So you know there is not a release date from what Dean said in this post yet, you ask him if there is an internal date as he previously stated? Seems like an illogical thing to say, he previously may have had an intended release date (he has had many) but there aren't any any-more. Things change. A lot. Being quizzical about statements from months ago as opposed to a statement from 2 days ago is illogical in my mind.

Yeah, he also said that he wanted it to be released December 2012, even if Dean says it take it as speculation until you can actually download the client from the website and not some shitty leaked torrent.
-
The internal date was for milestones rather than a release of the Alpha.
-
That's misleading, but it's for the mod.
-
Amen brother!

Bandits will always be a part of the game as they would be in a real apocalypse scenario. Sure you can try and give people an incentive to trade or not shoot people without much reason. But there will always be people who kill just to see if they had any loot of worth.
-
You know you could have logged off, waited for people to get to your location then logged back in on a different server?
-
Oh great, that's all we need. Bandits in full Nazi suit, shouting "DEIN JUDEN!" at any unfortunate person to cross their paths, before shooting them several times and looting their cold, dead corpse.

Beating people to death with a dirty boot? FUCK YEAH!

DAMNIT ROCKET! WHY ARE YOU TALKING TO THE COMMUNITY WHEN YOU SHOULD BE MAKING A GAME!!!!! Huh, typing a stupid sentence isn't fun in anyway shape or form... Oh well. Just wait for someone to say that and actually mean it...
-
My kind of people!
-
Why go through the trouble of making a voice changer when you can just put on a voice?
-
Thanks! I will, and if people can't take being killed in a game then they should leave the internet as well as DayZ. In fact they deserve to be spawn killed for eternity because they're such bitches about it.
-
Sometimes for bandages yes, other times just to make them angry for the fun of it. The benefit is the amusement I get from people raging quietly or in side chat.

There is no wrong or right way to play the game, so says Rocket. As for the camping in one spot, it's quite fun camping a well traveled area, such as the NWAF or the Elektro hill, just to snipe any unfortunate soul who crosses your sights. It's fun knowing they either ran for an hour to get there, or they recently spawned and then get shot in the face and rage hard.

Make that 24!! If I were Dean I'd be overjoyed at a 24 player rate. It would surely make me rich!
-
You could use an entrenching tool to dig for worms on grass, use worms as bait, there's like a 15% chance on getting worms per dig.

Also playing since 1.7, and you're saying that most of the DayZ fanbase have fucked off? Pal, you've been here for a tiny iota of time compared to most on this forum. I've been here over a year, not that long in the grand scheme of things. People play things then get bored of them. Welcome to the internet. Claiming them to have gone away or lost interest in the Standalone is just speculation until you talk to each of the "97%" of the 1.75 million players which is - 1,697,500. Which would leave 525,000 people playing the mod, which would still be a lot.
-
Funny, because it says "Unique Players : 1,737,741" for me.

Everything you just said then is laughable. No communication? Well he has apparently posted 415 topics saying they are making progress... Oxymoron right there. Why is it so hard to make a date for the release? Because they're adding new features with unforeseen consequences such as breaking the build and crashing the player every 5 minutes. "The game HAD to ship 1 year ago" No it didn't. The game doesn't HAVE to ship at any time other than when it is ready and playable. "Literally nobody cares about it any more" I care, people on this forum care, and you care enough to cry about there being no set date. Another oxymoron. "It can't take forever" Look at Duke Nukem Forever. Evidently it CAN take forever to make a game. And my personal favourite: "at least show the community something about the progress. " Well. They are releasing a Devblog next week. So yeah. They kind of are showing some progress to the community. EDIT: Let me point out what happens when people rush a game. RAGE, one of the most anticipated titles from ID software, was a good game, but Bethesda forced ID to rush and as a result the ending was fucking terrible and there were apsects of the game which could have been much better and aspects that just weren't there, but were promised. Aliens: Colonial Marines too. That was promised to be a great game, was rushed and ended up being fucking horrific, bad graphics, terrible game play and disappointing over all. Calm your tits and wait. Or go away and play something else.

So... you don't want him to release information about what they've been doing for a few months? Unless they say when they will release it to Alpha? Yeah, most of the people in this topic would disagree heavily. As for the whole Rocket setting times and then not meeting them. Welcome to the games industry. Where deadlines are not often met. Where games are push back weeks, months, years beyond the initial announced release date. Look at Duke Nukem Forever for fucks sake. 12 years. TWELVE YEARS! And you're crying because a game that has been in development for 1 year is not released? I suggest you do research on most of the popular games and their development times, and any changes in release date. Hell, just look at every Valve game, they push games back months at a time to make the game better. Either nut up or shut up.
-
Well that is a cretinous way of thinking, either you have genuinely missed any info Dean has posted, or you are chatting out your arse, They are progressing and changing things quite quickly, so if they were to devblog, it would be redundant soon after because they changed/removed components, like this bubble feature they're adding, That takes some doing. If you really want to see what they're doing, go download the leaked copy of DayZ standalone, see how buggy it is, how drastically unplayable it is, how far they've come from the last big games/press junket. Instead of pissing snot out of your nose, either go away, or wait. It's simple.
-
It's totally justifiable, Dean made a free mod of their game which brought lots of people to it, I for one bought ARMA 2 combined ops for £25 about a year ago just for DayZ, still not touched ARMA 2 at all, and I'm sure that a very large amount of the 1.7Million unique DayZ players bought ARMA 2 just for DayZ too. So if someone made a mod on a hard to work with engine (for what he wanted to make) that brings in LOTS of money for you, surely you would hire that person to make the game they always wanted to with a better engine and free roam.

Yeah, I always say that Realism gets in the way of fun.
