Devin (DayZ)

Okay, been playing Dayz For a couple of weeks now, and in that time i have spent 80% if not more of my playing time, alone. I once met another survivor who did not shoot me on sight, but infact responded to my direct chat. We then used Skype to communicate. His other friend met us too. It was a good time, and was a much more enjoyable experience when i was with others. And another time someone instructed me to get on " mumble " on there communication server. My one question is, everyone logs in, and out and different times. How can you find a single friendly survivor to partner up with ( more a less a large group!), And all stay together?. Are there any Clans/Groups in which travel and log in/out together and what not?. I just hate having to be alone, it gets old quick. And EACH time i see a survivor i always use Direct Chat VOIP to ID that both i am friendly, and i am looking for a partner/survivor friend. And i still just get shot at. More then half the times i win the firearm exchanges, but i just wish i could once find someone that wasnt instantly killing other survivors on sight. The way i see Day Z so far, you can play it two ways. 1: Survivor -Gathering Food/water Supplies -Killing Zombies & Grouping up, Camps, Ect. - Saving other Survivors from zombies and gearing them up 2: Bandit - Gather Food./ Water / Supplies - always be in the Cherno/Electro area - Shoot any person on sight. What i hate, is bandits arent really bandits. It's one thing to walk into a store im looting and aim a gun at me and use VOIP to be like " DROP YOUR GEAR IM ROBBING YOU, DONT MOVE OR ILL SHOOT". That is being a bandit. But the " Bandit's " here just shoot people from 1.2 Clicks out with a sniper Rifle for fun, dont gather there kills gear or equipment, and are essentially just deathmatching morons. Is there any group in the US East time zone ( I live in NY ) That can take me under there wing and show me the ropes?.

Yeah, well half the time when i am shot and killed, i am merely standing there with a flashlight, and a guy infront of me with an M16 In my face, and just shoots me. And also 1/4 " Bandits" even check the gear of there kills. Hell some of them just shoot people for fun and dont kill them. And also the SS Logo is my avatar because they look like ones from Kiss. Jk my grandfather was a Waffen SS operator, and i retain my families views and ideals. Haters gonna hate.

Not sure what you implied with that link... But regardless my Steam is Devin00 OR Lunchbox. I am still looking for a group, i am ALWAYS based out of Electro/Cherno as i dont have a vehicle. I stay pent up in the cities for days on end. Add my on steam so we can link up

I can play fine if with the Six Launcher for Day z , as long as i have the beta checked, and the start in steam ( if possible ) unchecked. However, i NEED my steam overlay in order to play a high brow mod such as Day Z. And if i even try to connect without six launcher, via the games multiplayer menu, i just get the whole " you cannot play/edit this mission; it is dependent on downloadable content that has been deleted.dayz_code, dayz_weapons, dayz_equip, dayz_vehicles" . I have The Beta Patch, Arma2 and operation arrowhead ( Not combined operations, but both full games on steam ). What can i do in order to play with the steam overlay?, this is a must!. Can anyone assist me?.

:dodgy: First of all, i would like to thank this great community in its attempts to assist me in my problems with this modification. Although all attempts thus far have been unsuccessful, i need your assistance once more. Okay. After three days of troubleshooting and a LOT of frustration due to not being able to play Day Z properly, i have given up. :( I have Deleted Arma 2, and Operation Arrowhead in program files, and then removed them from steam, and even uninstalled steam itself. Steam is re downloaded and installed. As i speak my Arma 2 , And Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead are finishing downloading. I am wondering as a user in my position ( NOT having Combined ops, just both games on steam ) What are my Steps RIGHT after the downloads complete on steam?. If i need the Beta patch, please someone link me to the most recent version, i believe it was 1.6.9357 , or something like that. I honestly dont remember. But i was getting a lot of " Server rejected connection, bad version " problems, that i think were the cause of that. And after said Beta Patch, should i install Day Z through the Six Launcher / Updater system?. And if so, What order do i use those in?. Using the Updater before looked rather complex. The Launcher was simple enough. Question being, With my Two individual games ( While still in steam ) Not being combined operations, will Six work for me?, or do i need a manual install?. Please, any assistance would be greatly appreciated. I fell in love with this mod the first time i played it, and desperately want to get back on.

