    FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!!

I don't give a fuck about god, but can anyone tell me why some of the sounds the zeds made in earlier versions of the mod is no longer there? I recently saw a video from april or may where they had some different sound they made when aggroed.
  2. Don't make predictions about things you have no understanding of. Unless you're a neuroscientist, evolutionary biologist or a psychologist, please don't try to preach about it.
  3. The argument that there should be mil-grade equipment can easily be countered with the fact that we were washed up on the shore after the party was over. Everyone was either gone or dead. The only equipment we should find we should have to rip out of the cold, rotting, dead hands of eaten soldiers and civilians. Everyone that managed to escape wouldn't have left without everything worth a damn in that situation. Finding a single freaking battery in an otherwise empty firearms storage should be considered lucky.
  4. I agree. Finding an M4 and camo outfits isn't really what one would expect out of an apocalypse situation. I would be more ok with herding weapons if they weren't attractive in themselves; like winnies, M1014, CZ550, etc. It would feel more like I was herding them because firearms are useful in defending against zeds, rather than they are an advantage over other players with inferior attachments on their weapons. I'd quite honestly prefer to just use a crossbow, but the current one isn't practical when compared to alternatives. Gear really shouldn't be the goal of the game. The goal should be supplies and tools. Equipment is luxury. Being able to defend against and kill zeds should be a fucking privilege, never mind other human beings. I want the setting to be more like The Road, only with infected people and elements of horror.
  5. Done. Good incentive, will be interesting to see results of this one.
  6. I hope you aren't working for NASA or ESA. Contribution: -When you can't help but notice and scan an enclosed set of pine trees close together that would make a good camping spot. -When you wake up in your chair to the "YOU ARE DEAD" screen, or in the best case scenario; your character stuck running/crawling against a tree.
  7. I just want to add (although it might have been brought up earlier) that I think the biggest reason there's so little incentive to team up is the fact that people can just log off at any moment and have their character poof out of the world and potentially never come back. I'm not talking about alt+f4, but the fact that characters disappear when a player ends his playsession. This lack of persistence and permanency of the social environment leads to not bothering to ask anyone for help. Empathy aside, why care what happens to a player you meet if he will only be around for a couple of hours, if even that? In a similar RL situation, meeting another person like this would force you to choose between two things: Kill and suffer the psychological consequences as well as the loss of a potential asset, or let him/her live and enjoy the advantages it offers (extra overwatch, unique specializations and knowledge, extra pair of hands, diversity of thinking, social stimulation, etc) while accepting the gamble hoping the person is mentally sane, loyal and useful to you. Let's face it, there are many ways in which teamwork is largely superior to soloing even with the limited tools we have right now in the game, but why would anyone risk their lives to make contact and team up with a stranger when the benefits may only last for a couple of minutes, or if lucky, a couple of hours (if very lucky, you make a new friend to stay in contact with in the future, but the odds for this aren't in your favour) and after that, any items you spent or gave to that person disappears with him/her and you have exposed yourself, compromising your personal integrity/security. Shooting the person while he/she is unaware is relatively free of risk and you gain all their possessions, so in those few seconds you have gained more than you would have after a few hours of team-work and you have avoided the risk of betrayal or hostility. Maybe it could be helped (later on in development, in standalone) by having a huge playable world, lock character to a server (preferably with some more reliable servers) and have them remain in the world even when offline. So when a player logs out, the character goes to sleep, effectively exposing itself to all other players. This way, camps would then play a huge role, and when you meet another person, that person would then always be available for you to hang around and keep an eye on, for good or bad. It would mean nobody could just escape without actually hiding from someone, and it would mean that everyone would be more thoughtful and respectful towards other players that they team up with; cause if they do something stupid, they must either actually GTFO or suffer significant consequences. No more griefing before a log out. Items shared between groups would stay shared within the group no matter who is playing at any given moment. Granted, the risk of letting a stranger hang around you when you 'sleep' is significant, but isn't that how it works in real life?
  8. Q: Regarding the concept of a "Tranquillity server"; if we are all to play on the same server, under the same rules and conditions, will that mean all players around the world will have to conform to the same day/night-cycle of 24 hours?

    Arma update nerfed revolver?

I don't wish to further derail the thread, but you are very much too average in your ability to think rationally for me to bother wasting my time with you. You selectively misread my post, although possibly unknowingly. Besides, using logic to draw conclusions and then trying to explain this process to a stupid person could quite possibly be mistaken for arrogance... in the eyes of a stupid person.
  10. I think Rocket is plenty stressed out already. Just let him work until he's done.

