Make Death a Loss, Re: Tents, Inventory

How about.... whenever you die on a server, you can't go back to it for a few days? Or maybe until the server restarts? That would keep people from looting their own bodies.... I like your ideas. Beans for you sir P.S: i will quote you in my topic (http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/92213-punishment-on-death-suggestion/) because i think that would bring a good addition to it
  2. Rocket has already talked about probably taking that completly out and finding a way to make it obvious what is your health and physical state by acts and noises of your character, like getting slower, coffing, maybe even being pale? (i just pulled that out of my head)

    A brainstorm of DayZ Ideas

Im pretty sure msot of those are already being implemented (take a look at the very first topic in the suggestions area) I had not thought or read about interaction with objects, though. That instantly gave me the idea of putting a bunch of stuff from inside a house at the door so zombies couldn't get in! In the case that zombies DO run inside buildings, that would come in handy!

    Punishment on death suggestion

As I said before, I would like people to stop complaining and actually creating a discussion with their own suggestions. Also, as I said before, I'm trying to brainwash some ideas. Real solutions come out of discussions, not saying NO to people. Noobs don't spawn and die in 5 minutes, ever. People who want a better spawn location, they do die in 5 minutes. They go to the nearest town and kill themselves. Now raise that to 10-15-20 minutes. Would a noob die in that time? I don't think so.... Noobs are careful enough to live 20 minutes (just look at the average life), and for someone to wait 20 minutes jsut to respawn.... I don't know you guys, but i would rather run 10 minutes and be where i want to be rather than wait 20 minutes and not be sure where i will spawn next, unless you are willing to take the consequences (which are really not that ridiculous...) Besides, would you really quit a game because it's a little hard? This is what dayz is about: learning to survive. This quote was from another topic, but i like the idea. Like he said in the very end, it could bring the fear of dying back again. What i suggested in his topic was to, once you die on a server, you cannot go back to it for a while (making it impossible for you to loot your own bodie), bringing back some of the fear

    Bikes should be extremely common

Not "extremelly" as in "makarov common", but more common for sure. They would solve the "running simulator" problem and at the asme time no give people much power to, for example, stash their things. A bike is simply a faster way to get from point A to B, nothing more. The only problem I see with it is people using it to run from zombies, which is already way too easy, and this would make it even easier. I would say.... give it a rarity of finding a DMR, maybe?

Why I play as a bandit and some analysis

OBS: In the war z, they are implementing skills (but havent specified how so far, as far as i know) and i think that could be good or bad. In the real world, people are what they are: Tall, short, fast, slow, medics, businessmen, mechanics, soldiers, etc etc etc. In a zombie apocalypse situation, each person would survive in their own way, but together they would survive even better. I see the point of your post, and agree to it at some point. However, i think that depends on where does rocket want to go: does he want everyone to have the same skills and possibilities? Or maybe have everyone playing in their own style and hopefully forming groups for a greater array of possiblities of what do do in the game, or simply survive more easily? The way the project is going, I would say the later. It would be great for the formation of groups, and it would not necessarily destroy the realism. As I said in the beggining of this post, people are what they are in the real life, and those skills would come in handy each in its own way. Good post! You have my beans
  7. Turning dead people into zombies sounds awesome. The mp3 player, however, shouldn't take your music from your computer, it should have it's own, and you should definitely need to find batteries (which will probably be implemented on the standalone). I guess ideas like the mp3 are details.... But the turning into zombie idea would be great.
  8. As you said, many of those ideas could be implemented in the standalone, and most of them already have a topic: http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/38742-suggestions-for-the-dayz-standalone-thinking-outside-of-the-limitations-of-an-arma-2-mod/ I do agree on most of them, though.

    Punishment on death suggestion

Keep in mind that this is not about putting a barrier for noobs. Noobs will be more careful, noobs won't keep respawning to get a better location because they don't know the better location. This is about putting a barrier on respawning and running like an idiot in a world of pure danger because you know that if you die you won't lose anything and will "revive" just like nothing happened to you. Dayz is all about learning to survive. Noobs would have the same problems about learning, I don't see that changing a lot to noobs. Would they care if their aim is not as steady? Would someone who is careful about where they go and how much noise they amke care if their full sprint doesn't work (which people take a while to learn how to use). I guess not

    Base Camp - Base Setup

I kinda like this kind of idea because it implements unique super rare itens, meaning more to do in the "end game", more options to play the game your own way.
  11. There is already the toolbox, just like kenny over there mentioned.... why add another tool when you already have it?
  12. Lewf

    Punishment on death suggestion

Some brainstorming ideas: Maybe those who died too quickly (for killing themselves or not being careful enough) could spawn with: -Spawn with less maximum blood (temporarily) -Less accuracy -Making more noise -Make their character slower -Less visibility -More prone to being incapacitated, especially by zombies -Faster bleeding All temporary of course

