Well you're proposing a picture every 2 days. There's only so many pictures of a wooded area that would suffice before people bitch and moan for "MAOR PICTERS!" They'd then either stop doing it, in which case people like Nicefish would go on multiple rambling posts about how Dean and his team are shit and all this other bollocks. Or they will post pictures of new villages, new buildings in the villages, new zombie models, new weapons, new everything. I for one think this is a fucking stupid idea to ask for a picture every 2 days. Shit would get old REALLY fast, and I don't know about you, but I'd absolutely love to you know.... be surprised by a game that I buy. I like it when some things are in a game that I didn't know about. I fucking despise games/films that show everything interesting in the advertisements or the pre launch photos.

A pic every day would be boring and potentially spoil the layout of new areas or revamped areas. Most of their work is on the programming side so you can't post pictures of that. (Well... You can, but only 0.01% of the community will understand it)

To add to the authenticity of trolloping through cities and such? Having extra assets in your game can't hurt.
-
That's just versions of the dev build being uploaded to the steam servers.

You can't avoid problems for ever. You can only drink to forget them.
-
The point is you will need the melee weapons to dispatch of the zombies easily and without great cost. You can use the bullets (if needs be) on humans. That's if your threat to shoot them if they don't let you cuff them fails.
-
Then you don't get the idea behind DayZ STANDALONE!

Baww, You removed my joke about paedophilia. :(

Dean changes his mind every 10 seconds and Nicefish has a memory of 10 seconds.

I'm blinded by patients and knowledge that unforeseeable shit often happens.

I constantly make the mistake of reading your comments and hoping you have something positive to say. Guess your morbidity far out weighs my optimism, huh?

This place goes nuts what ever happens.

Scientists can dabble with the seed of an apple tree and genetically engineer it into a different species of apple tree. Programmers can take an engine, dabble with it and turn it into another engine. What's so hard to get? They're working with something that already exists, but changing it adequately enough that the end product is far different from what they started with.

What? No Asians? I see how it is.

Whoa whoa whoa.... Who DOESN'T worship the queen? I mean, c'mon now!

All hail the Lizard People!!

Do you not know that in Dev-build state Minecraft, you couldn't dig or build? You could only run through a pre-loaded cave to reach the bottom. http://www.youtube.com/embed/F9t3FREAZ-k My point is DayZ is currently Pre-Alpha. Which is why the Zombies don't work, the server architecture isn't complete, there's mechanics not implemented. There's no point debating about there being no zombies for Alpha release because other than one passing comment Dean made (to show how eager he is to release the game already) there's been no other mention of it. Worst case scenario Dean will implement the old terrible zombies for an alpha release whilst the new ones are worked on.

There is a DayZ without Zombies. It's called Wasteland, and it seems pretty popular.

And don't render buildings until you are 100 feet away from them pl0x.

But what's to stop the 100+ people dropping a handful of items each in their little 'building bases'? For instance, one of the little shack things in the Elektro industrial section, someone could drop 10 items in there and hope nobody finds them. The server would then have to track those 10 extra items, make a note of their co-ordinates, make sure they're the same quality as when dropped and it they get damaged swap the skin and contextual text on the items(and maybe the loot inside the items). It would be easier to track them if they were in stashes in a segregated part of the server protocols. -

I'd imagine they'd despawn after a set amount of time like 10 minutes, just to leave no burden on the servers. -

Triviality is in the eye of the beholder. (To twist an old saying) I find Football (soccer) to be trivial, but millions of people are fanatic about it. -

It essentially is from scratch. Apart from two things: they've had to heavily modify an existing engine to fit their needs and wants and they have a map layout that is pretty much copied from the mod. However, they've done textures anew, sounds anew, animations anew, items anew, server side to client side conversing anew, character skeletons anew, models anew. They WILL do zombies AI anew too. COD generally does all of this too with two/three teams working on each aspect of the game. (ie Singleplayer, Multiplayer and zombies/spec ops) Now, where the differences lie are here. COD has a 6-8 hour campaign per year and the multiplayer launches with something like 8 maps, 30 weapons, 30 perks, 30 kill streaks. It's not as complicated as making a functioning 255 Squared KM map, literally thousands of items be it clothes, food, junk, weapons, ammo, medical, armour (and cars/car related items down the road(pun not intended)). COD in comparison to what we've been promised from DayZ is just nothing. It's like the difference between a megabyte and a gigabyte. Sure they make their COD instalments quite quickly, but that's because they're whipped by Activision to release their biggest cash cow anally, and incomplete, what with every COD since MW2 charging £15 for 4 multiplayer maps throughout the year. (For PC anyway.)
