You need to run the game one time after install so that it will generate the config files ( I realize it won't start all the way but doesn't need to) and then open up the dayz.cfg in your documents folder to manually change the resolution and then save it. It sounds like the game is trying to start up in a resolution your computer doesn't like possibly, so hopefully after you make this change you should be able to get to the menu.

Exactly what I was thinking :( ... I think the simple fact that you got dayz to run on this machine may mean its as optimized as it's going to get (and don't take this as me insulting your computer pls)

You seem to still be tied to vehicle controls as you do the exit animation so if you do any forward input to run before the animation is complete you WILL run yourself over lol.

With all the texture loading/popins having an SSD most definitely makes a difference in the smoothness of play (there are much less hitches where it will freeze for a second or 2) but yes SSD doesn't improve your framerate numbers. Setting many of the graphic settings to low will only offload them to the CPU which is most often the bottleneck anyways. If you can't turn the setting off completely than set it to high so it will dump more on the GPU and see what kind of fps it produces.

When you say your friend has a similar system he doesn't have intel/nvidia gear instead of AMD does he? Nothing against AMD here at all just seems this game runs better on intel/nvidia setups at the moment.

Maybe if there was (or maybe there is correct me pls) an in between damage state (ie. sprained ankle) that could randomly hit you from jumping down distances such as this? Instead of just flat out breaking your leg. I am with Max tho lol 2 years ago I recall jumping down no farther than a meter and pinching a nerve in my back putting me down for a day or 2, and this is being active every day and in decent shape.

Yeah fall damage is inconsistant and just plain wrong at the moment but I'm hopeful it will be adjusted soon (not sure why it hasn't yet) Jumped off one of the apartment complexes the other day and took no damage at all.

Funny that such a criticism also contains nothing but terrible advice and misinformation. You may not notice much difference AT FIRST but after dayz runs for 15-20 minutes and Ram gets full and it starts the pagefile swap business you will definitely notice it (and it will use every bit of 4 gig, I speak from experience that the upgrade helps) Perhaps you should reread it, you would have realized he meant that the upgrade can do nothing but good. Every system is different so not like he could tell him ... hrmmm yes this will increase your performance by 30%

If you are in the northern hemisphere the sun is always in the southern sky, and also rises in the east so rising in the SE would be perfectly normal. But in regards to the compass(pristine) every single one I have picked up has been jacked so I quit relying on them.

This isn't a fps problem, something is happening with your network. Be it your modem or router (or possible the ISP itself) but SOMETHING has to be wrong with your internet connection stability it sounds like. If you have an aftermarket cpu cooler i'd recommend doing some overclocking as well (that chipset OCs very nicely and will hit 4.3 as a minimum with ease, had my old one at 4.6) that will help your framerates for sure. I know your hardware is capable of a playable game though, a friend of mine has my old 2500k (oc'd to 4.3) and a 560ti that he plays on.

Lol this is true ^^ ... but in all reality it is nothing more than a HUGE waste of time for these people who try and make loot maps. At this moment the game is in a constant state of change and will be for quite a while to come, best to just explore yourself from patch to patch and you will begin to see patterns yourself.

No I mean enough for 2 or 3 people, and if your running with a small group of 2 or 3 there is more than ample backpack space for any supplies that would be necessary (even for setting up a camp). Don't get me wrong I don't mind seeing people pop like a pinata when I shoot them just think it's unnecessary. Just saying a group of 3 with 2 people in ghillies and the other carrying supplies can survive easily, I don't think it needs exaggerated even further. **I wasn't trying to disparage your idea in the least, I think it would be funny as hell seeing someone pulling a little red wagon was just stating concerns

You can already carry sooooo much gear, I see no reason something like this would be necessary at all.

Reason #1 that I'm just taking a break from this game right now ... hopefully things will get better in the near future but this kinda shit if far to common at the moment. Very nice handling of the situation don't think you could have done a thing different to come out better but sadly im sure he just zipped his stupid ass right back to all that gear (altho I hope you ruined most of it) :D

This is another one of those things that I can't help feeling would have just been better to steal from Arma 3. Arma 3's inventory system is where dayz needs to be eventually imo, wish they would have stole the inventory system when they stole the clouds :P
