Login with no items in wilderness

This just happened to me. Again. Third time in 2 days. This time I had some seriously good stuff. I even had 2 pairs of NVG's and was just about to put the second pair into my tent. Now it's all gone. Everything. FASFUHGGIAIGFJOIABNPHRh EDIT: I just downloaded 1.7.2.1 and logged in to SE 3 and it continued from where I was 2 sessions ago (so last pre-wilderness-spawn session was completely lost - not that I mind; I got my stuff back!). I'm happy again. But considering this is an unfinished patch, I'll soon be crying inside again when I die from some bug.
  2. I just got this too. I broke my legs under a tree and barely managed to bandage up before this message came up. I was wondering if I was shot by a silenced weapon, but when I got this messaged I considered the possibility of a hacker who got mad I was looting his camp or something (found some tents, hence the bones breaking).

No there isn't. Working as intended.

    Headshots Required To Kill Zeds

This mod isn't going for gameplay over realism.

    New Zombie LOS

I was skeptical at first. After a while I'm loving it. Now we have to sneak like we would if we were sneaking past actual people IRL. You have to think about a strategy (distractions, camouflage, offense/defense, etc) and not simply crouch in front of their freaking faces just far away enough to avoid some arbitrary aggro-range like in some kind of WoW-style MMO. People complain about too many empty tin-cans lying around while completely missing the point of them existing (realism aside).

    Romero Zombie vs Rage Infected

Pretty sure Rocket never changed his mind about the infected being living people. What I heard during his presentation was that he repeatedly insists on calling them infected to convince himself they are not zombies. Likely because it's easy to get drawn into the trend of calling them zombies, even when they per definition are not. I understand his desire to keep the simulation scientifically plausible and not mixing it up with fantasy. I don't want him to lose this vision. I am very happy to finally have found a developer who thinks somewhat like I do and I don't want yet another dev making compromises for the sake of short-term popularity. Even less so if it takes time and effort away from their current plans just to re-make an established fundamental design.

    Throw Animation..

I think you mean LMB. I don't think it can be cancelled, and I also have trouble knowing how far the throw will be as I'm not using crosshairs. Any pro-tips from any pro-throwers? PS. Empty cans are the solution to the new zombie visual range.

    Random death and item loss

This just happened to me a few minutes ago. Same place. Someone was outside and said something about not shooting him (was just laying prone inside to get out of the rain, had just gotten sick) and maybe 2 minutes later I went suddenly unconscious and started bleeding. I wondered what it may had been and realized I would survive if I would just wait until I regained consciousness and bandaged myself, but the timer suddenly refreshed itself and right after that I instantly died. I had coyote pack and all I needed to survive, except for anti-biotics. I'm sad/frustrated. PS. Above links are dead.

    Holsters Can HELP!!!

I think holster mode being default for traveling/exploring/hunting/anything you do when not in a threatening situation would have an enormous impact on the KoS plague. If you watch any movies/series/RL situations or just take a moment to think about it, people don't walk around with their gun drawn for no reason, and going by the amount of time spent sneaking, killing zombies or hunting animals/players in proportion to the amount of time spent walking around or doing anything else to survive in DayZ, having our guns holstered should be a default mode. Make holstered/shouldered weapons the default mode and give some penalty to agility, dexterity, stamina, etc when not holstered or shouldered. For those saying "But unarmed people get killed all the time!!1" I disagree, as I'm sure statistics/metrics can confirm my observations that unarmed people very rarely get killed, and when they do, it is by some bored group of bandits messing around along the coast. See youtube and play the game for reference. Not that I can give a huge sample, but I only once witnessed a player firing a weapon by the beach in over a month of intensive playing, and that was when I first started playing and I was fired at by some makarov-noob who just spawned. I have respawned a lot of times since but no such thing ever happened again. Yesterday I met several unarmed or melee-equipped players and we got along/handled the situation just fine in a non-violent way. I was killed while unarmed only when navigating through Cherno during a huge firefight all over the town, or while scavenging Balota towers/airfield. Sidenote: I'd like to be able to shoulder/holster one weapon and wielding another, at the cost of having to use bag space to store it when not using. But this little feature could maybe be implemented after inventory system is reworked.

    Invincible inside pine tree

Is this always true? There are a lot of pinetrees used for hiding very frequently, so this would be more noticeable if so. Personally didn't have a problem with this.
  11. I want to know if this is really a bug or not. I had one of these guns 2 days ago, but I had no luck in changing the sights mode. I assumed it couldn't be changed, but if as reported above the NV was turned off once by default, maybe it is supposed to be toggleable? That would make the gun actually useful. As it is now, I am just blinded most of the time for aiming down the sights at night. Can't navigate using the sights. Maybe it's useful for those with normal NVG's and designated spotters, etc.

    Weird Teleporting

Happened twice to me too. Randomly teleported to a position I was at earlier. First time it happened I switched servers, thinking it was a hacker and not wanting to die to one. Second time I kept playing and nothing weird happened after. This has been the last two days or so.
  13. I LOVE this idea! While surviving for several days atm is quite rare, it's not because of the difficulty in surviving per say, but because of bugs and snipes you never see coming. I would love if surviving was really hard and unforgiving, forcing you to adapt and learn. I would love more long-term consequences, like breaking a leg and having to crouch for several days with a stilt before you start recovering (it should feel worthwhile - death isn't just an inconvenience or a fresh start; it's not even an option!) or being infected and slowly going ill over a series of days until cured (make the cure very rare, so that you hesitate to tell your companions about your illness because they might just dispatch of you, risking all their safety with your silence). But most important of all is to take focus away from military weapons and high-end gear and put more focus on food, drink, fortification, stealth and functional weapons. Silenced weapons and ammo shouldn't just be an achievement for any one player; it should be an unthinkable luxury only wielded by the most successful of groups/clans who were brave enough to fight/sneak their way to a military storage. Traveling shouldn't be the best way of surviving; fortifying should, even for a loner. When the environment and infected is your worst enemy, you will not mindlessly kill other living people when you meet them.

