Experimental Branch: 0.54 Discussion
SaveMeJebus replied to SmashT's topic in PC Experimental Updates
I'm glad they DON'T run rampant with claims like in that tweet .. no that -maxmem launch parameter doesn't stop the crashing for all of us, maybe for that guy it did but why do people just assume they found a fix for everyone? -
See these kind of reports of events are actually helpful and do alot more good than people straight up raging because "Dey broke muh videa game!!!!" I am not fanboying at all and saying stuff isn't broken, but OF COURSE IT IS and they definitely need (coherent) reports of this ..... The game is being developed still, and just because some seem to think this isn't an excuse they can't simply ignore the fact that ITS STILL BEING DEVELOPED ** Did I mention Alpha?
-
With all your valuable insight maybe you can take over the dev team and lead them to victory?! My point is you have no fuckin clue WHAT they are testing so just stfu and play it ...
-
I do agree, I wish there was enough transparency in the dev process so that we could actually see what is being tested when and what variables are exaggerated at the moment. Sometimes these behind the scenes things can make gameplay VERY frustrating. At the same time though the last thing I want to do is slow these guys down further :) It seems as they bit off a little more than they could chew in the beginning and have been playing catchup the entire time BUT the work they do keep churning out has been great so far and keeps me dreaming of what the game will be when finished and it really does seem like they are getting their poop in a group (starting too >.< gotta expect a trip every so often tho).
-
Variables are changing constantly for various testing purposes at this point and not necessarily for gameplay purposes, bitching about them is pointless. REMEMBER you are indeed testing this game not playing it right now, you never know what systems they are checking atm. **We don't all expect better .... some of us understand.

Painfully low building quality/no interior
SaveMeJebus replied to Heatofbattle's topic in General Discussion
Launch parameters have been causing problems apparently, something was said specifically about memory related ones in the dev post about .54 issues. I'd say remove any you are using and try again. -
Ballistic helmets are too effective
SaveMeJebus replied to infiltrator's topic in General Discussion
You never know when the devs have done something such as exaggerate bullet damage to test item damage systems (or whatever, the list could go on) Point being, at this time in development bitching about variables is pointless. -
Dayz (disk write error) How do you fix it?
SaveMeJebus replied to klinner9090's topic in Troubleshooting
Are you running steam as an admin? Sometimes this needs done for some of the first time install stuff to go through. -
I have generally used a stiff bristle paint brush and air to knock the gunk loose and then blow it out in the past, but I also have a larger tower :) that can be pretty tough in one that is cramped and not sure what you are working with for space.
-
Definitely not going to happen when you provide absolutely no system specs to work with ... don't understand how people expect help when they only info they give you is "its broke"
-
I am pretty sure zombie agro mechanics are up for adjusting here very soon to make stealth gameplay viable.
-
Lmao .. I wouldn't bother even coming back in 3 months just uninstall forever, you just described 2 things that will ALWAYS be happening in dayz.
-
He has an nvidia 610m
-
You need to run the game one time after install so that it will generate the config files ( I realize it won't start all the way but doesn't need to) and then open up the dayz.cfg in your documents folder to manually change the resolution and then save it. It sounds like the game is trying to start up in a resolution your computer doesn't like possibly, so hopefully after you make this change you should be able to get to the menu.
-
Exactly what I was thinking :( ... I think the simple fact that you got dayz to run on this machine may mean its as optimized as it's going to get (and don't take this as me insulting your computer pls)
-
You seem to still be tied to vehicle controls as you do the exit animation so if you do any forward input to run before the animation is complete you WILL run yourself over lol.

Uniquely Bad DayZ framerate performance?
SaveMeJebus replied to dave_e_crockett's topic in Troubleshooting
With all the texture loading/popins having an SSD most definitely makes a difference in the smoothness of play (there are much less hitches where it will freeze for a second or 2) but yes SSD doesn't improve your framerate numbers. Setting many of the graphic settings to low will only offload them to the CPU which is most often the bottleneck anyways. If you can't turn the setting off completely than set it to high so it will dump more on the GPU and see what kind of fps it produces. -
When you say your friend has a similar system he doesn't have intel/nvidia gear instead of AMD does he? Nothing against AMD here at all just seems this game runs better on intel/nvidia setups at the moment.
-
Awww cmon guy nobody wants challenging, that's why everybody plays on 3rd person servers :D /ducks

Falling onto a vest full of hooks sounds like an awesome weekend.
-
Yes but this is a fall not a deliberate jump off of something, these are 2 very different things.

Meat. what does it say when its get cooked.
SaveMeJebus replied to Survivor1965's topic in New Player Discussion
Actually you came in after the question had already been answered with that video only to add your snide comment BUT ... I do think survivors post sounded a little over agressive but I think that was due to english not being his native language. -
Maybe if there was (or maybe there is correct me pls) an in between damage state (ie. sprained ankle) that could randomly hit you from jumping down distances such as this? Instead of just flat out breaking your leg. I am with Max tho lol 2 years ago I recall jumping down no farther than a meter and pinching a nerve in my back putting me down for a day or 2, and this is being active every day and in decent shape.
-
Yeah fall damage is inconsistant and just plain wrong at the moment but I'm hopeful it will be adjusted soon (not sure why it hasn't yet) Jumped off one of the apartment complexes the other day and took no damage at all.

Funny that such a criticism also contains nothing but terrible advice and misinformation. You may not notice much difference AT FIRST but after dayz runs for 15-20 minutes and Ram gets full and it starts the pagefile swap business you will definitely notice it (and it will use every bit of 4 gig, I speak from experience that the upgrade helps) Perhaps you should reread it, you would have realized he meant that the upgrade can do nothing but good. Every system is different so not like he could tell him ... hrmmm yes this will increase your performance by 30%
