Do you remember the first time you played Dayz?
RyanTH replied to Agent36's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
My first time playing DayZ (A month ago YES I AM A NEWBIE) pretty much went like this: "Oh, that Franky guy survived 'till episode 30+ this game will be fun!" "Are you friendly?" "Yes, yes I am!" "ARE YOU MOTHERFUCKING FRIENDLY?!" "YES YES! DON'T SHOOT! D:" *BAM* *RESPAWNED* *INSTANTLY LOVED DAYZ* -
You know you are playing too much DayZ when...
RyanTH replied to TRW's topic in New Player Discussion
- When you start walking cautiously around your house, hoping zombies won't hear you. - When you see smoke or lights at night you try and get an M16 out of your "Backpack" -
The infection ratio does need a lot of work... as surviving can be a hassle for newly spawned players, but honestly, why nerf the damage? It's fine as is. I think one thing that's (Thank god!) being worked on the most for the SA is hitboxes. DayZ's hitboxes are atrocious, and so is the AI. Maybe lower the infection rate a little, or make it so that zombies that can infect look a bit more... . rabid? ( I think they're called viral zombies) Maybe torn clothing, more vicious growling, and that would help. I only sprint when I'm leaving a city, or in an area with no zeds, like on the roads far north. Shufflin' will save your life.

All of my yes. It just doesn't make sense when you're walking on grass, and you're near invisible, but when you take one step on a road, it's the equivalent of a DMR going off. I think the visibility thing is viable, because when you're on a road, there's no grass covering you or camo'ing you. :beans:

Do you hide bodies you come across?
RyanTH replied to Owain1122's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I hide the bodies of fallen comrades. Whilst saluting. -
Maybe you can use them to play with zombies like they're cats. :P That'd actually be pretty sweet, getting the Zombie 1 skin for your profile, go to server, and start shining the laser pointers at everyones face whilst screaming "FEAST ON THE NON-BELIEVER, MY MINIONS!" I think that would be cool, hard to aim, but as a last resort, it could work out pretty well! :beans:

I have a new story! This happened like an hour ago. So, I was walking down the road, going to Cherno. I had my hatchet ready, just incase any zombies aggro'd on me. I sliced a few zombies with the axe and ran into a small barn. As I was eating food and checking for supplies, I heard footsteps. I quickly scavenged a DB shotgun with some slugs, I was ready to take down a fellow survivor if I had to. As soon as he entered, he fired an M1911 at me. It ALMOST hit me, but I was quick. BAM, right between the eyes, I took him down. As I was looting his corpse I noticed a big lump near where I was crouching, and then I found out what happened. He actually saved me from a zombie. He wasn't firing AT me, just near me to take down a zed. Again... DAMN REFLEXES. >:(

From my (Sadly short) experience with DayZ, I've come across a great tip that's saved me from more thing then I can imagine. So let's say you have a hatchet, and you find a winchester with 2 16 RND slug clips. That's great and all, but guns are VERRRRYYY loud. So what do you do? Simple, put the gun in your backpack. People are more bound to shoot players with a winchester on their back instead of a hatchet. And zombies love loud noises. Now, if you are up north, just put the gun in your primary slot. But if you are down in the coast, in, let's say Cherno, put the gun in your pack. I know what you guys are thinking. "But melee weapons are weak as shit," Yes they are, due to the fact that they sometimes don't want to cooperate, but if you aggro a zombie, then start crouch-walking backwards while swinging at him, 70% of the time you'll come out unscaved, perfectly fine. I've once had a conga-line of zombies chasing me, so I went to a field, started crouch-walking backwards, and SWINGING AWAY LIKE THERE'S NO TOMORROW. I had 12K blood when this started, and when it ended, came out with 11.8K blood. S key does wonders.

RyanTH started following DayZ crazy moments?

