So long as they fix the Head-bobbing so that I don't get motion-sick I'm all in... The head-bobbing is just a little too much for me when running long distances.

I actually agree with a lot of the OP's suggestions. Not that they should all be implemented, but simply the concept of making zeds a little bit more wary and giving them better awareness at night, or adding in 1 or 2 heavily mutated zeds across the server that players can try to hunt down, would add more of a threat from zeds and it absolutely would give people more of a reason to play cooperatively. I can't even tell you how many times I've been playing Origins and had players broadcasting the location of the Dr.Ivan zed, trying to get people to help take him out. People naturally want to team up to work toward a common end, but there isn't much of a mechanism in the game to promote that. I think the Day/Night cycles proposed by OP are way too short, and honestly, I like having them be on a 24hr. cycle. I do believe night time needs to be more difficult though.

Long time Dayz player looking for a group to join
TheLastEmp replied to MatthewSzanyi's topic in Clan / Group Recruitment
What time zone/region are you in? I'm somewhat restricted in my play times because my DSL network is oversold. I don't have a vanilla public hive character at the moment (died about a week ago and have been playing DayZero) but it would be fun to try to get geared up again and partner up! If timezone/region work out I'll hit you up with my skype name. -
As the OP mentioned. All fresh spawned cars would have keys already in them. either in the "gear" or lying in or around the vehicle somewhere. Considering the above, I really like the idea of car keys in the game... If you come across a car that no one has "claimed" the keys will still be there. If you come across a car that someone has already investigated and is intending to repair it, they may have taken the car keys... Regardless, if you think the coast is clear and the vehicle is fixed up, you can get the vehicle running without a key by hot-wiring it (will take a minute and will draw some attention). I dunno... I'm really intrigued by the idea and am having trouble coming up with a reason why it shouldn't be added...

Godspeed the magnificent bastard.

Using text is okay imo (if you slow it down a little bit ;)) , although adding your own voice adds a uniqueness to youtube videos that should not be underestimated. ... assuming your interested in attracting more views and "likes"...

I run an AMD FX-4100 3.8 and it seems to handle reasonably well... my guess is that the standalone will run a bit smoother for you. I dunno what the socket type is for the Phenom processor but it wouldn't cost you much more than $100 to pick up a new cpu.

I understand the desire for a directional melee swing, especially considering how difficult is has been to land a vertical swing on a zombie that's constantly moving around you. Given the changes to the zombies, I believe a single directional swipe, from upper right to lower left, would be sufficient. The one element that makes a lot of sense to me and seems more or less essential in a zombie survival game would be a block/push option. I love some of the ideas regarding push/block listed above, and think it would add a whole lot to both PvE and PvP interactions!!

I've heard dayZ doesn't like SLI... Don't think that would cause the game to have issues starting up though. "connection failed" warning makes me think that its related to BattleEye or something like that... If you've run both ARMAII and ARMA:OA then I'm at a loss for suggestions :(

I will second Orlok's statement. There is a lot of really great content to be had with ARMAII Combined Ops. I wouldn't wait if I were you, it will likely be quite a while before the Stand Alone is completed (post-beta). Pretty clear from your posts that you would make a capable and effective team mate. Edit: As far as military/shooter/survival games go, this one is very tame. There is a lot of intensity that can give me an adrenaline spike and leave my hands shaking for a minute, but that's just the immersion and attachment to my character when he gets in to a dangerous situation. The only real issue here is unintelligent and immature people typing egregious things over side-chat. This will vary widely depending on what servers you play on. If other, immature players are your father's concern, there are servers that have side-chat disabled. Edit #2: It's refreshing to come across a young person as mature and well spoken as you. Welcome addition to the community in my book.

Reloading ammo is really very simple, but if you've never done it before there are certainly some potentially serious consequences for screwing up, that's a fair point. However, I would think that (both in-game and irl) after finding a basic set of instructions, just about anyone should be able to reload their own ammo. I still think it makes sense in-game if you had to find a crafting recipe (reloading manual) first. I do believe there would be significant lag from trying to keep track of all the shells going everywhere, but I really see that as being the only reason why you wouldn't want to have ammo reloading in the game.
-
You wouldn't really even need to melt it down... there are things you can use to clean shells and casings. A generator might be necessary to run the equipment necessary, but that seems like a really awesome idea to me... I love the prospect of having to try and find spent shell casings to keep my supply of ammo up.