    Strange radio transmission

Please add stuff like this in the game. I am incredibly creeped out and excited by transmissions like these and they are great for adding some background to the lore of the game. Makes me drool for the stand-a-lone, more content-heavy horror-survival that is to be DayZ.
  12. Long live sandboxes; the only game-genre where I am allowed to offend and murder superstitious people! Although I'll just be the bystander this time around. I'm sure others will do what must be done and upload it to YT for my and other's viewing pleasure. Also, you have the right to be offended and anything you say can be used against you.

    Arma update nerfed revolver?

Could you expand on your thought-process a little, here? I feel confident in my understanding of his vision because everything he says might as well had been me talking, because he shares my preferences amazingly well. He has said several times what he wants to do with this project, I have listened to all interviews I know of (the latest being with some youtuber (codsomething, cba to look it up atm) and the one before that was with the guru-guys (just a few days ago) where he stated he will not compromise in his design for authenticity above all else. He also voted in a poll about horror-elements that he prefers non-supernatural horror (which he expanded on in I believe his latest interview by saying he consider the infected type of "zombies" more terrifying because they are believable). Now, until there's a source to the claim that he suddenly changed his mind in the last 2 days, I'm gonna keep calling BS to this claim. Maybe that video-clip more appropriately describes your situation atm.

Source or I call BS. Actually, let me call BS right now because I feel pretty confident in my understanding of Rocket's vision..

"Save Old Bike" doesn't do shit...

I've never been able to keep a vehicle for more than a day/play session. Tents sometimes save, sometimes wiped of contents and sometimes they just disappear completely. The only items I've ever been able to keep for more than ~2 days are the ones I'm carrying with me, but even then they sometimes just disappear. Kind of makes me want to log off and just wait for the standalone. I want to survive, (re)build and settle down in the game, not just running around looking at the same trees, houses, loot spawns and the occasional bandit every time I play. My play sessions nowadays consists of running and running for hours on end just looking for the rare sight of survivor camps and vehicles, because it's more dynamic than raiding the supermarket for the 354468413th time, picking up the same loot from the same spawns and using the loot for the same things every. single. time. Eating beans, drinking cokes, throwing cans, ignore the rest because I already have all I need to survive. I'm trying to be creative, but playing alone really doesn't allow for much exciting experiences when all there is to do is jerk around with friends and organizing events. Organizing my one-man-army isn't very rewarding or challenging, not to mention the conversations between me and myself are growing thin when there isn't much new information to be process around me. I'm just hoping for the few dynamic mechanics there are to be more stable and reliable. Building a camp of tents, wires and sandbags(of which I haven't found a single one in over 200h of gameplay) is better than to just keep running around trees. tl;dr: I'm bored with the game, but too stubborn to accept the sad truth that the game is too static and repetitive in its current state.
  17. Excited to hear about the cosmetic city carnage and clothing system thingy being a priority! Can't wait for the next batch of answers.

    Dayz commander.

Don't waste your time on this oblivious/trolling fool. If he hasn't figured it out yet, there's no helping him.

    Dayz commander.

Didn't you ask this in the DayZ Commander sticky as well? Scans have shown it's clean and a lot of people are using it. There's no conspiracy.
  20. LOL. I love it. And Green Mountain is creepy.
  21. I haven't heard him specify about the requirements, could you provide a source/quote for that? Otherwise, can you add these?: Q: Will it be possible for a single person to build an underground base, or is a group required? and if possibe; Q: Will underground bases be tied to someone's character like tents, and if so, will they 'despawn' after death of said character? Edit: Sorry, I edited this post a few times. Hopefully I won't be quoted before I'm done :P
  22. Q: Characters having auto-logging diaries (to create a depth and history to a character's life) that can be looted/read post death? Q: Stronger, unique character identity for each 'life'? Q: Regarding structures built by players (underground facilities or camps), is the intention for these to be accessible/inheritable across respawns, or will they be tied to a character's life for the sake of having a 'life' be more valuable? Q: A more intuitive system for holstering/lowering weapons (alternatively having it be the default mode as opposed to weapons-at-the-ready) and the ability to disarm other players?
  23. Very good post. But why did you have to ruin it with this?: That's like... your opinion... man. Rocket doesn't want magical zombies in DayZ. He wants infected humans and he plans on getting his brother involved (at least I interpreted it so from his latest interview) to help him out with the more scientific details of the disease so that he can increase the diversity of the zeds, refine their behavior and properties. You can't tell me Romero's zombies are more horrifying than 28 Days Later infected who sprints towards you with the intention of ripping you to fucking pieces and disregards their own pains. Which one do you wish to startle the least? Which one induces more panic and fear into the lonely survivor entrenched in some alleyway surrounded by these things? Regardless the subjective answer, it's like saying "to increase the surviving aspect of this game, fanta cans needs to replace the pepsi cans". Come on now. Work with what we have.
  24. Did this happen to anyone else? Was it a hacker? Lag? I just fell over dead.
