Seems with the small update last night [like 5mb] that zombies are back.

If we're getting bears then I want a .44 mag revolver in game. For obvious reasons. Make the ammo harder to get than .357 and the spawn rate about 1/3 to 1/2 of the Magnum and about 1.5 times the damage with about a .25 to .5 increase in recoil (N-Frame smith with a 6 in. barrel is quite heavy compared to a 6 inch Colt Python) and it should be fairly balanced. Numbers used to find muzzle energy comparison... http://www.ballisticsbytheinch.com/megraphs/357mag.html Used Federal 125gr JHP out of a 6 inch barrel. http://www.ballisticsbytheinch.com/megraphs/44mag.html Used Federal 240gr JHP out of a 6 inch barrel. Both are fairly common loads for a .357 and a .44. Infact the .44 load is similar to the original designed by Elmer Keith (The father of the .44 Magnum).

Yep. This is also why I'll be running a full case of Linus Tech edition Noctua fans. (Antec 300). CPU needs all the help it can get to stay cool during summer.
-
Intel's stopped throwing in stock coolers with the K series Skylakes (Might have started before this) and I'm in Australia. Even if I ran a non-oc cpu I'd be looking at aftermarket cooling as it can get over 40 degrees Celsius here. Don't want my Idle temps to match people's loaded temps. I'm planning on running a Noctua NH-D15 for when I eventually build my PC. With a I5-6600k but I'll be overclocking (Eventually) and in the summer my room can get to 40+ degrees with no AC available.

What was it like the first time you ever saved someone?

Does not shooting people when I have the chance count? Cause I used to do that alot... then get shot at by them. Only reason I don't continue is that I don't consider my laptop worthy of gaming anymore. -
This is true. But past 400m I doubt the enemy in the target zone hearing the shot will be an issue.

I'd say an "average" pc build these days (if you can even define an "average" gaming pc) on the intel + nvidia side (I don't understand the AMD numbers yet. I'm a little shaky on intel/nvidia too) would be... 2-5th gen I5 or I7 (Skylakes going to start creeping in here as it gets cheaper/more available) 8GB+ of DDR3 ram (DDR4 with Skylake cpus) A GTX 660-780 GPU (some 970's might sneak in here) Whatever Mobo fits what you have and has what you want Decent air or AIO water cooling (eg Corsair H100i ish) PSU that runs the hardware and doesn't break the bank. SSD as OS & select games with maybe a HDD for extra storage. EDIT: Actually this is possibly over "average" by a bit. Don't really look at other people's builds often enough.

Look it's entirely possible to shoot any firearm over 400m. It's just how much angle it needs to be on. For this you could just use some holdover to get the longer shots. The round is perfectly capable of it.

Ok, back again. http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/rfvKvK Planned build minus mouse, USB front hub, monitors and an OS. Notes: 980 wouldn't be bought straight away, a stop gap card would be sourced used. (GTX 660-770 is in the stop gap gpu budget) The Antec case was chosen because it's sitting on my bench right now, thus the need for a USB hub. Noctua fans were chosen because I'm getting limited edition LTT versions because reasons. Also I heard they're good. Would probably run Win10. Gotta pull the key off a dead laptop to use. M.2 SSD is being used because I have the port on the Mobo so I may as well use it. I don't need an i7 for just gaming. No real colour scheme. I'd probably end up getting Cable mod cables in black/whatever colour I don't have when/if I get them. More likely to get more HDD down the track. Don't trust AIO water cooling or kits on my first ever build. G430 Headphones because I've used them and love them. No plans for mouse. Probably whatever I like on ebay/newegg/local computer store that fits my "needs" (read: wants) Looking to run 1080 triple monitors but they'll probably end up being what ever is cheap to source at the time of build.

Guys, as good as some of these suggestions may be (i haven't read them or I'd be picking at least one apart right now), please put this in the suggestions thread.

Well.... actually you can. The typical saw down of a tube mag firearm is cutting the barrel down to the end of the tube. So turning this: into this: The problem with this suggestion is that (to my knowledge, haven't played in a while) we don't have a tube mag firearm with a barrel significantly longer than the mag. Going any shorter requires skills that the typical person wouldn't know and tools we don't have in the game. Yet. -
Suggestion for putting a pistol in your pants as a holster...
Dchil replied to .joeys's topic in Suggestions
Triggers aren't exposed. Mag release should be above the belt line as should the hammer. Safety is just as unlikely. String goes around the barrel/slide and is stopped by the trigger guard if sized properly. The sight is the most likely snag point but pockets are worse than this. It isn't a quick draw setup but it's more secure than stuffing it in your belt. Retention is important. -
This also you need to have the card powered (It's been a problem before on here when somebody had the card but not a 6 pin to it) and the settings up high enough that it'll use the GPU.

Suggestion for putting a pistol in your pants as a holster...
Dchil replied to .joeys's topic in Suggestions
To be perfectly honest, this is a viable form of carrying a pistol. It's called mexican carry. I'm not at all against this as long as you couldn't do this with certain pairs of pants. The major problem is not that they would be too tight, but they would be too lose and wouldn't be able to support the firearm. So no doing it with tracky dacks. It is a dangerous form of carry but it can be done. But there is a trick that makes it easier if you have a belt. Which I wouldn't mind being a requirement. It's a loop of string which provides a place for the firearm to rest so it won't slide down your pants and keeps it in one spot. Just a piece of string or a shooelace is all you need. Oh, some history on the subject. -

Technically you aren't supposed to aim shotguns, except with slugs. You are supposed to "point" it. The bead is there for when you start out. That's assuming the shotgun fits you, but if we can have magic self-zeroing scopes then why not? People also get desperate, I'd rather a pipe shotgun than a improvised bow. More likely to find ammo than the gun it's for the last time I played. Of course you can't aim, but you can guess. It'd be extremely close range, last resort weapon. For balance sake I'd give it about the damage of the MP133 but with no cross hairs at all. No ability to aim other than a mild guess, and the possibility for explosion on the high side. Because it's actually realistic.
