Improvised Iron sight, Conceal items in books, and wooden shiv

Not all the common any more with bolt guns. AR's are doing it too if you buy a factory one. However improvised irons are complete BS. We don't have the ability (unless the devs have added welding, drilling, tapping and filing random bits of metal in the time I've been away) in this game to make a sight which is A) strong enough to be considered even barely servicable and B ) presicse enough to be useable. That's without mentioning the fact that the sighting system itself does not effect accuracy, it just determines how well we aim based on our skill. Would rather guess based on the barrel like a shotgun without a bead then rely on anything that's been suggested like this.
  2. First heli's ever seen working will result in the largest concentration of anti-aircraft fire from non AA weapon since AA weapons were invented. I'd be willing to go at one with a damn MP133 and a Python for all the good it'd do. I doubt they'll be in the air long enough to see anything meaningful.

    Winchester 1895

Not to be confused with the Marlin 1895 or Savage 1895. A rough estimate of 300,000 of these were made between 1915 and 1917 for a Russian Empire military contract and made their way across the world via various wars. The Russian models were chambered in 7.62x54r and were to compliment the Mosin-Nagant already in service (known in game as the Mosin 9130). They were modified to order by Winchester to use the same stripper clips and Bayonet (but most likely not the PU scope and not sure on Mosin bayonet but it did have a bayonet) as the Mosin and it was also used in limited numbers by the US military in 1 or 2 calibers. Held 5rds as standard. It was made famous by former US president Theodore "Teddy" Roosevelt carrying two chambered in .405 on an African safari trip, referring to it as his "Medicine stick" or "Big medicine" (conflicting reports about what he said) and it was used to hunt the big 5. It is also the last rifle ever designed by John Moses Browning for Winchester (google him if you don't know what his contributions to the firearms world are) I suggest that these be added as a weapon that fires slower than the SKS but faster than the Mosin and has similar(if not the same) power as the Mosin due to using the same cartridge. It should be less common that the Mosin but more common than the B95 (which should be really rare because it's $7,000) due to it being used less in the military. and like with 90% of all my suggestions a add a video of Hickok45 playing with one. He must have fired at least 50% of all makes and models of firearm around the world by now. EDIT: and it would shut up all the people wanting lever actions with a somewhat more realistic rifle than a marlin1894 or a rossi puma.
  5. I don't see any fluted barrels. You can get a pretty decent crown on a barrel with files and a screw (plus valve cutting compound). Carving is just hand tools. You can do it with a pocket knife or an axe. Iron sights are often held on by screws. I don't know why someone would shorten a bolt handle on a mosin, but many have, or have been modified to have, bent bolt handles over the 100 odd years they have been around. Iron sight relocation can be done with files and such. Hand tools and time for the fabricated grips. We done here?

    Taking out weapons WHILE moving

What they need to do is get rocket into one of those mocap suits and animate the running draws and such. AFAIK they have just modded old mocaps.
  7. Twice as much as what it would be if it was divided by two.

keep track of where items are in inventory

Known issue. Devs are probably working on it if they say it is a known issue in the patch notes.
  9. Fictional thing from an Anime called Sword Art Online. (Check it out, if only the first episode. Its awesome.) Basically Full VR, disables your body and lets you use your brain to control your movements. I want it to happen but I doubt that i'll ever see it. The by product was that it could scan your face.
  10. ... reminds me of something that happened in correlation with another piece of awesome tech. What was it again? Oh yeah, Nerve Gear from Sword Art Online. See how well that worked out for them. I'd accept this if we did have nerve gear but that ain't happening for a while and thus i don't see the need.
  11. How do you attach the end cap of the magazine back on then? How do you ensure the mag spring is in the right place? If they do it right, like with the sawn off (can see cut marks in the end of the barrel) then you will probably only be able to cut the barrel to the mag tube or just the stock.
  12. I hope sawing it down only removes the stock unless it has a barrel longer than the mag tube. But then the front sight should have gone. Also it's spelt Carbine.... I think he is thinking of "LA Logune Carabine" from FNV....

