I'm surprised that the first statement wasn't "I know this is early alpha BUT" ... thats usually how the pointless rants about things that will surely be improved start.

And yet there are a few games out there that you kill babies so what are ya gonna do ...

Crossfire performance issues and suggestions
SaveMeJebus replied to Absaolut1l's topic in Troubleshooting
Your gpus are only reaching 60% load because the cpu can't pass enough information through to feed them half the time, as DayZ is very heavy on the cpu. Alot of settings when set to low actually offload to the cpu instead of the gpu and cause the bottleneck to be even worse. If you can't shut it off completely set it to normal or high and then mess with your object count until you see your gpu load actually start to go up. This is true for arma 3 as well, you can sit at the settings screen and mess with object count and once you raise it to a certian point the gpu load actually starts to drop instead of raise as your cpu is no longer able to keep up passing info to the cards. As for your crossfire specific issues (if there are any) I can't help you there I have nvidia sli. -
I am super serial you guys ........

Do people just start these threads anymore to buff their epeen about the new rig they just got? There are a few of these posts a day and OP even states that he knows its unoptimized ...... and then bitches about framerates

Settings that are set lower than at least medium will often offload to the cpu which is already working super hard with this game. If you can't turn it off completely set it to med or high and see if that affects you any. Most all peoples rig will be cpu bound with this game so pay no attention to you friend about the gpu. I upgraded to SLI 760s a little while ago and noticed a huge fps gain in the wilderness but the same ugliness of 25ish frames in the large cities as the cpu inevitably bottlenecked. If you sit and fiddle with settings you can actually find the point where object count binds the cpu and your gpu load will actually start to drop as you turn up the count ... same thing in arma 3 BUT it has been semi optimized so you can get it to a tolerable level. One can hold out hope for good performance eventually tho, Cherno+ map runs like a champ if you load it up in the arma 3 editor :) **I dont have the fastest cpu on the market (i5-3570k OC'd to 4.6) But there aren't many games that bring my cpu to its knees and this is the main one lol

How does being able to predict where your crosshairs will path NOT help you with shooting? Should have read "Its interesting, but doesn't really help ME with shooting :/"

Objects and their impact on everything - effects detached from us players
SaveMeJebus replied to joe_mcentire's topic in General Discussion
Yes but you would be surprised how large their ranks are ... especially around games in this genre it would seem. -
No he meant CPU .. arma and dayz are very cpu intensive games. That being said more I'm pretty sure Dayz is still relying pretty heavily on single core performance (hopefully some multi-thread optimizations are in the future)

On board laptop mouse or add on usb mouse?

hypothermia isn't really a disease in the sense that you would need antibiotics or meds to cure it, more of a condition or state that your body goes into once your body temp drops below a certain point. That being said it sounds like a bug for sure, especially not having wet clothes.

When will we see this game shift more towards survival?
SaveMeJebus replied to kumando's topic in General Discussion
I kinda thought they were about there after making all the craftable from nature stuff. Sandbox games are what you make of them my friend, imo its not a bad survival game right now if you play it that way. -
Introduce Easy Mode with no health regen issues and never lose loot from death

Carry animation? Well who needs that after ya turn em into steaks :) Just need a blade!

The most inept bandits ever? They try to lure me into a false sense of security.

lmfao oh wow I can't believe he did that to his friend! Haven't laughed that hard at a video in a while thank you. -
Have good graphics card.. not getting good fps
SaveMeJebus replied to joshhhh0's topic in Troubleshooting
Setting graphics settings to low can often just offload them to cpu instead of gpu and aggravate fps problems even more. Anything that you can't turn off completely set to at least normal setting to make sure it isn't offloaded to cpu. I'm not going to get into the cpu debate but http://www.cpu-world.com/Compare/499/Intel_Core_i5_i5-3570K_vs_Intel_Core_i5_i5-4440.html will very clearly show how little performance difference there is from a 3570k and a 4440 although it doesn't mention the potential for overclocking at all. This all however is a moot point if OP is expecting to improve something enough that the game will run at a steady 60 fps all the time, never was it mentioned what his current framerates even are. perhaps expectations are too high. -
That looked about legit as I could think it would honestly ... otherwise had very good actors .. the savior does an excellent job of "acting" as if he saved you but doesn't trust you as his weapon stays your direction and he backs out the door and closes it. Epic vid tho was definitely a great for the vaults.

Really? Is this for everyone? I used the hell out of my compass and didn't have any reason to believe it had led me astray.
-
Plausibility fine, I get that but don't tell me that cost should determine anything if its a round that would be common in local military and would be plentiful. I'm not arguing any specific round here, I am very unfamiliar with that area of the world aside from what DayZ has taught me and have no idea what would be plentiful there. Just saying cost should be 0 factor, money means nothing after an apocalyptic event right?
-
Really? This is going to degrade into bullet cost determining if its a viable option for loot now?
-
With persistence on there shouldn't be new loot respawning with a server restart, thats the point .. And I have looked, after a server restart the same loot is there after as was there before as it should be. Items all have a degrade timer, they sit there for so long then they poof and something else can spawn. Like I said, I agree with you things are picked thru in most places and the system (degradation time maybe) definitely needs some tweaking but those that claim the whole system is just "broken" are just angry and ranting.
-
4 gigs of ram will get maxed out pretty quick with this game and will then cause huge fps freezes at times when it loads/unloads textures. I recently upgraded my friends computer to 8 gig after I saw in msi afterburner that his ram usage was almost always maxed out with 4 gig and it cut down the spikes a ton.
-
After about 2 days straight on a persistence enabled server I can tell you that loot most definitely is spawning, it may get picked thru in spots but things seemed to be decaying/respawning as they should (not saying the time values for decay don't need tweaking but ...) People seem to get pissed they can't get decked out in full military gear after they hop the barracks 10 times and say the system is completely broken. I didnt get decked out with gear by any means but by the time I hit vybor I had a hunter pack, hunter pants, police jacket, a mosin, 2 clips and enough food to last me a couple days so don't say loot isn't spawning at all.

shotgun slugs, different barrels, and different gauges
SaveMeJebus replied to d.walker43's topic in Suggestions
Ah ok .. thought you were coming from a different angle, I can agree with ya for sure. Is why I said I had issue with the childs gun term. As a person who was shot in the eye with a bb gun at quite a young age by my cousin Im a big advocate on gun safety lol Ahhhh the things our parents gave us as "toys" back in the day :) -
shotgun slugs, different barrels, and different gauges
SaveMeJebus replied to d.walker43's topic in Suggestions
While I don't really think the term "childs gun" is quite right here (maybe starter shotgun would have been better?) it's really no need to get an attitude with him he is partially correct, I personally started with a 4/10 bird hunting when I was 9 and it is a very common gauge for hunters to teach their children with. Just because you may look down on this kind of thing doesn't mean you should come berate others over it.
