New player looking for co-op play or small group...
DemoCar82 posted a topic in Clan / Group Recruitment
Hey guys, new to the Dayz Mod, have followed the game for quite some time, but recently built a new gaming rig and got the mod going. Have play several games tactically with friends on consoles... Battlefield Bad Company 2, Battlefield 3, etc... I am a serious player without getting ridiculous. Looking for co-op with another player or a small group, 3-4 players. Info about me, 30 years old, U.S on EST... can typically play any night EST from about 9PM and later. I do have a mic, I have Skype and Teamspeak, and will use them. I don't care what your age(s) is, as long as you are mature and want to play the game for what it is intended. I do not plan on killing other survivors, would rather take on a hero/helping play style. Hit me up on here or in a message and we will go from there. -
Looks awesome, thanks Rocket!

Looking for DayZ players to start a group.

Well guys, watch your ass... Not sure about Neekoh, but the f*cker Coltception (on Skype) stole my damn CD-Key... Great way to get people into the game and help... steal their key... asshole. -
First thing I will mention is that there is no such thing as a "bulletproof" vest... however there are ballistic vests and/or plate carrier chest rigs. Vests should not make the wearer bulletproof. If you take a round I think it should stagger you if a pistol round or knock you down (like a zed knocks you down) if a rifle round... up to say, 7.62 X 51 (.308)... larger caliber rifle rounds, the vest does not matter and you still take damage. Another fairly simple way to limit the effectiveness of such a vest is to make the plates (1 front, 1 back, both the same for simplicity's sake) a separate piece that takes damage and be replaced or possibly repaired. The vests themselves could be sort of common, but the plates fairly rare. Chest rigs could be used to carry more objects on your torso section, but without the plates would not give any other benefit other than that. Just a thought, could be useful if implemented right. Vests could be found in a police station, prison, my house ;) etc. Any thoughts or opinions?

Ballistic vest/chest rig idea for standalone.

Well I am hoping for a little different damage system in the standalone vs the mod. Rocket obviously has talked about some changes already so who knows what we might actually see when it comes out. If they make taking the shot to the chest more deadly, one shot kills to vital areas of the body, and bleed out and broken bones to limb shots and such, the damage system would be more accurate (more fun IMO), and having a vest WITH the rare plate(s) more valuable, while throwing another twist into into gameplay. -

TacticalN29, you are exactly right... in real life, if shit hits the fan, IMO you want a carrier vest. My personal rig has dual flashlight/knife/multi-tool pouches, a medical/emergency pouch, an 8" X 8" utility/ammo pouch, and a 6, 30 roound magazine pouch... without plates it is about 30 lbs give or take. My plates are roughly 7.5 lbs each... I can truck in this thing all day. Also, Applejaxc brought up a fantastic point that I had forgot to mention. If you don't want to run around with the thing, or say you can only have a plate carrier vest OR a backpack, but not both... put it in your car, and say going into town you might get into a tangle, put the backpack in the car for the time being and throw the vest on. I mean come on guys... post-apocolyptic zombie world doesn't need to leave us with only what we have... if we are smart enough to successfully utilize several types of equipment/gear. This may seem a little overkill or too complicated for some, but I know in real life... You'd see me with a hell of a lot more going on than just a big backpack, some beans, bandages, and a gun... And I think it would be cool to incorporate that style into the game. To each their own... -

I think the addition of vests/plates would be nice but make them rare and damageable... prisons, police stations, maybe a very select handful of houses in the entire map... the guy who finds them would have a real treasure if he found the plates, if not, he has a standard tactical vest that could carry a couple more things. Simple and easy. -

Hence the reason to make chest rigs/vests one thing and the plates another... and make the plates pretty rare and able to be damaged or destroyed per say. -
The more detailed and realistic the better IMO.

