Should be able to cut a few holes in a trash bag and put it over your person or backpack.

Battleye Problem - Can anyone help?
TheLastEmp replied to S1d3l1n3 (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Currently having a problem with battleye on the mod myself. Would love some suggestions if anyone has ideas. -
WHoops! thought this was for Standalone... If you're talking about the mod, you need to find a GPS, then you'll always know where you are when you look at a map. There is no way to permanently mark a location on your map.

Are you scared of the dark? Check out my new Triller Series "Traversing Darkness"
TheLastEmp replied to street707's topic in Gallery
The Ambient music needs to be added back in to the game. Makes it so much better. I still keep it on in the mod when I'm playing on Namalsk. -
As someone who tried to run DayZ on an Athlon X2 270 (3.4Ghz) I'm inclinced to say that it won't really be "playable" until all the optimizations are complete. Currently using an FX 4100 bulldozer OC'd to 4.1 Ghz and still occasionally dipping below 20 fps in cities. Maybe I just have the worst luck with AMD cpus...

I don't think it should be headshots only. But I do think the damage needs to be altered so that zombies take quite a few shots to the chest or one headshot.

Should I start DayZ Mod this late in the game?
TheLastEmp replied to Grimey Rick's topic in New Player Discussion
Check out ARMA 3 Breaking Point mod. It's a nice variation of the DayZ mod. Slower moving zombies but there are literally hundreds of them in each town. -
My first guess would be that you haven't run ARMA II and ARMA II OA. Run both of those in Steam first and then try opening up Commander. Also, did you install DayZ through Steam or through DayZ Commander? Please provide further information if my initial suggestion isn't the solution!

Should be able to play/record/stream. FPS may dip a bit in the larger cities but nothing unplayable.

Discussion: Giving Players a Reason to Interact, not just KOS.
TheLastEmp replied to D Train's topic in General Discussion
If you are in a group of two or more, people are a LOT less likely to be friendly towards you and much much more likely to shoot on sight. Can't take any chances when you're outnumbered. I was stalking two players and was going to hold them up but they spotted me and lured me in to a bit of a trap. They tried to get me to drop my gun but I evaded and doubled back around behind them. I killed both of them and hated myself for it afterwards. It was right after they released the SKS and I was being over protective :P -
Yikes you two... Look Oregonized, as another post pointed out; by your own reasoning, something like the exploit that let you duplicate items in the mod wouldn't be considered cheating.... That's fine if you have that opinion. But don't pretend like it isn't a serious "exploit" of the current condition of the game. It's not intended to be a part of the game and the devs will find a way to prevent it from happening. Just like with duping and other exploits. Both of you grow up though... where do you think we are? the internet?
-
They actually have confirmed that it is placeholder and by "they" I mean Rocket.
-
I think the general condition of the gun matters more than the condition of the scope. If there's any effect at all its minimal.
-
I would probably try playing on the experimental. I know that some people with higher end AMD components have been experiencing issues since they ran the optimizations for nVidia to the stable branch. I dunno if the optimizations from AMD went in with the experimental or not, but I do know that another user with similar issues reported the game being playable on experimental but still not as good as it was previously.

Friendlies are plentiful in DayZ- At least, for me
TheLastEmp replied to hannibaldaplaya's topic in General Discussion
Yeah, my experiences have been overwhelmingly positive as well. I'm probably due to lose all of my gear now that I've said something. Better go log in. -
SOLUTION: Player has to engage in a procedure in order to log out and not leave their character lying on the ground in game. They must do something which takes a certain amount of time AND involves them traveling a certain distance and building a "camp" (doesn't require materials). ...I dunno... just throwing something out there.

To me, it's no different from turning on god mode as soon as the going got rough in Quake when I was 10. Sure I got to continue to progress through the game. But it took most of the fun out of it. Unfortunately by the time I realized I wasn't really having much fun I'd already completely run through half the game, and you never get that discovery and accomplishment feeling when you're going legit, but already know the tricks of the map. I learned to respect the game.

That's why i quoted him for my sig. I dream of one day being kos'd by KoS. Edit: The quote was part of a much larger description of a game mechanic for recovery from an infection. Kinda want to look for it now. Edit2: yeah it was totally about a real life news topic here on the forums, and kind of an interesting one at that. Got ahead and copy my sig quote into the search and check it out

Blurry Graphics Glitch After Combat?
TheLastEmp replied to PoppinHeads's topic in General Discussion
Yeah, definitely make sure you report it if your post processing is off and your screen is blurry. Even if the all important "Healthy" icon is not showing; If your post processing is off your screen should not have any blur. Sooo many people hatin' on this thread. Chill. -
Why putting heart attacks in game makes no sense
TheLastEmp replied to Rick1633's topic in General Discussion
if if if You mean "when"? I can already taste the tears, they're delicious. -
Regardless of the "rules" (even though in your next post you claim there are "no official rules") PVE servers exist, And most loggers (in my experience) are so scared of other survivors that they don't engage or communicate with others AT ALL. Those that do, usually try to KOS and then run, hide and log off when they miss cause they have no idea what they're doing. They're exploiting a loophole in the game that allows them to be aggressors, and shoot on sight, but as soon as they're in any danger, they can bail. I try to play as a hero. I don't combat log. I die.... It makes the game that much more rewarding when things go well. As soon as a better log-off mechanic is implemented combat loggers will be forced to learn that. I understand the 30 second rule completely. Doesn't change my point that when you're in a standoff with someone they can easily logout without you knowing.
-
Yeah. Motherfucking THIS. Pin someone down somewhere. Wait twenty minutes. They don't come out. Decide to push in. No one there... But I'm still the one who sucks though right? not the combat logger who should be playing on a PVE server.
-
The game is a PVP game, there are plenty of Empty or PVE servers for a combat logger to choose. So when I'm in a server with 30 people, try to hold one of them up, and they combat log on me, it takes all of the fun and adrenaline out of the game. It's cheapening the game for the combat loggers because they are robbed of what could've been an exciting/amusing/interesting engagement. And if its not a positive experience, it would've provided a low point, making high points feel that much sweeter. In response to your second statement there... Do you even play DayZ bro? Someone goes prone behind a wall, there isn't a tunnel they can magically take to get away without you seeing. It's not that hard to track someone from 300m away.
-
Definitely was entertaining :D
-
No it fucking isn't. And you just spouted some random bullshit to feel like you won your argument. Regardless of whether you, specifically, combat log or not, there is no such thing as a "vaild reason to combat log". It's a function of the game that is unintended and is easily exploited. If was an intended aspect of the game (which makes zero sense) then sure... It cheapens the gaming experience for everyone, including the loggers. EDIT: Clarification of the word "you"