    Dog house loot bugged?

Once I found an alice-pack in one and another time a zombie popped out of one, sprinting and screaming at me. I nearly shat my pants.
  15. I'm trying the x2 num - and it isn't toggled even though my controls have it set to be D: Doesn't work with snipers and maybe some vehicles.
  16. 3DP is not ok. The gameplay that 3DP enables is ridiculous and does not belong in DayZ. BUT, what's worse is the peripheral indicators. EVERY SERVER has them and it's basically a wallhack. Everyone is highlighted like a christmas decoration when they are within range for me to shoot at them. I don't even play on noob-servers. I play on [ALL:OFF] and Expert servers and this is ruining my game. I want to play the game, not abuse peripheral to get an advantage. Please remove it. It's as bad as nametags.
  17. Always save a vehicle often' date=' as you never know if you disconnect, server crashes, game crashes etc. [/quote'] I didn't know saving was for location as well. Thanks, I'll keep that in mind.
  18. I was driving a vehicle by the coast outside the "map" and logged in with no vehicle and at a different location from before and I'm dying from hunger.... I can't take loosing all these things right now. Not again.
  19. Awesome, spawned in debug plains after this shit with very little food and drink. IT'S GETTING OLD. I RAN FROM HERE YESTERDAY TOO! EDIT: Actually, I have raw meat but no pile of wood. Fuck this. I'm refusing to play until my character is back on the map.

Unluckiest Thing That Happened To You?

I was so happy to read that the ocean no longer eats your gear. WRONG, I HOPE MY NVGs, MP5SD6, BIZON AND ALICE-PACK LIKE IT DOWN THERE BECAUSE I CAN'T SWIM DOWNWARDS TO WHERE I SEE THEM LYING TO PICK THEM UP! Seriously, losing gear in the ocean? Sure, if you really feel it necessary to dump everything you fucking need to survive just to reach the beach faster. Can't I just, like, loose some ammo or anything other than my fucking Heli-crash loot to loose weight?!
  21. I am so fucking mad right now. I have the beta and I decided that swimming was safe after reading about it. My Bizon, MP5SD6, ALICE-pack, NVGs and everything I could ever need is now on the fucking bottom of the ocean! I can see it on the floor but not grab it. The most retarded thing ever. /wrists

    DayZ Ambient Music/Sound

I have to say I don't like random branches breaking or the mesh fence jumping mentioned above because it's misleading. It doesn't make any sense. If there was an animal breaking a branch that'd be fine, but when it happens randomly it only serves to make you less likely to pick up on the actual sounds of players. I remember clearly once when I was in a building on the second floor (was an apartment) I heard something like a metal footstep which I disregarded as ambiance, only to get shot in the face further down the stairs on my way out. It was in the middle of the night. If all noises in the game had actual causes, it would be a lot more intense. A branch breaks? Better hope it's a clumsy bunny and not a sociopath stalking you.
  23. Could it be that the cause of this whole "team deathmatch" problem is the fact that we (any/all players) are pretty much walking pinatas because we always carry most of what we own with us at all times? Shouldn't stashing our equipment away (if only for a few minutes while we go check out that house for any potential supplies) come more naturally throughout our travels? If we would only travel more lightly more often, maybe this bean-killing mentality would be less of a problem. The risk would still be just as great in engaging in battle (maybe have our bags/carts* despawn fast enough to make it hard for us to recover them after a respawn but slow enough to enable the killer or some random nearby to search for it?) but the gain would be a lot less for spontaneous situations, seeing as finding the murder-victim's stash would be pretty slim. Also, if it were real life; would you really run around with 4 cans of beans and 4 soda cans, some steaks, a rifle and a sideweapon (plus whatever else we might carry in-game) everywhere you go? Wouldn't it be easier to just leave your shit some place relatively safe while you go sneaking around in zombie-infested areas and just bring an empty, light-weight bag with you for any beans you find and want to bring back? Would you bring your assault rifle/sniper/shotgun with you into zombie-town, or just the pistol? *I want a trolley to put all my beans in! I could take the hit to travel-time and stamina, easily. Just let me keep all those beans! Inb5 "tents": What I'm talking about isn't as much about settling down somewhere for the night as much as just temporarily "parking our loot-trolley" somewhere at the treeline while exploring the village/farm/reading the roadsigns. I know you can put your bag on the ground, but maybe implementing a feature to just throw everything not needed in desperate situations down on the ground (and maybe add a camo-blanket as an item to conceal it) would make more people use it more often, etc. (Also, realistically, would hostile strangers even be on your "top 5 worries list" as a seemingly lone survivor in this apocalyptic situation?) Maybe this belongs in the "Suggestions" section, but I wanna keep this discussion more general about traveling light vs. living geared up and mobile vs. slower migration/exploration with a lot of camping, killing for lootz in general and whether this actually plays a big role in the abundance of bean-bandits and griefers. All ideas and criticisms are welcome. Except for the stupid ones. Also, sorry if there's already a similar thread. I honestly couldn't think of any search keywords for this topic. EDIT: Obviously this "to bring or not to bring backpack into town" would be based on some mechanic involving increased/decreased stamina and dexterity based on weight of load-out.