MAJOR UPDATE!!! I was using Arma 2 Free and my full operation Arrowhead prior to buying the full arma 2. At one point to get Dayz to function i needed to copy some Arma 2 Free files to a folder in OA. This screwed everything up. I have manually deleted Arma 2 and OA from my computer, and uninstalled steam. I have now reinstalled steam, and am re-downloading arma 2 and OA, and am going to start the whole process over again. I think this may resolve the issue. :huh:

Okay, i am downloading the Dayz " Latest Torrent " , I hope that its 1.7.1.5. ( Once again sorry for double post ) Okay, i extracted all the mod files to the Addons folder, inside the Dayz folder, inside my OA Folder. Six Launcher still has the orange " Install " button on it, as if i did not have the mod. However still when i attempt to connect, it still says wrong version. HOWEVER I JUST HAD AN EPIPHANY!!!! I was using the Arma 2 Free demo with OA Before to play Dayz. Recently i caved in and made the purchase of Arma 2 to play Dayz to its full potential. However i am still seeing " Arma 2 Free " when i start up, and in the menu. Even though its not even in my Steam library. I have Reinstalled OA and Arma 2, and it still says i have Arma 2 Free somehow. What can i do?. Im guessing this is the cause for the wrong version...

Okay, home from work, and back to my near 35th hour of troubleshooting day z :-/ I have deleted BOTH Dayz Folders in my Arma 2 OA, and Arma 2 Folder. And by " Manual" Install do you mean NOT using six launcher / updater to install the game?. Should i download and transfer all the files manually?.

Same, i even used the beta patch highlighted in the green bar, saying it was the most recent.

( Sorry, Self Bump ) Going to work now fellas, i appreciate all assistance given thus far, however i have a steam group of like 15-20 guys in which all use the steam overlay to play properly, and i need it. I have both FULL games from steam, and hell, when i launch operation arrowhead, and it gives the the option to run Combined Operations ( Which i dont own, just both games ) , I do it. And it launches both games. And still with Dayz marked in expansions, as well as beta, it still doesn't work. Please, anyone. I am desperate to play this game to its full potential. AND also, I have been getting the noentrybin/config/weapons error also as hundreds of other players have. Everyone says " Oh its nothing ", But it is the reason i am not seeing weapons spawn. THAT is a problem. How can i fix that as well?. Thanks for all the support again guys.

Bump. me and 20 other friends on my steam get this. And then we wonder " Why is all the loot just ammo and beans and stuff?, where are the guns. " Dont say " Continue, it doesn't effect your game. ". Because last time i checked, not having access to firearms that you find around the map, effects my game. BIG TIME. How can we get this file?, does anyone have it hosted, how do we resolve this?, hundred are getting this error.

Thanks for all the help, and i am glad to see it is assisting others. However i still appear to be screwed when it comes to playing though steam. Here's the situation on all fronts. 1 : If i launch OA or Combined Ops, and attempt to join a server, i get " Rejected Connection, Bad Version " (( Even though i installed the patch as admin, and the script, as shown here )) http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=14440&highlight=Bad+version 2: If i use Six Launcher with the " Launch through steam ( If possible ) Option , right after launch i get the " Error creating direct3d error " . Im not sure why i get this, some say it's because of improper launch parameters, but mine are the usual " -mod=@DayZ -nosplash ". 3: The ONLY way in which it launches, and allows me to play Day Z is with Six Launcher, Beta Checked, and Steam Launch option unchecked. I cant even join games manually without Six Launcher anymore. Are there any other options?, what else can i do?. Edit : Even after trying that fix listed above, and launching through my non steam game shortcut, if i attempt to join a game i get the same " you cannot play/edit this mission; it is dependent on downloadable content that has been deleted.dayz_code, dayz_weapons, dayz_equip, dayz_vehicles" dumb thing. And if i dont get THAT error ,its the " Rejected Connection, Bad Version". I just dont see how my Arma 2 & OA could be out of date ( when it comes to the beta patch...i already applied. I downloaded the file in the green bar, the latest patch.) As title says, after the 1.7.1.4 patch or whatever ( the most recent ) , i am still having problems connecting. I DONT have combined operations, but i have Arma 2 , and Operation Arrowhead. It was working just fine with the recent 1.7.1.1 patch, but now since this patch every 1.7.1.4 server i join just has me sitting at " Waiting for host " for LITERALLY 40+ Minutes. I cannot seem to join any single server. Is this due to player traffic due to all the new fixes and players all jumping to join games?, what should i do?. Thanks. ~ Devin. ( Sorry...But multiple people with the issue ) Bump? Anyone have any idea?, could it just be player traffic?, i mean an hour should be long enough to join ANY game.

