My lady survives her first NW airfield snipe
LIMITID replied to Hetstaine's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I wish my GF would play Dayz but zombies creep her out. If she comes into the computer room while I am playing I even have to turn the sound off. I tried to explain to her that they are not zombies, just infected humans like in 28 days later, but it made not differance:( -
Wait you can beat DayZ by having good gear? Dam I have been doing it wrong, no wonder why I have not got the credits to roll yet:(

DayZ should become a stand alone game using a different engine.
LIMITID replied to Harris (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
So because YOU had not heard of ARMA that must mean NOONE has? What a retard. Probably a console gamer. -
DayZ should become a stand alone game using a different engine.
LIMITID replied to Harris (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
LOL at the people suggesting the Cryengine or Unreal engine. The stand alone DAYZ game is aiming to be bigger then the current game (as far as I know) and have far far more enterable buildings. The Cryengine can do large environmonts, but not the size ARMA 2, or 3's engine can. And the UNREAL engine would not support such large maps either, MMO's are one thing, they are divided into zones (sometimes by load screan, often times by bottle neck entrances) and they also lack the dense vegitation of ARMA 2. That would also likly be an issue with the CRY engine, massive maps with dense vegataion spread over many KM's with no laid screens and massive view distances. Add in town/cities with enterable buildings and I don't think they Cryengine could deal with it. Also ARMA comes with the realistic mil sim mechanics and weapons/vehicles. If they did not use ARMA all that content would have to be created. I was not overly impresed by ARMA 2's engine at first though I admired the size of the game world, but after playing Dayz for a few months now I have come to appreciate the beuty of the game world and the real life weather and day/night cycles, as well as just how vast a game world it really is. My hope is the stand-alone Dayz will use the ARMA 3 engine, and besides I think ARMA is deserving of a bit of love. -
Yea I am getting this to. I played fine earler has a 2 hour break came back and it is very choppy. It is not just the menu either, I got into DAYZ and the frame rate was very very bad. Not sure why this suddenly happend, I mean I have been playing fine for over two months now. Guess I will just try again later.

Its a sandbox game. It does not hold your hand and your only objective is to survive. You either get it or you don't.

[UPDATED] Weekly Stats, PvP Trends
LIMITID replied to ZedsDeadBaby's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Interesting though not unexpected. Alos of the perception of PVP playing a huge part in the game comes from people rushing to the forums to rage and scream about how they where killed by another player. Also, after playing the mod for over two months now, I am yet to see these mythcal bandits who camp the coastlines and cities waiting for noobs. Less then a quarter of my deaths have been due to PVP, and I have spent a fair amount of time in the cities, most people who see you just try to avoid you. -
Tents are full of love and kindness they don't hate you:) Anyway keep your inventory open and spam "place tent" over and over and you should get it to set down... evetually.

After five days of playing this, I have determined that DayZ is a marathon simulator.
LIMITID replied to wildstars's topic in New Player Discussion
Some people love sandbox games, others lack the imagination or ability to play them. You are likly part of the latter group. YOu don't need a gun at the start, the game, it really is not that hard to find a weopon. If they cut all the running down they would have to make the world smaller or provide everyone with a vehicle. Both would ruin the experiance and likly create an even more deathmatch like game then it already is. Clearly, as I said a sandbox game is not for you, or you like kid friendly sandbox games like Skyrim or GTA. -
People can, and will find your bike and steal it. So that is nother reason why is disapeared. Also make sure you log back into the same server as your bike because it does not save cross server.

At OP, So basically you mad that a mod you like is not as popular as Dayz and so you feel the need to try to claim that Dayz is bad and "copied" elements from other mods/games (as if all games don't do that) to make yourself feel better? LOL. Over 500k people are playign DayZ, that tells us (and YOU) that alot of people like the game, so regardless to your personal opinion of a alpha state mod that is exploding in popularity, it will be crushed by the shear number of people who don't share your opinion and enjoy the game. Most likly your just bad at the game and came here to troll/hate on it to make yourself feel better. The game is a work in progress, if you can't wait for more stuff to be added to the game then GTFO imo. You did not buy DayZ and noone cares if you leave.

This video sums up why the zombies in Dayz are NOT fun in their current state.
LIMITID replied to jenson's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
But the game is to easy as is. Just avoid them and you wont be having problems with it. I am not saying that they should not be fixed, but if anything they need to be made harder. -
Take some calsium tablets for strong teeth and bones.
-
sigh... This post again. A resounding NO for me. The game is alreay easy.