    Punishment on death suggestion

For all the people who disagree with my suggestion: I also think its not even close to being the ideal solution, adding a time was simply my first suggestion. I encourage everyone to try to find solutions to this problem. And to answer some of the comments people made: I also don't have much time to play, especially during the week. The point of this topic is to create a discussion and find a (possible?) solution to this problem and maybe rocket could implement it on both the mod and standalone (if he hasn't already done so) So, does anyone have any actual thoughts on solutions? I mean especially to the respawning "issue" which was nowhere near solved by simply taking out the respawn button EDIT: This is more of the kind of discussion I was looking for. With that problem in mind, how could we get that fear back, after you learned the game? Of course making zombies scarier and more of a threat is a great option, and maybe even making the loot more scarce (disconsidering the hack/duping which hopefully will decrease significantly soon) would help it, but for now, all we have is people running around to get that loot and not being afraid to die after a fresh spawn, which is just ridiculous considering a game that was supposed to be realistic. I remember when I first heard of the game, a friend told me about it and i went to youtube and started watching all of SideStarfe's videos, and I loved the feeling he gave by being super cautious around zombies and everyone. That was the feeling I was looking for in the game, and that is the feeling I would like to have back, and I believe many would too. So my (probably stupid) idea of adding some time was looking towards that goal, of the fear of dying so being extremely careful. I mean this trying to get away from the hacking/duping problem. I mean this mostly for freshspawns and for those (everyone, really) who kill themselves so they can have a better spawn. How can we introduce a way of maybe a second thought about running around cause you have no loot, or killing yourself for a better spawn location? This game has been losing its essence of perma death, and I would like to help get it back.

    Punishment on death suggestion

Maybe i did not express myself well enough.... I meant that people wouldn't go to the big towns to get easy gear with the fear of dying, and would go somewhere else isntead (small towns, other palces north?) Not the fear of simply respawning, for example. Not to mention people with bad gear, they are not afraid to die cause they would just spawn back and not lose much. People should be afraid to die in any circumstances. I would even say they should be afraid to die mostly in the beggining. People tend to be careless in the beggining because respawning is easy. They should be concearned in living longer.
  15. Good afternoon everyone! I was pretty bored playing dayz, I had everything i could ask for and even tried doing this banditry thing and killing people for fun, but it wasnt for me. So in one of the many times going from cherno to electro just killing time, someone came up to me witha bus and simply gave it to me. I felt inspired by that stranger's kindness, and decided to put that bus to good use. My plan was to stock up that bus with food, drinks, basic weapons (such as makarovs) and maybe even some compass and maps and drive on the coast to help new people or just fresh spawns get themselves together, and even drive them around. However, this is not such as easy job to do by yourself, and i would like to ask for some help from you guys! Help would be maybe some protection, of couse, and specially gathering things which is a lot of work for one man. So.... who's up?
  16. Lewf

    The Loot Bus

Well, server does not matter anymore because my bus disappeared =/ I play mostly at night and weekends all day pretty much I will post here again when i have another vehicle, unless one of you guys have one?
  17. Lewf

    Fun in Electro

Hahahahaha nice story.... I loved the ending. Some people just can't be nice
  18. There are some people who simply shouldn't be playing this game. They should be playing CoD instead. This game is not about killing others just for the fun of it. And i believe there is still hope. Unlike the guy up there that said 90% of the people KoS, i have met many many people of whom i passed by, said hi, and moved along. More than 50% I would say. Not to mention a guy who gave me a bus yesterday! So there is still hope!
  19. A map-poster would be really cool and useful, not to mention a ca of beans and of course a book with artwork that's being produced right at this moment

1.7.3 - Lets Wipe the Hive

I have already voluntarily "wiped" my character by destroying everything i had, because i was duping and that took all simply all of the fun of the game. I think the wipe would be awesome for everyone to have a chance against those vehicle hoarders, at least for some time, and for dupers who once got lucky finding a good gun and didn't have to fear losing it because it was duped. Not anymore. It'll be good to have the fear of losing your gear again. That's the point of the game. Otherwise, it'll just be a massive PVP game.

    Under 100K active players

Some people, like me, might have lost interest because of lack of things to do in the game.... not to mention hacker frustration, vehicle hoarding....
  22. No way! I dont even use it, but its part of the game being frustrated when you see a place locked and you dont have a toolbox
  23. I have a story that really pissed me off yesterday. This one guy in my clan robbed us all and just left. When me and my other friend from my clan were playing, this idiot (Bidin) tried to come from behind us and kill us, i was a newspawn so i had nothing, but my friend had a ghillie and an m4a3 on. He saw this idiot, shot him and even got to kill him, but before he actually oculd fall for his death and lose his body, what do you know? Alt+f4. So there we are, hearing flies (the stupid traitor dead) but no damn body for us to get our gear back..... Its an alpha, i know. Now at least i have a purpose in this game again: find more gear
  24. Lewf

    Zombies way too hard now

Personally, i loved how zombies are so difficult to handle now. That should be the point of the game: surviving zombies. Specially with the bandit fear, it might bring my immersion back into the game

    Ghillie Suit Trade

Well, if you wanna trade, i'll be here. i play on US88, US311, US34