    New Character Traits

Engineer would be more useful on firearms these days. Lots of tiny, precisely machined screws, pins and interlocking surfaces. Hell I wouldn't want to work on the Colt Python in game without some sort of knowledge of engineering. Very few people outside of a Colt Factory can fix those properly. Blacksmiths on Bladed weapons and Blunt metals would work. However I don't think this system should be introduced, else everyone would stack one job which is superior. Nor will it stop KOS as people KOS for reasons other than needing gear.

    Sawed-off shotgun - range?

Full length shotgun for me is 2 shells point blank to the chest of a zombie. All it does to players is ruin their shit. Until it gets buffed I run rifles and magnums.
  15. I just want to say this one thing. Fuck people who are getting confused over this. Currently this game is quite realistic (not getting into the .308/7.2x54R debate) but it works. Unlike a real zombie apocalypse, you have the ability to use the internet and gather information in seconds. IRL if this happened most of you would have died already and about half that survived would be trying to do stuff like shoving .380 into a original Colt SAA or .44 magnum into a Mosin not knowing what is wrong with doing that. The rest will have an Idea but will have a good chance of putting 20 Gauge into a 12 gauge or 8MM mauser into a 30/06 and there will be a small percentage that knows what they are doing or has their own shit sorted. Either get your shit tucked in the firearms department or learn to run away when you can't load that SKS with the 7.62 ammo you found while leaving behind all that 7.62x39. That is all.
  16. Yeah, no. They should be unknown until you Hit "Inspect". As stated before, it is very common for the calibre to be written on both the round and the firearm. But the photo should show the right round so gun nuts and people who remember have it rather than having to sit around and hit inspect. Successfully loading them would mean alot of trial and error for nothing. A .308 is not going to fit in a .44 magnum, so why should i have to go through all the ammo until i find out I have tons of .357, .45acp, .308 and no .44? Especially if i can recognize them for real.
  17. Actually.... They do. Well guns that is. This is a close up of a .40s&W 1911 This is a picture of a colt python. You can see ".357 Magnum" written below "Python .357" And this is a picture of my Norinco JW15A taken just a few minutes ago. (i'm not very good with photos) Also, 90% of the time (unless we are talking milsurp, but then it's iffy) the base of the casing will have the calibre written on it in one form or another.

    Random weapon jams

I'd rather have these things related to, firstly, the ammo then the Mags (if required) and then, finally, the firearm itself. That is basically the main ways things jam. Bad ammo then Bad mags then mechanical fault. I'd also like firearms to degrade with use. Not quite to the length of Far cry 2, but more like FNV. Cleaning can return the condition to pristine unless the weapon has been damaged by an outside source in which case it can only change it to worn.
  19. I'm sort of saving my Character on there for when i can play with a friend. Though It hasn't been used since the SKS was added (got one). I should probably put my char to use though.
  20. SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH..... Was one of the best kept secrets for those not afraid of stairs who explore. I'm the only guy among my group of friends who goes upstairs in Firestations these days and they didn't want to follow me up one of these until i told them about the loot. In a fully looted town with one of these building, there is always the possibility that nobody had bothered with this building.
  21. Still an AK, thus better than a semi-auto subgun that doesn't see much use outside the US. I'd expect a lower priced S&W/Ruger/Taurus before i saw a Python in Chernarus too.
  22. Usually with the revolver in game you just hit an extractor which, in theory, dumps all the unfired casings out. Also I think you should check this game out if you want that much detail in gun handling. http://store.steampowered.com/app/234190/
  23. It does matter. Well to me and probably many others. I will point this out to you though, when was the last time you saw/heard/read about a SUB-200 being used/shot/imported to anywhere other than the USA? I'd expect an FN FAL to be there before this firearm.
  24. I don't think it should be in. It's just doesn't suit the atmosphere. I'm not saying the M4, Blaze or any of the pistols other than the P1 and CR75 fit the setting but this isn't what we should be seeing. Unless you can link me to valid evidence that the SUB2000 is popular in , oh let's say, the Czech Republic then I think it shouldn't be in. (Valid evidence for me includes gun shops listing them in advertisement, Police seizure with them in the photos and stuff like that)
  25. Isn't Czechoslovakia just the Czech republic and Slovakia now? Also the lower only decides whether or not the Ar is a pistol or a rifle in legal terms (in America). In the apocalypse laws about barrel length won't matter. Therefore the Lower should only decide full or semi auto.
