The loot system right now should be the number 1 priority to be fixed in this game as it's ruining the entire integrity of what DayZ is meant to be. Never have I been so un-immersed in this game, even coming from the early stages of DayZ Mod myself. Why are there so many hunting pants for example in a school, and even if I were to find one pair there which still is weird, I'm finding like 15 pairs? I even found the rare m65 jacket in some random house which is the best jacket in the game. The coasts right now are a bloodbath reminiscent of something braindead like COD and there is zero incentive to travel north because military loot isn't even spawning in the correct military areas. And prison island? It's like a TTSKO jacket shopping ground. It's like someone just took every item on the map and scattered them around without putting any thought in it whatsoever in random areas and then multiplied them by 15 for no reason. The loot makes NO sense in this update and the only reason I am bringing it up is because it's absolutely ridiculous that I haven't seen this listed as a 'known issue.' on any devlog. Why is there so many damn clothes in nonsensicle places and why are the guardhouses spawning a ridiculous amount of military loot right amidst big coastal cities like Electro? There is no satisfaction anymore to finding a good gun because they're everywhere ; and don't even get me started on the police stations. Actually to sum this rant up. The loot makes no sense anywhere across the entire board of the game and is utterly destroying DayZ for people who actually have a brain and aren't interested in mindless 24/7 PVP in coastal cities. Can someone clarify and will this be fixed soon? Also FPS drops ; FPS drops like crazy.

You guys reiterate articles that have paraphrased comments from Rocket, he already explained the difference between an anticipated review date and a release date; he never said it'd be released at a certain date. Either way, as much time as it takes is what I'm happy with; I'd rather have a non-buggy, joyful and absolutely immersive DayZ game opposed to something that was rushed. Oddly enough the longer it takes, the more comfortable I seem to feel that it will be a complete, great game when it's actually released.

How do you perform your acts of banditry?
BookBurning replied to Skypill's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Befriend if they aren't hostile on site yet potentially dangerous. Play with them for a small while, their support allows you to be safer and achieve whatever goal you're trying to achieve [i.E.] Looting the NW Airfield, it's safer in a team than it is alone. Lead them somewhere and when their backs are turned shoot them in the head, I find barns to be a really easy way to do this as you can tell them to check the other side while you're behind them. I've killed a group of up to 4 people that had accumulated with me doing this, it was quite the ride. (I'm also creepy and play as a female bandit with a voice alterer that changes my voice to sound like a females. Generally the all male DayZ community tends to relax around girls more than guys and with the voice morpher, they can't tell the difference.) -
Why do peoples actions need to dictate their appearance?
BookBurning replied to GBTP's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
General interactions with a player is enough even in a virtual world to slowly let the other person decide whether or not they're hanging out with a trustworthy person; elegant or not isn't an issue, what's an issue is the fact that it reveals possible intentions with little more than a glance at the person. You don't need to get to know the person in the slightest, you don't need to see how they behave around survivors, other loot, the loot of other survivors etc because they are automatically stamped with a skin and it makes it shallow. You don't need subtlety in facial expression etc to decide whether or not to trust someone in DayZ, all you need to do is run into another person with them to see how they react; do they shoot them on site? Make a comment about potential loot gain? Are they constantly sticking behind you to get a weird angle to possibly kill you? Things like these are apparent in DayZ whether or not you realize it, the reason most people don't SEE things like this is because most bandits aren't bandits at all; they're COD players who just kill everyone on site. Every once in awhile though you come across an intelligent bandit who exploits trust as a weakness and for the love of God, these players shouldn't be branded with a giant tattoo that tells their possible intentions immediately. What DayZ needs is more clothing options and no forced clothing. -
More antiquated yet effective weapons.
BookBurning replied to BookBurning's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Agreed with both. The concept of old, effective rare and above weapons that have the potential to spawn out of military areas sounds nice, along with this I think there's potential to add variations on some of the older weapons as well. A scoped Lee Enfield that is a rare spawn, Scoped Mosin, things of that nature. (Both would make good sniper rifles, the Mosin has been used as such.) And as the SMG section is lacking in vanilla Dayz, we could add some in here as well. A PPD, things like that. I'm a sucker for old weapons and really my want comes down to wanting the option to use something from the past, yet something that is still a rare, good weapon. -
Since Chenarus is Russian in nature and Russia was part of the U.S.S.R of the past and hence supported China for quite some time. (Do you see what I'm getting at?) I think we have the option in standalone to release alot of cool weapons that are historically accurate to fit this 'area' so to say. But really... I just want a Mosin Nagant in the game, thanks. -Book.