Self Bump I am still getting this, even with Arma 2, Operation Arrowhead, the betapatch, and Dayz installed properly. It sit's there forever...

Bumpin this guys thread, i was FINE and smooth and the gameplay was enjoyable as hell in 1.7.1.1, But after my 1.7.1.4 update or w/e, i cant seem to connect to any servers due to the waiting for host issue. at first i thought " well hey, i JUST watched like 200 servers go from grey to white with new updates, so a lot of people must be joining...i will wait. 40 minutes later, Nada. And same on any other server, even of low player capacity. :huh:

Im still " Waiting on host " , for 30+ minutes, on multiple servers. I cant even manage to connect, and i have the latest version. I literally slowly watched as the server list went from grey, to white. Yet' still i cant connect to them. is " waiting for host " terms for " there are 5-8 people Qued infront of you to join?, is that why i wait at this screen for 30 mins to no avail?.

If only ANY server was up with the new 1.7.1.2....all of them are greyed out for me still.

Yeah, all the servers are greyed out for me still, and are out of date. Also, i have a question. With Six Launcher, if i choose to open through steam ( Which i want to do ) , I get a " Error creating Direct3D 9 Graphical engine " error and cant play. But if i launch without the steam box enabled, and just Beta...it works fine. Having a steam overlay is key for me with communications with other survivors. How can i get it to work launching through steam?.

We both Have Operation Arrowhead and Arma 2, we have properly installed the dayz mod with the Six Updater and Launcher. The mod Works fine, as do the games intself. HOWEVER. Since this patch, myself and my friend have been experiencing cripplingly low FPS, around 4-8 frames, making the mod unplayable. Singleplayer runs fine, as well as other Multiplayer servers in which are not Day z Mod enabled. I know there are many others out there experiencing this problem, and i see the rolling hotfix add's melee weapons, but does it resolve this FPS problem all of us are having?.:huh:

Yeah, Me AND my friend have crippling FPS on 1.7.11 servers. It's terrible.

So that means me and my friend arent the only ones experiencing this crippling unplayable FPS?. When will it be fixed?, i dont understand how so many servers can be full and operational with so many people having so much trouble. So we are not alone in the terrible FPS since patch?.

me AND my friend who just bought both games are experiencing REALLY low FPS since the patch, i was playing with 45+ FPS Before the patch, but now neither of us can play. how can we resolve this?.

Will this resolve the crippling unplayable frame rate that thousands are experiencing?. I mean i was running 45 FPS before the patch, now its like 4-7, and completely unplayable. What can i do?. :huh:

Dude... I have been using Arma 2 Free demo, and my Full Operation Arrowhead , and it worked JUST fine up until this recent patch. However even prior to patch i was having some loot not spawning issues... But since the Update, and the new Six Launcher / Updater system, i get the " "Error Creating Direct3D 9 Graphical Engine" Error thing. And if i attempt to join games in the multiplayer menu of the Game itself, it says Bad version, and wont let me connect. And EVERYTIME i launch, even Operation Arrowhead, it launches as Arma 2 Free. But in the bottom left it shows OA and Arma 2 are there and on, same with Dayz. I JUST now bought Arma 2 on steam, and deleted my Arma 2 Free. Im hoping this will allow me to play the mod without issue , as i will have both full games. Will i encounter any issues?. I bought OA for 39.99 a WHILE ago, and just got Arma 2 for 19.99 today, and not the combined operations back. It will still function with both games right?.

As the title reads, i am getting the " Error Creating Direct39 9 Graphical Engine " error right after a black screen when i attempt to launch through the new Launch Six DayZ Launcher thingy. I dont have " Combined Operations " Exactly. I have operation arrowhead, and recently got Arma 2 as a seperate purchase/install from steam just in order to play this mod. However i have been having multiple difficulties in getting it to function properly. This " Error Creating Direct39 9 Graphical Engine " Being the latest. What can i do to resolve this?, i have reinstalled BOTH games through steam, and also i have validated their files to assure the integrity of them. I have done the Manual install as well. I am running out of options, what should i do Fellas?, I desperately need assistance. :-/
