I'd imagine they'd despawn after a set amount of time like 10 minutes, just to leave no burden on the servers. -

Triviality is in the eye of the beholder. (To twist an old saying) I find Football (soccer) to be trivial, but millions of people are fanatic about it. -

It essentially is from scratch. Apart from two things: they've had to heavily modify an existing engine to fit their needs and wants and they have a map layout that is pretty much copied from the mod. However, they've done textures anew, sounds anew, animations anew, items anew, server side to client side conversing anew, character skeletons anew, models anew. They WILL do zombies AI anew too. COD generally does all of this too with two/three teams working on each aspect of the game. (ie Singleplayer, Multiplayer and zombies/spec ops) Now, where the differences lie are here. COD has a 6-8 hour campaign per year and the multiplayer launches with something like 8 maps, 30 weapons, 30 perks, 30 kill streaks. It's not as complicated as making a functioning 255 Squared KM map, literally thousands of items be it clothes, food, junk, weapons, ammo, medical, armour (and cars/car related items down the road(pun not intended)). COD in comparison to what we've been promised from DayZ is just nothing. It's like the difference between a megabyte and a gigabyte. Sure they make their COD instalments quite quickly, but that's because they're whipped by Activision to release their biggest cash cow anally, and incomplete, what with every COD since MW2 charging £15 for 4 multiplayer maps throughout the year. (For PC anyway.) -

The Last of us isn't a 255 square KM open world map though. It's a series of little maps where the team tweaked the AI to work perfectly in all of those situations. With DayZ in such a huge map there will be LOADS of problems concerning AI. Such as bad clipping (zombies attacking through walls/waling literally through the floors) to name one. -

Wow. I can't tell if that is ignorance, or idiocy. They plan things, and if they don't work they plan other things. They need to have faith in the things they plan up until the very moment they know for a fact it's not up to scratch or won't work. I'm pretty sure Rocket doesn't say things just so he can say otherwise a few months later. All I'm getting from your walls of diarrhoea is you are too impatient and you have no understanding of project planning/project implementation or game development processes. -

We're not blind. We understand that the game has suffered setbacks and perhaps things haven't gone to our likings. But what can we do about it? Nothing. Except cry like a 2 year old girl having a temper tantrum, and where does that get us? Nowhere except for people laughing at us and some other 2 year old girls agreeing with us. Do you know why game developers always say things like "INNOVATIVE!" "Game changing" and all that shit? It's to sell their games, to make people interested. Imaging. Just imagine for one second Dean were to go on Twitter and say "Rocket2Guns - DayZ is fucking stupid, don't waste your money. I've wasted my time." Who the fuck would want to play it then? He is trying to peak our interests in teasers whilst he/they still work on the game. Throw your toys out of the pram by all means. Just don't look so fucking stupid whilst you do it. -

Phahahaha. Impatient after only one year? You must be hurting bad! It takes teams of people over 4 years to make an 8 hour single player game, and you're whining because it's taken them a year to make a 255KM squared map, thousands of items, weapons, sounds, environments, heavily tweak an engine, plan new features and implement them and make a server to client protocol that allows optimised performance. BUT they have the cheek to not release it to alpha yet? My heart bleeds for you. It really does. Uhhhh.... You claim you follow the progress, yet you say this idiotic piece? The zombie AI they were working on (which they thought would be sufficient) just doesn't work how they would like/had planned it to. They had pathing errors left and right, they had bad performances from the Zombies, they had glitchy AI any way you look at it. So they plan on scrapping their current work which puts them back at - surprise surprise - 0% whilst they propose and impliment a new line of Zombie AI. You really are a negative Nancy aren't you? -

He's not said the game will be in alpha soon. It's just he is finishing something up. Perhaps the Network bubble or maybe a devblog. But he never said it would be the game release. -

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ :emptycan: I can't hear you.... you're breaking up. -
You don't put it in your bag, it goes into the holding slow when you pick it up. When you pick up a melee weapon like a Hatchet you right click it from your toolbelt and click move to back, then you can switch between the two.
Honestly my FPS seems to be doing better since 1.8 hit. Even with the loot in abundance.
That was a paragraph. A paragraph doesn't comprise of one or two long sentences. A paragraph is several sentences which are related to a topic. Broken up by a topic change or character speech in novels. However making breaks in the text on this forum is nicer on the eye, what with the aesthetics of this website. -
You are not a part of the DayZ development team and therefore have no right saying when the Alpha should have been released. You can however say "I think the alpha should have been released long ago". -
Each COD takes 2 years to make. 2 developers alternating the years of release. -
Where's your bridge, troll? -
I agree, but I wouldn't say it's childish, more cartoony. I personally don't mind the fade in the sound and sight icons. Though I'd perfer - if it were possible to do - something like Skyrim where the eye is shut if you are of low visability and is open if you are easily seen. Something like that anyway.
Not from my experience. I had spawned in Cap Galova, and within 10 minutes I had got into Elektro, got an M1911, a Winchwester with 4 mags, an Alice pack, a map, a watch, a hunting knife and LOTS of food and drink. I made my way up to the Power station Firehouse and saw 2 people being chased by 12-15 zombies, one had no gun the other had an M4. So I said in voice chat "I'm shooting the zombies, not you!" Shot 7 of the zombies and most of the rest gave up and walked off. After saving them I started running off and the guy with the M4 opened up on me firing 15 bullets. I know they understood English because I chewed him out and he said sorry. I've noticed you can't transfer melee weapons from your belt straight to your carry slot, just says you don't have the room in the inventory. So I dropped the axe by accident whilst trying to make room and the axe got stuck in the ground and became untargetable to pick it back up. Just a small thing I've noticed.
If we get a ham sandwich with no bread, I can still masturbate with the ham. Just sayin'. -
Yeah, about a year ago myself and 3 friends would often do loot loops from Elektro to Berezino and everywhere inbetween. 2 over watches with snipers/binocs and 2 on the ground. We did this for 4 weeks solid each day for at least 3 hours. We only ever got in 2 fights in Berezino in that time.