The zombies need to be more dangerous.
LIMITID replied to switch296's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I love the people complaining about how hard zombies are and that it is not realistic that they can see you crouch walked from 30m away or something... As is in real life you can't see someone crouching down 30m's away or even prone. The game is not hard. The zombies are not hard and the PVP is normally over pretty quickly so again I don't see it as being hard, it's more of who got the jump on who and who is the better shot. Surviving is not hard, it's more just luck of the draw on what you find (food/water/ammo etc), and having patiance and keeping your eye out for danger. I honestly feel sorry for people who think this game is hard. Sure it is not a faceroll easy game, but as I said if you have patiance and watch out for stuff you can be just as good as anyone else. Also I dont have time to play overly much, I am lucky if I get more then 1 hour in a day to play. I have died and had to start over with no weopon. All I did was Gtfo the coast, had patiance with zombies, proned to enterable building got some stuff and went from there. It is just as easy as it ever was. If you get seen by a zombie run and LOS it when possible. I am a casual player and did not need 100s of hours to work that out. -
It is funny, sometimes when I respawn I find plenty of food/water but no big backpack to carry it all:( Other times I find no food but plenty of drink or vise versa... Sometimes I find nothing but cans and bottles:( Guess it is all just random and sometimes things swing your way and other they don't.

DayZ experiencing expontential growth?
LIMITID replied to fml's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yea I am loving the fact that it is doing so well, except for the lack of servers lol. No other game lets you make choices like Dayz. Low on food and water as well as blood, do you risk trying to sneak into that small town full of zeds and look for food/water or do you pass it by and hope you find a barn or something. The semi-realistic survival and perma death thing really make this game. -
Wait to you get decent gear and NVG then see how tense things can get in a shootout or entering a city. YOu spent 8 hrs geting all you equitment and you can loose it all at any moment and not even know who shot you:P

Anyone know where the class trainers are? And where is the Elctro flight path?
-
Play the ARMA 2 tutorial or even the ARMA 2 game it covers much of the basics. The rest in not that hard to learn tbh. If your here on the forums it I hope means you are not one of those mindless people who join a game then spend the first few hour spamming "how do I move" "how do I turn on my flashlight" etc. Read/watch the guides and then play. That is all you need.
-
Well being that I am from perth I have trouble geting on any Australian servers when I get home from work as they are eastern state servers. If I ever manage to get on an Australian server I might sign up for your clan:) Games kinda lonely and tense playing solo.

Yes, yes I do. I'm just throwing thoughts out, there's too much killing. Just today I spawned inside of a building in Elekro where I left off, with only an axe. 2 others were in the store, seen me, harmless, in the corner, holding just an axe, and instantly killed me with a shotgun, no communication or hesitation. It's the norm now. In another life today I had a makarov and I was in a town, I entered a house and seen another guy who was unarmed, he instantly fled, I told him I was friendly and eventually persuaded him I was, and I escorted him out of the town and to safety. His first response though was just to run away, no attempt to communicate, this is just a PvP game now that happens to have zombies, there's no humanity, which should be something unique to DayZ. And I'm sure if he had a gun he'd have killed me. Yesterday I came across 2 guys, one with a Lee Enfield, one with just an axe, the Lee Enfield guy ran off before I got there and I met the axe guy, said hi and escorted him around for a little since I had an MP5, then the Lee Enfield guy came back, and just as I greeted him, he blew my head off. To have any sort of extended life, I'm going to have to be bandit scum, and just murder everyone I see, which isn't what I want to do. But nothing in the game is giving incentive for anyone to actually show humanity and help others. The removal of the bandit skin and global chat made things considerably worse. Why do you need to murder people? I have played this mod for a little over a month and have never killed anyone. If I see someone I run and hide (if they have seen me) or if I see them I just avoid them. I would shoot in self defense, but most of the time I am up north and have only been fired at a few times so I don't have much to do woth other players.
-
Also read road sighns then look at the map and try to work out where you are. Also there are guides on the Dayz wiki on how to find out what way north is at night/day. If you are really lost try to stick to a road as these normally lead somewhere.

Placed Tent on server - today no server?
LIMITID replied to 191812's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I did that on a Perth australia server that was up for a few weeks. FOr the last two weeks or so it has not been up so I assume it's not coming back:(