2 accounts creates an error, can't run DayZ
BookBurning replied to BookBurning's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
I actually received the help I got on this forum and now have both of my accounts working fine. The fact that you equate having 2 accounts on DayZ to hacking though baffles me. Why does having 2 accounts equate to hacking in the most remote of senses? Tech support does not equate hacking. The only thing I feel like hacking right now is your johnson off and shoving it in your mouth so you'd stop making weird brainless comments about 'suspicious activity.' Do you wear tin foil hats? -
2 accounts creates an error, can't run DayZ
BookBurning replied to BookBurning's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Yeah because I'm so sure this has only happened to myself and I'm the only one in existence to own a 2nd account, oh and yeah this is totally something that doesn't have something to do with an error and is completely unfixable. You scored 67 percent on that zombie survival quiz, wonder what you'd score on an I.Q. one? And really? Why would I spend the money to buy a whole new computer when I don't have to, stop making yourself look like a huge idiot, you're embarrassing me and I don't even know you. Get out of my thread. -
2 accounts creates an error, can't run DayZ
BookBurning replied to BookBurning's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
The DayZ community is also really presumptuous and on the ready to call out "exploiter" and "hacker" more quickly than the Salem Witch Trials. Not that it's unwarranted as this community has been plagued by things in the past but really, what could I possibly be 'exploiting' by having two accounts? What if the account was so my brother could play DayZ on his steam account on the same pc? I'd still be having this error if that was the case so saying it's 'not meant for two accounts' is completely dumb to be as blunt as possible. Consumers can pay for whatever the hell they want, if I wanted 2 red Lamborghini's even though they're exactly the same I'm entitled to it, why? Because I spent the money. This glitch has more to do with Arma and nothing to do with DayZ and I was asking out of charity but if you want to come in here and argue semantics over what my product that I paid for is meant for and what it isn't, then go right ahead because you're already on your backfoot on this one buddy. Edit: And thank you for those that took the time to give me a valid response to my question [steak and Amber] it's much appreciated. -
2 accounts creates an error, can't run DayZ
BookBurning replied to BookBurning's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
That's great and all and something to consider but regardless this doesn't fix my problem; IE, I already spent the money and am looking for people who have any idea about this error so I can get my moneys worth, not people asking me why I need 2 accounts or telling me I don't need 2 accounts. The point is I have 2 accounts and am unable to use the other due to an error. -
2 accounts creates an error, can't run DayZ
BookBurning replied to BookBurning's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
So I can have a backup character, play on different servers, if one dies and I don't feel like regearing I have the other; there's been alot of times I wished I had two different characters so I went ahead and bought arma 2 CO on another steam account. Note: My main account works fine, it only seems to happen when I try to get on Dayz with my other account. -
Hey guys, I recently bought Arma 2 Combined Ops on a different steam account so I can have two characters in the game. However I ran into a problem when trying to do this and I basically get this error message whenever I attempt to play. "pmc\addons\air_pmc.pbo" - decryption of headers failed. I'm assuming it's because of having 2 cd keys on 2 different accounts on steam and it's somehow conflicting. Any input? Thanks!

I'll just leave this here since I might possibly still be and *was* just today, in the same boat as you. But. There is nothing you can do plain and simple besides possibly rebuying a new copy of ARMA OA and to be safe I'd completely wipe your windows off the face of the map and reinstall it before hand and then only reinstall arma on a new steam account after purchasing it. I know it sucks but honestly trying to find work arounds to problems that are flaky at best is frustrating and fruitless. The people here seem friendly enough so there's no point to rage at them per-say over your own problems with the game or rage about their responses when all they're doing is being honest; blunt maybe, but honest none the less.

Cd Key Error (Not talking about pirating/illegal activity.)
BookBurning replied to BookBurning's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Yeah that's pretty much what I was thinking; my thing is though is that I'm new, I've been waiting to play DayZ for what feels like years and am finally able to only 4 days ago since I finally built a computer; waiting for the SA is just too painful. :) I guess there's not much that can be done either way, I was just looking to see if this is a problem that some people have (It's not really a problem yet since the game runs fine.) That isn't related to theft of any sort to alleviate my mind. And I love books too! I've just had this ID for too long to change it haha. -
Cd Key Error (Not talking about pirating/illegal activity.)
BookBurning posted a topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
I won't go into detail because I'm sure most of you have guessed and I'm not much of a liar but anyways. I paid my price, rebought arma 2 AFTER reinstalling windows and I'm pretty sure I did a clean wipe to top it off, I didn't just do an upgrade. Anyways, when I play with my new steam account with my new Arma on what I think is a clean new installation of windows, I still get a registration failed: Invalid CD Key message as any server boots up. However, I am still perfectly able to play fine on these severs. Is this something I should be concerned about or is there another explanation because to be honest I'm quite worried that I may be out 60 dollars trying to fix this problem. (Considering the first time cost me 30 and like an idiot I rebought the entire thing again for 30.) Everything works fine but that error message haunts me and I have this terrible feeling that somehow my key is...In the wrong hands. I'm not a bad guy, I made a mistake so hopefully this won't lead to alot of flame or moderators simply locking my thread, I'm simply concerned because I really do love DayZ alot and want to just play the game without any problems. So, is this something I should be worried about? Any feedback is welcome, and thanks in advance.
