Click the install/update tab and it will tell you if your dayz version and/or mod versions are up to date and ready to play. P.S. in case you didnt know there are TONS of diff dayz mods, I would stick with the plain jane version until you get a feel for it -
And if you DO have trouble installing first thing you do is IGNORE the simpleton that tells you to delete your steam files and then redownload with dayz commander ...... Dayz Commander is a great program that will help you find servers easily, and keep your game and mods up to date but I dunno why everyone thinks its necessary to delete everything (sorry have seen this advice given so many times it makes me sick, kinda like the fool that says to format every time theres a windows error)

Keep/Replace the zombies "zig zag" movements

Zombies are supposed to be mindless, instinct driven husks .... not spazoid superhumans that jump all over the damn place and run 10x faster than you. The way to bump up difficulty is NOT to make the zeds dodge bullets that is just stupid (I realize with mod its an engine limitation) Zombie are really only dangerous in large groups, so sneak around and kill the few that are in your way QUIETLY or end up with a hoarde on your ass because your making too much noise, this is the way it should be made to be more difficult. -

No offense intended, honest question to DemonGroover. Are you happy with the current state of the KoS mindset? Not that I have anything against banditry at all, its fun ... but there are just far to many people with the CoD mentality of "Oh I'll just respawn" and just set out to troll people. I personally hope something (not this namely but something, altho I like this idea alot) is done to reward those that have survived longer. I do agree with you tho, time survived would be only way to go I dont think there should be any kind of xp grind and am definitely totally against anything that would carry thru a death. -

Any game that can equate into $$$ turns into a huge hackfest fast because theres so much incentive.

Personally I think something like this could easily get out of hand as a perk system but I love the idea of small "vet" perks for those that manage to stay alive. Younger characters wouldn't have these perks yet and would have much less to lose in a confrontation, and the vet perks that the older character had would prompt less reason to risk death fighting as well as a slight advantage over the young yolo player running at them. Obviously all these "vet" perks would have to be of a defensive nature for best results as to not really reward the KoS player with more tools for murder. While I love as much realism as possible in game, I hope people keep an open mind about ideas like this, they need to at very least be explored as they could create a huge immersion factor if done correctly. -

Oh come on about the realism ... nothing can be 100% real it would be no fun. And funny thing is most all the people who bitch about things being too "arcadey" would be the first to scream bloody murder if you took away their third person view (so realistic to be able to look over your own shoulder eh?) I do like the "instinct" idea tho, you should gain SOMETHING for living longer (like the peripheral dots that used to be in game, little stuff like that) and I'm not sure why you would say KoS people would benefit the most/have longer lifespans they are the ones that get into the most firefights .... -
I'd say for the most part Arma 3 is about as close to "current" military hardward that there is. I'm not saying every enlisted man out on the battlefield is decked out with the kinda stuff you see but most all of it IS out there even if only in testing phases atm.

Hunkered down with a buddy in a densely wooded area with a huey hovering overhead. I aimed up at the chin glass of the huey with my m4 holo and thought "hmmm wonder if I can nail the pilot thru that". My single shot was shortly followed with me yelling "move move move move!" as the now pilotless huey plowed straight down onto my buddys head. Ooops sooorry -

This +1 lol I had a cheapo do the same and shoot fire out the back, took the mobo with it as well. Also be sure you get the correct form factor PSU to fit your case (atx/mini atx/ etc)

Id almost lean towards a temp issue as well :( not sure if its a coincidence the only game that will work for you is probably the least demanding one you have. -

For most all calibers of weapons there a supersonic and subsonic rounds, the subsonic do not produce any kind of sonic boom and are therefore quieter so used with suppressors BUT also have much less range due to subsonic speeds. So I do agree with you partly but there is kinda SD and non SD ammo for most all weapons. All same caliber ammo should be usable in any weapon BUT SD rounds in a non SD weapon should = less dmg/range and of course if you put non-SD rounds in an SD weapon it will only be slightly quieter. -

Does only arma 2 cause this crashing? or are you able to run other games just fine? Your vid card may be toasted if any game you try to run causes this but hard to tell. -

This is the main reason the devs are so hesitant to show the masses what they are working on. Even tho it was stated many times by rocket in the video that the variables still need adjusted and that he was just displaying how the system they have been working on will function, we still end up with posts like this. Maybe OP watched the dev blog with the sound off? -

Ok not to nitpick but this looks like an over/under shotgun mixed with a rifle. Either that or its a single shot rifle, which would suck (break-open) -
How in gods name are you getting bad framerates with that kind of rig? I only have an i5-2500k and a gtx560ti and get more than adequate framerates (on both arma 2 AND 3, in fact 3 runs better for me).... or are you bitching because you don't have 120 fps?

Nothing is "unplayable" at 80 - 90 ping ... you should be fine. I'm sure one of the things that is taking so long is making sure this isn't a problem.

What do you mean lately? Was your FPS better before? If not I'd assume your cpu is bottlenecking your system unless I looked up the wrong specs for it. Arma2 is a pretty CPU heavy game and the clock speed on the CPU you have is only like 2.6(?). I know the one thing I did that helped the most was to use the -winxp startup parameter and make my system force directX 9, this game taxes my CPU and its a 3.5ghz clock speed quad core.

Have you checked any of the other "get more fps" threads? Just using the -winxp command line parameter that forces direct x 9 makes a huge improvement.

Does killing zombies give humanity?

This is the main problem with this really. People that actually want to be bandits are going to have to kill zombies at some point and I'm sure they won't want that adding humanity and fighting them the whole way. Although the amount of humanity lost for killing a hero/survivor would easily outweigh the minor + you would get from killing zombies so it really could be doable just a matter of balance. -
At any given time ANY of the servers could be a high pop or low pop and then 10 minutes later be the opposite .... I'm not sure how your idea would work even after your expanation and I really don't see much issue with the current system of having the publicly accessible servers on 1 hive and each of the private servers gets its own.

I miss my Fragnstein now : / left half of a console controller w/ analong stick and a mouse, it was the perfect combination. *** Still no way you could play DayZ on one of them tho, to many key combinations
