    YES There has to have been some intent/purpose or humanity wouldn't be in the game. Stick with your own gut instinct and ideas.

    Instead of skinning Bandits differently, anytime a player dies with a humanity score below a certain level, they re-spawn as Zombies. Zombie players cannot use weapons, but must hunt and kill humans to survive. Zombies completely disintegrate if they do not consume enough human flesh. Zombies spawn in the places NPC Zombies do. NPC Zombies totally ignore player Zombies. Zombies can only use Zombie world chat. Zombies must kill x humans before they can re-spawn as a human survivor.
