I've seen all the praise this game gets and I have watched many entertaining streams of DayZ on twitch. Now that i have bought it though I am not having fun at all, it is borderline frustrating. Every life seems to play out like this: I spawn near some random town. I enter the town, find literally no supplies even though I search every house. I keep going from town to town, EVENTUALLY after about 30 minutes of running I find a can of beans. It's just frustrating as hell. Why when I watch streams it seems like there is supplies in every house, but when I play I have to run across three towns to find supplies? I have checked youtube and gotten rough maps of which houses I should check in elektro, cherno, etc. This is how my last life played out: Spawned as far west as I could go. Walked through 2 towns, found some empty whiskey bottles, some Lee enfield ammo but no enfield. Got to Balota, went to the air base and picked up an M4 and 4 stanags. I then ran all the way from there to elektro. Somehow my character started coughing and losing blood. By the time I got to elektro my guy was passing out. I shot at a player out of desperation and killed him. 2 of his buddies showed up and I killed both of them too. Then I passed out and died in a pool of mucus and fecal matter. I understand the concept of this game very well. But the fact that it takes me 30 minutes to run to a town only to die of catching a cold is annoying to me. I want to have fun playing this game but I guess I lack the know-how.

I'm new to the game and was wondering what some funny moments you guys have had. Probably the funniest thing I've done so far was go into a tower in elektro with an m4. I popped off a few rounds and people started talking in direct chat and sounded panicked "who is shooting?! " I then emptied 4 stanags full auto into the sky and people were freaking out in direct. Then someone got me with an enfield.

What will you give me for them? I need tools and supplies still.

So I went into elektro today with headphones on. Scariest experience ever. Every single little noise makes you extremely paranoid. And when I was trying to abort I could hear the zombies getting extremely close and it was probably the most nerve-racking experience I have had so far on this game. The server I was on only had 3 people, but I've been sniped on a server with 3 people before -_- so that just added to the tension. Edit: the reason I was in elektro was because I am completely out of bandages which made my problem even WORSE. One hit from a zed could easily end my game right now.

How do you keep all these items lol

Sorry guys. I was on an empty server and found some glitched bodies or something in elektro school, they had loot on them and I took the m107 mags since I thought they would be worth something.

Sorry I guess I should add more info. Server: I'm on the dayz public hive. I'm a survivor, I haven't shot at anyone before. Time: we can work it out We can communicate over Skype. Location: we will find an empty server on the public hive and meet somewhere along the shore.

What will you give me for 3 m107 mags, I need supplies and tools still.

You had every right to loot his body. He opened fire on you and died in the act, he was just trying desperately to convince you that he's in control. IE "You don't take my stuff and I guess I'll let you keep yours." He deserved to lose his stuff for randomly shooting someone not posing a threat to him. Earlier today I came across someone while I was running across an extremely open field really exposed. But he didn't see me, so I just dropped and kept an eye on him with binoculars. He went on his way and I escaped.

Yes I started with one bandage and flares as well. It is because you are on an official server, I didn't want the artificial experience of playing on a private hive.

Well for one the game engine itself is a huge limiting factor. I need more info on your CPU but I'm going to guess it is pretty old as it is paired with a 9100. I am sorry to say your system may just very well be too old.

The post was rather long and I don't have time to read it all but if you go into the config file there are two values you should set to 1. One is something related to the gpu with a default value of 1000. Set that to 1. The other is something related to how many frames it should draw in advance or something. The default value is 3, again set it to 1.

well I would like to think my ability when it comes to convential fps (in terms of gun play, positioning, etc.) is a bit beyond average. I am a pretty seasoned gamer I just have never experienced anything like dayz and I have to admit it is quite thrilling now that I have some of the basics figured out.

The first half of your post was helpful and I appreciate the advice I think the latter part of your comment maybe came from confusion or lack of communication on my part. Update to my current status in game: to avoid being capped by snipers I've started playing empty servers. Tonight I looted 4 drinks, some useful tools, *MAP* binoculars, a Remington 870(not my favourite but it'll have to do for now) and some other supplies. I will have to make a tough choice as now I have no bandages at all and I am too scared to even attempt to loot any and risk all my progress. I also have matches and a pile of wood I think I'm going to have myself a nice barbecue soon (I lost a lot of blood when I was bleeding and didnt have time to bandaid myself :s)

I have asked a friend who doesn't play on public hives to let me harvest his band aids a few times. Then I think my next move is to start looting deer stands (I can actually do this now that I have a map) another question I have is this: when someone has a ridiculous amount of good stuff what do they do so they minimize the risk of losing it? Is there a way to store your valuable items

Find someone who has clearly never played and trick them. Probably tell them to go loot a barn and I will cover him and then shoot him until he falls over and let zombies finish him off.

Well I just had the best run so far. i went to a server with 0 people on (except for myself) and it was night so I just turned the brightness and gamma up and viola. I spawned right near elektro, I looted 4 pepsis a bunch of sardines and medical supplies (Although now Im out of bandages) a shotgun, map, binoculars, and compass. Now I'm not sure what to do, looting seems too risky without bandages. Can someone tell me what the best thing would be to do? I logged out in a fire hall and I am too scared to run to the hospital and break the glass because I inevitably get hit atleast once when trying to smash it with a can.

Alright thanks for the help I have a friend who doesn't like official servers so he's gonna cap himself and give me his band aids lol. I am too scared to leave where I am, if I make one mistake I can easily lose my best run yet (and an entire Wednesday night of work)
