently. Dean mentioned they did optimizations for nvidia first because nvidia submitted their profiles first, radeon is coming soon. And there will be many more optimizations throughout the entire development process... expect your fps to go up and* down. In retrospect, 10 is pretty damn low... what are your specs? Edit-*

OP has extensive experience as a game developer and is intimately familiar with the virtual reality engine their using so he's knows exactly what an acceptable amount of progress is....

Can anyone tell me, how many shots it takes with each weapon?
TheLastEmp replied to zor_prime1's topic in New Player Discussion
It depends on a lot of different factors, including health and blood levels and what exactly a player is wearing. It definitely takes more than one shot to take out a healthy player, especially with a pistol. Every caliber has a different damage, The specifics I am unsure of, but it definitely took a few shots from an m4 for me to take down a healthy player, you might actually be lucky you killed the first player at all, I have no idea... EDIT: Maybe I'm an idiot, I haven't ever shot a player with a magnum but given the damage of the .45 and the m4 I assumed a healthy player wearing pristine chest clothing could take a shot to the chest without passing out... -
Glad you got saved buddy, was just gonna offer to help! Got someone on here to come with a splint when I broke my leg randomly at the stop of a flight of stairs yesterday. I need to pay it forward :P

you want to keep the coast on your left, you'll go through two huge cities and then there will be an airstrip on your right after the second city.
-
Those I beaned above can at least run it to some capacity. If anyone would like specifics please re-post below. I'll continue to check in. EDIT: ARMA is weird and may work on some pc's that I haven't beaned, its kinda hard to know for sure.

You forgot the zeleno base http://dayzdb.com/map/chernarusplus#7.025.102 The locations of the water pumps throughout chernarus is probably the biggest reason using the DayZDB map feels cheap to me.,, I try not to use it
-
Maps can be found in gas stations and inside of cars and other such places, but you typically only find a quarter or a half of the map at one time. Googling "DayZ map" takes a lot of the fun out of the game and I would highly recommend avoiding looking at it. Just stay along the coast until you find a map (and preferrably a compass) and make your way to the north west airfield.

What is your current graphics card? I run a FX-4100 3.6Ghz and had a GTX550ti I upgraded to a GTX660 thinking it would give me better fps but because the Fx-4100 Bulldozer is such shit and this game is so cpu intensive, the gpu just idles around doing nothing... I wish I'd upgraded to a Vishera 3.9Ghz cpu instead of a new GPU...

In standard ARMA, yeah definitely. In DayZ SA... I have no idea. We need a "mythbusters" episode by PsiSyndicate
