People forget fundamental thing that combat-logging fixes are used in DayZ mod and at least something similar will appear in the DayZ standalone. This game is still ALPHA so there isnt much to do ingame yet other then KoS simply because you can get fully geared up easily and ruined gear doesnt matter much at the moment. Also there isnt base building yet or anything to store your items and game is lacking in items, as well in activities. So please try not to forget its ALPHA and this subject has been posted countless times.

@Fireflight Trial and error. If you get killed for a thousand times and still getting killed, then you must be doing something wrong. Understandably everybody dies, but your life span depends on your wits, skill and ability to learn what you may have done wrong during the events that led to trouble.

I have noticed the wide spread in topics called "interesting ideas". Most of the time this is causing waste of time, when ideas they are making are already suggested on their own topics, so please use the search function and see if the topics exists, sometimes they may need fresh start if constructed poorly, but highly recommend continuing previous posts to give more support for the idea, you are trying to bring out. I suggest people with several fresh ideas divide their ideas in to different topics, unless they somehow connect with each other in reasonable manner. Otherwise some ideas may not get the attention they deserve, cause of the divided posts and topics.

You have to take in to account the Russian state of Chernarus is fictional and doesnt not exist, so demanding english translations is simply outrageous, because you say some real Russian cities may have translated names on them. The unknown names give additional survival experience and you have to use your wits to know your position on the map. Simply by knowing shape of town, landmarks and terrain you know where you are. Navigating is a survival skill.

Considering this is a video game, things like tats should be something you earn by effort, so it becomes extra activity to do in the wasteland. Spawning with most thing ready on you pretty much drains the fun, its the journey that matters.

Only time you see someones name is when they chat and it should remain that way simply cause you cannot recognize that person otherwise. People with microphones however are completely anonymous, but their voices can be recognized.

Please STOP posting the same topic over and over again, i have seen the "class" topics being posted countless times, its time to stop. Have i ever told you the definition of insanity?

When i drop out of communication with one of my friends, i like to confirm if they are still ingame or not, cause confusion is deadly enemy in combat situations. Also why bother removing it, when admins can monitor who joins in and other players use something like gametracker to see player list anyway.

This has been suggested already, but nice to see it brought up. The seasons will be lot of work, but i do not believe its difficult as many here believe it is. Simply by replacing textures you could make winter on Chenarus, thats good enough for ALPHA and BETA versions.

I think general complexity is something you should change, but matter of beards, tats, weight and everything els should be influenced through gameplay. Have a friend cut your hair with scissors or use razor to shave your beard, as well your diet effects you weight and complexity, starve too much and you start looking like made of sticks, but makes your character becomes weak, as well poorly resistance to deceases.

Id say the infection behind the zombies in DayZ is something similar to walking dead, so being bitten is unrelated for being infected by zombie virus and the deadliness behind the bites is the deadly bacteria on the teeth and saliva. As for terms of taking zombies clothing is silly,i understand covering yourself with zombie guts, but taking bacteria ridden clothing from zombies and wear it is going to make you sick definitely.

The only environment related we really need is the seasons and basic weathers.

This idea is pretty worthless If you have to go boring PvE then make own private server when you can, but causing such restriction with in the game itself is just idiotic and waste of developers time. The whole aspect of this idea is taking away the whole purpose of the game. Our society is so rotten, that in the event apocalypse people wouldnt go like hippies making friends and restoring civilization. NO, people would get paranoid when unknown people arrive with unknown motives and you dont want to risk your life or your friends

I agree, M107 has no place in post-apocalyptic world and in terms of logic, not a single helicopter or anyone would be carrying this weapon in a zombie outbreak, since it doesnt serve a function, that anyother lighter sniper rifle couldnt do, its not like zombies are driving armored vehicles. Its massively unpractical weapon and only encourages shooting-on-sight simply because you cannot move it around that well. Id say every single smart person in apocalypse would leave this weapon be even if they didnt have a weapon at all, simply because its dead weight. Also civilians do not drive around with armored cars to escape, so not necessary and actual tanks could stop them as well, that would have been there to stop outbreak.

Already posted this idea on other suggestion section before this DayZ section came up. However my suggestion takes the weapon maintenance a step further to add weapon assembling to the game, where you have to break up your weapon to clean it completely.

How about taking the time to turn your head? (alt button)

It simply is how the world works, but it wont remain like that forever. The whole aspect of winter is part of survival and would offer change to the survival experience. Struggling to survive hypothermia with additional clothing and taking a risk making camp fires that might get spotted. Also cant find food in the wilderness other then hunting and ponds become frozen and dangerous.

Since the bottomline of the game is having our knowledge transferable in to the game, id suggest adding complexity to the firearms. The knowledge of breaking down weapon, cleaning it and assembling it back together is a practical skill itself. It would also add risk factors in to the game. Poor weapon maintenance resulting in more frequent weapon jams and these can result either simple bolt out the jammed round or may have to disassemble the weapon to unjam it. Also when finding unlooted weapons, can take their important components as spares if unable to retrieve the whole weapon. This would also make knowledge of firearm more useful when picking your weapon, such as AK-47 which is very reliable weapon but not the most accurate and finding supplies for it should be easier in soviet state, then finding parts for M4 (Unless planning to add components of backstory that brings NATO troops to assist with the containment, so finding M4 can be more common).

There is already suggestion about having all four seasons in the world of chenarus, which i personally find more appealing, then having certain areas with snow that people rarely go.
-
DayZ is about what would happen if you were thrown to survive in apocalyptic world, so you have to adapt to the situation. If DayZ would happen right now and you didnt know how to maintain a weapon then some mystical button isnt coming to save you. Besides the weapon assembling is pretty simple task and all you have to do is clean it with gun oil.

I find this topic name confusing, the term MMO doesnt mean it has to be massive in aspect of player size. id say playing 40 player survival on 230km^2 world is pretty massive. Also please stop complaining about the absence of items, it is on ALPHA stage so developer is focusing on optimizing the game. However feel free to make suggestions about items and such, but keep in mind we are long way from final product.
-
When we get to new weapon additions they should be civilian oriented weaponry. Once they add weapon maintenance mechanics then military weapon such as AK-47 should appear, considering its one of the most popular weapons on earth. Not the most accurate of weapons, but definitely one of the most reliable ones, specially in apocalypse.
-
Id recommend not adding this feature to the game, it would definitely be used for twisted purposes.

The ONLY Realistic Way to Prevent Deathmatching: Make DayZ a Living Hell
JuX replied to Time Glitch's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Frankly the kill on sight mentality is a bit blown out of proportion cause many do not know the otherside of the story. many times i have been scoping out people and let them live without them knowing i was watching them and could have eliminated them at any given moment. They simply do not know such event had taken place, cause they didnt know i was there. Its impossible to say how many times this occurs ingame, but people do know when KoS had taken place. Also some KoS events arent either sides fault cause when you are spooked by unexpected player, then you're first response is to shoot them cause there isnt time for diplomacy and not taking the risk of finding out if friendly or not.