Might want to send a PM to AmberHelios . He's kind of the go to guru with things like this. As far as I know there aren't any compatibility issues with any of the components in your bro's computer... I really haven't the foggiest idea what could be causing it.

Gamescom - August 2013 - Interviews/Gameplay
TheLastEmp replied to SmashT's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
^^ absolutely ^^ It seems to me like things have been progressing really well the past couple months. The game looked absolutely beautiful and it looked sharp and responsive too. Glad to know that the only thing keeping them from releasing the Alpha at this point is the network bubble. Honestly, I'm very impressed with how it looks at this point. -
DayZ Origins' Developers mass banning innocent people from their mod
TheLastEmp replied to paiku's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Thanks for the heads-up OP. I don't play Origins as much any more, but I'll have to check if I'm banned when i get home from work just for curiosity's sake. And yes... The Origins devs are total scumbags IMO -
"knock, knock" "Who's ther-- Oh god, it hit me through the door!! Oh god, it's inside now! Oh god, Somebody help me!" What do you think dulix? :)

When DayZero Podagorsk is finished it might be just the ticket... It should be well optimized and is a good size!

I know everyone is really resistant to any sort of "skill system" for characters. But I sorta think there's some potential for this... might need to be seriously thought through...

Bandit code and WTF is KoS meaning?
TheLastEmp replied to wild_man's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
But... Kos's definition is different... He doesn't kill anything that moves... he has guidelines he follows... by my understanding he is a bandit, not a KoS player. That was the whole point of my post. ...derp yourself... -
My beans. Have them please.

Bandit code and WTF is KoS meaning?
TheLastEmp replied to wild_man's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Just realizing, I think some of the issue here is our definition of the term KoS. When people throw around the term KoS, most people think "Someone who attempts to kill any player they see regardless of their threat level (whether or not they have a weapon) or where they're going (headed in the opposite direction)". KoS's definition is obviously a little bit different. He is, as most people would describe it, a bandit. "Someone who actively seeks combat with other players as a means for attaining better gear and for the excitement of the thrill of the hunt." Players who have no gear and are unarmed are not viable for attaining better loot, nor are they exciting to kill because they don't put up a fight. Bandits are a necessary element of the game and increase the perceived risks involved with doing anything, and add to the tension and excitement that make this game so popular. KoS'ers (As I've defined them) Are typically newbs and are simply scared shitless by anyone and everything in the game... If they're not newbs, than they're noobs, and are still scared shitless by anything and everything in the game because they're terrible at it. I do recognize that this is strictly my opinion and that my definitions are entirely subjective. But I do believe defining terms (such as "bandit" and "kos") help to reduce the miss-communication between all of the wonderful folk on these forums. Cheers -
Bandit code and WTF is KoS meaning?
TheLastEmp replied to wild_man's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I do the exact same thing as KoS when I'm playing on Origins or crazy DayZ servers with tons of loot. I think imposing some "rules" or guidelines for yourself when you play is a great way to keep the game interesting, challenging, and fun. Bandits like KoS make the game as fun as it is. -
In essence, if you could reduce your excitements and expectations down to one, single, hypothetical experience or encounter. What would it be? As an example (and to get things started): I am crazy excited for the first time I'm wandering through Cherno and come across a player tied up with zip-ties struggling to break free. I'll know he's already been robbed and probably won't have anything of value for me... but he will have knowledge of which direction his assailants went... and what they're geared up with... So when I cut his zip-ties and hand him the winchester in my bag and tell him "it's time to go hunting"... I'll know that the Standalone is everything I'd hoped it would be... *Stated simply, I can't wait to free someone from their zip-ties and help them get revenge*

Satchel charges - stay or go?
TheLastEmp replied to crazykid1297's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Raymond gets my beans as always... I think improvised explosives should be a craftable item in the SA, they just need to be difficult to craft...
