  1. I never thought, that there were so deep roots involved in the making of Day Z. Can't put it any other way: This is amazing. I'm just sitting here... amazed (What, you thought I was gonna say something else? You dirty minded individual, you...).
  2. Can't wait to try it out. All the new features sound great, but I hadn't had any time to play recently. Hope it will be great:)

    DON'T TRUST FRIENDLY PEOPLE.

My "favorite" part is, when I am trying to be friendly, hand out some food or whatnot and get shot. Then I ask "WHY?" Reply: "I did not trust you enough". Yeah, ok, but you could have just left or something. This by holstering my gun, doing the A-D dance and placing the things right on the ground, not even going near their backpack... Now that can be annoying, but that's life in a nutshell.

    Your Base Setup

I never place more then one tent in one place, and even so the tents are divided into categories: I use one for food and supplies, one for ammo and parts and a third for weapons. Why? If someone finds the one with weapons, he will have no ammo, if he finds the one with ammo: no weapon. This works out quite fine, I have been robbed maybe 2-3 times (Someone once took an M24, even with no ammo... just shows how good the gun is), and the tents themselves are hidden quite well. My favorite spot is near Pustoshka, up on a hill between a set of pine trees, or on the north slope of the hill. No one found it yet, one time, someone even put a tent almost next to mine (30-40 m maybe) and did not find my tent even after that! It is also good for other reasons: Supermarket close, Vybor close, NW AF close, Stary not far, cannot be seen between all the trees, only visible from chopper, or if you stumble upon it on the top of the hill. Also a good place is the west forest from Zelenogorsk. But basically all is well, just don't put the tents near straight lines in between points of interests (e.g.: between cities, even if it is a forest).

    What's Your Character's Background?

Different backgrounds for every single run. I was everything from mad hermit to ex-military to benevolent preacher to scared survivor... and so on:)
  9. Also never get cornered, always run. Cut corners, loose the zed by cutting their line of site to you (works really well in cities). When chased by zed, never enter a building that only has one entrance. Hatchets are most commonly found in industrial building, you can't just find them anywhere. And most important: NEVEReverEVEReverNeverEVER use a Lee Enfield in a city.*derp*
  10. Place random markers on the map, like "Secret", "Base" or "BigFoot"!

    DayZ 1.7.7.1 .Dev Bug List

This, and when you are in a barracks, and zeds are after you, they still walk through the doors, instead of walking the hallway (They are not walking in the middle, rather on the right hand side, thus passing through the doors, making a clear shot very hard... you get cornered easily). They often bug in and out of the barracks too (The good thing is, if they bug out, they start at the entrance again...)

If I remember correctly, you can boil water at a fireplace--> you need 1 firewood and matches to make one (Just be careful, zeds and players are attracted, it can be ssen from far away, even during the day). Then select the boil water option.

    New player HERE!

Avoid people most of the times, unless they shout "friendly" first. Avoid the big cities, unless you want a lot of loot. Avoid being a bandit, and kill all bandits. Avoid b*tching in the forum. Avoid zombies. Avoid death. Avoid. Have fun.

    Funny moments?

I think you where the only one... Today a bus full of bandits honked at me three times. They did not stop to kill me or anything just honked. Probably wanted to attract zeds to my location, but the "conga line" only followed the bus. Sooo... jokes on them, I guess :D

    I'm new and need tips

And don't forget: Never ever give up. You will die a lot. But every new game is a roll of the dice. Enjoy^^

    DayZ 1.7.7.1 .Dev Bug List

I think it was already said many times, but I can't stress it enough: Since the new update, I am constantly getting an error 0 from BattleEye when trying to connect to my favorite server. The text says something about SetPos restriction, and I instantly get kicked... This is very irritating, since it takes around 5-6 starts or a server change to run the game. Please if you have time, try and fix this! Thank you and keep up the great work:)
  21. I always used headphones as well, it was diabolical at first, but it sure helps a lot, that the outside noise is not present, and you can just concentrate on the game sound. Then one time I just switched to my laptop speakers (forgot my headphones somewhere if I remember correctly) and I was in Cherno. Now THAT was real paranoia. Every sound sounded different, sometimes I mistook my own breathing for that of a zombies or gunshots (!) fired far away. And the zombie sounds were somehow really loud.

The Basics Of Dayz For New Players

Just so we are on the safe side: Infection is caused by zombies hitting you. There are two type of zombies: 1. "normal" zombies --> low chance of infection 2. Viral Zombies --> high chance of infection (legend says, even airborne when near them, have not confirmed this yet). Viral zombies are easy to spot, because they have huge bloodstains on them. They are hard to kill and must be avoided if possible. Once you get infected, your blood symbol (the little green drop) will get a "tangled" background and a downward pointing arrow appears next to it. You will constantly lose blood (3/sec from a total of 12.000) and if nothing is done you can die from it. To cure the infection you need to find antibiotics (mostly in hospitals, tent, hangars, etc). There is a new change announced, that infection will be curable with sterilizing the wound with alcohol, eating, drinking and resting, please search it up in the forums. Have fun! :)

    Funny moments?

This happened last night: Spawned near Electro (Otmel) looted the outskirts of the city and was on my way east. Was climbing the hill just east of the city, and WHAM someone shot me. Fell down, went unconscious and started bleeding. Then another bullet hit right next to me, missed me maybe by 30 cm-s. I lay there for about 20-30 seconds, got up, bandaged myself and ran into the forest. In sidechat I told the guy "HA! I'm still alive, you didn't kill me!" and while I was busy typing this I saw two other guys jet past me, and one of them was talking on the mic. He was screaming "Oh God he is still alive, we gotta get outa here, he knows where we are, we are gonna die!" Note: I had an AKM, but no bullets :D