My real MOLLE vest weighs in at about 60lbs with everything in it, that is a med bag, flashlight holders, 6 loaded AK mags, an aux. ammo pouch on back, and plates. Chest rigs are made to carry the weight on the person fairly evenly, I'm not a huge guy or anything, I do play paintball with similar gear and it isn't as bad as you'd think in real life to be honest... You get a little more tired, a little faster, but that is a given, and I am sure that point could also be incorporated into the game if need be. -

There is also AR500 plate steel, which is not as common, but is ballistic plate. And, yes I would assume they will use some type of vests in the game. -

Yeah, I believe there are 4+ levels of ballistics protection, on top of several types of material. I had just figured one basic style for simplicity, but who knows. -
DayZ Alpha won't launch until launched !

Awesome, I had seen where it had been talked about, but that will be awesome... makes sense to me though, they should get a better honest opinion across the board from people playing the game umpteen number of ways... Should give a better idea of what to do in the Beta and finally the finished game itself. -

I just remember Rocket saying they weren't sure if Alpha would just be released to a select group, or to the populace... either way, I am good with it... but I would love to give it a run! ;) -
Thanks ittzisamx, I spent about a week doing research on what would run DayZ very well without totally breaking the bank... Obviously you can always spend more, but I think this rig, being built myself, pound for pound should do pretty well.

Building a new rig when the parts get here... putting everything together myself, hopefully this thing will run it... Here we go... Not sure on what screen resolution I will run, 1080 or better likely. Case - Rosewill Challenger ATX Case, 1-140mm fan, 4-120mm fans GPU - MSI GTX 660 2GB DDR5 PCIe 3.0 CPU - Intel i5-3570K 3.4GHz 1155 Motherboard ASRock Z77 Extreme4 CrossfireX HD - WD 1TB 7200rpm SATA6 64B Cache Memory - Kingston HyperX 8GB (2X4) 1600MHZ DDR3 PC3-12800 OS - Windows 7 Pro 64-bit Among some other niceties... Will be running via HDMI to my wide screen HD TV. Should get interesting. :D

Been following DayZ Mod and the upcoming Standalone for quite some time, reading forums, Youtube vids, etc. Well, I finally decided to sign in and pipe in. I'll throw my 2 cents in on this... Dean and Bohemia, awesome job... I have not played the mod, and will not play the mod, although have read and watched about everything there is to do with it. You guys are doing the right thing by pushing the date back, I am super excited to play the DayZ Standalone... So excited that I just ordered the parts to put together about a $1500 or so gaming rig, after being out of the PC scene and mainly just console gaming for about 8+ years. In this day in age, with most companies hurrying to meet deadlines and releasing garbage, people should be happy that Bohemia is striving for better, especially on such a large scale game. Skyrim pissed me off to no end because of the amount of crap wrong with it upon release... Anyone who says interest in the game is being lost because of the date push back... get real! I am dropping serious coin and specifically building a rig to run DayZ. Give these guys a break, it is a huge undertaking to deliver a game that the vast majority want to play, unless you've been in that seat, you wouldn't know. And I totally respect them for pushing it back to make sure the game is awesome when released... I mean, I am chomping at the bit waiting for the Alpha to come out (even if I don't get to run it) just for the fact we'll know progress is being made, and may get a few tid bits of info/video from it. From watching hours of interviews with Rocket and about every standalone "leak" and E3 video there is, I am confident these guys are going to develop the game that I have been honestly waiting for... well... forever, and I believe it will only get better from there with their "streaming" update concept. I am fricken pumped. The new ideas for weaponry, loot searching, buildings, working together, trading, etc. will make the game really something unique... and what I look for is replayability, and this I am sure will be. I can also vouch that the more real, with food, medicine, illnesses, crafting, etc., that they make this, makes me want to play it even more. It takes an intelligent person to play an in depth strategy game and think about more shit that just run and gun... If some people want that, go play Battlefield 3 or COD or some other similar game (And yes, I play BF games). I, for one, hope the need to trade and generally interact with others is huge and hope it puts a real crimp on the apparent kill on sight mentality... obviously I am sure we'll see banditry and loners, but the increase for friendly, or at least neutral interaction is very welcomed... more like real life situation in the given scenario. Without anymore senseless rambling, I can't wait to see this all unfold.