Ever had some crazy moments in DayZ? I've had a few. If you want, post about your stories! :) STORY 1: I had just freshly spawned in Cherno, I believe. After looting some buildings, finding some gun ammo, food, and equipment. I started walking from town to town. At this point of the game, I had a Winchester, 5 slugs, and a revolver with 1 clip, and a bunch of food and drinks. Feeling great, I stepped into a small house, and that's when the story went downhill. As I was looting the place, I heard gunshots, and the chat was filling with people dying. "Player was killed" "Player was killed" "Player was killed" So... freaking out I decided to head out of the building and run for dear life. Then i started hearing different gunshots, like a revolver or makarov going off. "Player was killed" And then another player died, but I heard no gunshots. Most likely from zombies or blood loss. So, now that everything settled I guess I'll head no- OH DEAR GOD EVERYONE IS DEAD. The place was a deathmatch. Corpses everywhere. So, since the firefight has stopped, I decided to loot some bodies. (Which is a dumb idea I know, but hey, I'm all kinds of dumb!) Most of them were fresh spawners. I found a DMR, 2 mags, a glock with 3 mags, some bandages, food, drinks, and even grenades! And a ghillie suit! My oh my beans of all sorts! Peaches, Sardines, Cooked Meat! Oh man oh man! So, once I grabbed the loot I continued going north. I was later then confronted by some pretty nasty bandits. Didn't live to see the day I got to the airfield, sad to say. :( STORY 2: One day, I was down near Balota, looting buildings, gunning down zombies with an M4, when I heard a CLING noise. As soon as I saw bullet impact, I knew I was being shot at. I jumped for cover in a nearby fence, and started firing back. Not only was it one bandit, it was 3. I shot one in the chest, knocked him out, and another I shot in the arm. Since I was pretty low on ammo (About 4 bullets left.) I decided to retreat. But how? They most likely had cars! As I was running and pleading for mercy in chat, I found a bike. This bike was my last hope in survival at this point. I jumped off and rode off, trying to zig-zag as much as possible. I eventually got away from them, and lived for about an hour longer. They did get a few good shots on me, I eventually was knocked unconscious by a zombie, followed by becoming dinner. <_< STORY 3: Once I was walking down to the Balota Airfield to get some nice loot. I had nothing but a little food and a revolver. As I was walking down the road, I heard gunshots, from a Glock. Knowing that this guy could either be friendly OR a bloodthirsty bandit, looking for innocent people to gun down, I started taking cover at the fire station. As I was sorting my inventory, I found an M4A1 with some magazines! So, I took the gun and decided to scout out the area on the firehouse roof. This is when I heard the suspect. "Friendly?" he said. I replied with yes, and he came up on to the roof. While I was checking for zombies in first-person, he jumped off of something ( I don't know) and landed right IN FRONT OF ME. This scared me so much, I thought a zombie glitched through the wall! So, my first instinct was to shoot. So I shot once in the head as soon as he landed. "Player was killed" Crap. I just killed another player completely on accident. Damn reflexes. >:( Anyways, share yo' stories! I'd be glad to give ya some :beans: !

Hi there! I'm a new player that enjoys DayZ a lot, and I just wanted to ask a question or two. So, DayZ is balls-to-the-wall hard, but that's what makes it great! Now, the main problem I am having is with zombies. I don't want a nerf on the zombies, just a way to avoid being lunch for the zombies. The server I play on makes you spawn with a Revolver and a melee weapon. So, I can easily slice zombies with my melee weapon, that's great and all, but they usually take a few hits to take down a single ghoul, which gives them enough time to hit you 2-3 times, due to the hitboxes. All I want to know is how to avoid zombies, I know how to crouch-walk, I just need a way to easily get past zombies without shuffling on the ground... any tips? Also, I only use the revolver as a last resort.

Ryan is my first name, T is the initial for my middle name, and H is the initial for my last name. The first time I used this name was when I created an account on Minecraft about a week before beta 1.3 came out. :D
