And should I used my old RAM or buy new ones? edit: This is the final conclusion. http://imgur.com/5CSd6wb I'll see all of you soon! At least after I save up some extra cash to put toward this project. :) Thank you all for helping me. I learned a lot from you guys just on the forums! Congrats on converting a console gamer to a pc one. ;) Cheers

Okay good deal. Is there anything else I need to start building it? I have my old hard drive so I'm going to use that.

Both have to be AMD?

http://imgur.com/nO0m6Db Would this set up work and be compatible with everything and would it be able to run games like DayZ smoothly on high graphics? If not tell me what I should get instead.

Well it's not a burnt out power cord. It's the box that the power cord plugs into. I think the only thing worth salvaging will be my hardrive. Everything else is outdated. I just don't know where to go from now to build a good rig.

I cannot believe the amount of help I've gotten from all of you guys. Goes to show how awesome this community this is. Props to all of you! Added. Seeing this Alienware computer all mangled kind of get's me worried about putting on together myself but I think it should be fine. Just need a little help! Yeah I know :\ Better to start with something difficult and work through it!

Damn it, took things apart before I could get the chance to read this. Okay, what I found out from taking the things out and reading them was that I have a Nvidia 8400 GS graphics card and a Maxtor 21 (hard drive I'm assuming) that was bought in 2010... Where do I go from now to salvage things and what do I need to look for? edit: If anyone has Skype or something to help me decide what to do I'd really appreciate it.

Yeah the Alienware is sh!t. If anything I'll keep the LED lights inside of it and buy everything else and start from scratch. :D I'll see if I can't fix it or something later this evening. Thanks guys!

The alienware is most likely from 2008-2010. I'm pretty sure that it's really outdated. I just want to run DayZ on high settings with no lag.

Oh no, I know how to download stuff and install mods to the original game. I'll buy the complete collection when I figure out what I'm going to do with the PC situation. Thank you though!
