Sometimes quick deaths will make the gamer want to keep playing instead of quit the game. Nice post!
-
It is pretty much like that already, if you download Dayz Commander. The standalone version will be much easier, so just wait for it....

Curiosity killed the cat? hahahaha

I guess playing at night is not a safe way to start hahaha... I don't really remember where i first spawned, but i quickly got the hang on how to avoid zombies. Back then we had weapons, so it was easier to survive. I would guess the problem nowadays for completly new people si to find a weapon or figure out how to use an axe, otherwise, there shouldn't be much problem of running away from zombies.
-
Is anyone else having this problem?
Lewf replied to kennstar72's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Dayz commander. It takes seconds to start the game (mostly cause of steam) and then when i clikc "OK" it varies from 1-10 minutes dependending on how many people in the server (1 minute for 5 people, 10 minutes or maybe even more for 30+ people) -
Really, whats the harm in a no PVP server?
Lewf replied to zombiefish's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I agree with you on that one. That is what made Dayz what it is today. However, i feel that aspect is fading away as people "master" the game (by hacking and duping - which hopefully will go away of course and bring back the good ol' feeling of fear of the unknown and unexpeted. Also, the fear of death. Perma death made dayz stand out. Now all you gotta do is go back to your tents or loot your dead body. that kills the game) -
Agree with you. However, respawning is way too easy, and I'm a fan of putting a real barrier to that (other than simply taking out the respawn button) Finding a map is way too easy. What i believe rocket wants is people to spawn at random, being disoriented, scared of the unknown..... What he hasnt solved, though, is the respawning problem.

Just like unnoficial servers? Yeah... -
So many ideas! Great ones, I pretty much agree with all of them. -Those blodo stations should make you vulnerable and take a while to complete -Many of them have already been confirmed, if you look at the first topic in the suggestions section or the reddit Q&A topic in the general section

What it seems like to me (and is definitely true for me), everyone lost the fear of death that, among many things, made this game so good. Right now most people learned how to get good gear (which was increased by hack and duping) and don't even care if they die, or even tif they don't have a stash waiting for them, they simply get new stuff quickly (my case). So, to increase the difficulty and fear of death, I propose a punishment. Not only would this punishment increase the fear of death, but it would stop "respawning" (disabling respawn was trully useless since you can just kill yourself). It was hard for me to think how to punish people. The first thing that came to mind was simply add a time to wait to play again with your character once you died. A time that would decrease the longer you lived. Let's say you just spawned and you don't like your location, so you kill yourself. Great, here's an hour of waiting for being such an asshole (yes, i do that myself, so i'm calling myself an asshole). This game shouldn't be all about PVP. This game should be about surviving, about fear (especially about dying), scarcity and allocation of scarce resources, just like real life. I know many people won't agree with me, but that is only becasue they are too afraid to be punished and not be able to be killing new players out there. That brings me to one of the problems with my "solution". Those damn bandit snipers out there simply kill people in major cities, right? Well, i say thats a good thing! People would start thinking out of the box and going beyond their comfort zone (a.k.a Elektro and Cherno) to find some good gear. They would have to run away from those damn bandit snipers so they wouldnt be punished for dying. If anything, it would increase their stealth so they would live longer. And last but definitely not least, those snipers would maybe leave the big sniping points since people wouldn't be willing to risk their lives anymore for some quick gear. And then, there would be balance in the force. EDIT: For those who are too lazy to read the whole topic, i'm not necessarily proposing the solution I said in this post. I am proposing to discuss and find a solution to this problem. So please, read the whole topic before criticizing my idea.

I don't see why being temporarily banned froma server after you die would hurt newbies.... I mean yes, they would have to change servers, but what's the big deal? Like if there aren't that many servers around... 5100 as far as commander goes EDIT: Also, a good solution for the noob problem, at least on paper, would be to have servers especifically for noobs. Maybe a separet hive? (If that is even possible) With certain standards such as total time played (Again, if it is possible to register) and things like that. Maybe servers without big weapons such as snipers, etc? A place where noobs could learn. Basically what i mean is increase the difference between recruit and veteran servers, make them very distinct: boring for who knows how to play the game well (no big weapons, helis, etc) and with, who knows, some of my proposed changes in the veteran?

What I meant is: Loot Factories already exist. What our friend up there suggested is not something that would create these "Loot Facories" you talked about. Therefore, it would be of no harm. It is always nice to be able to hop from friendly server to friendly server without losing your stuff. Also, we are talking about a trully friendly server where PVP is disabled, not "unincouraged" (you got my point) -
Agreed with you. Zombies spawning points should be different, if what is proposed in the 1st post fo this topic is implemented. However, it has already been said it will change, especially in the standalone, as zombies (or maybe even animals?) will spawn in the forst between cities, etc. Actually, one of the things I like about Lingor Island is that the cities are so close together that there are always zombies somewhere near you.

Absolutely no harm. Agreed 100% -
That goes completly against the zombie apocalypse survival setting..... Go play battefield isntead, i guess.... Maybe second life?
-
Toolbox is a great tool cause its very general, so i would say yes....

1- They should keep spawning. If you want to create your base, go somewhere far from where zombies are. Find a good hiding spot. 2- I do agree zombies should not be aggroed directly to you, but zombies should definitely be attracted to your direction, even from farther away. Not necessarily directly to you, but in your general direction

See? That's the kind of helpful post I'm looking for. I'm with you on that idea! Read the whole topic before posting.

Tip: run. They won't get you. Find a big uilding and lose them in it.

Very nice! Good luck, if you want a tour or just some company, i'll be glad to help

Some people just aren't made for this game, i guess... Survival of the fittest
-
Breaking down those barricades would be a must, of course, with certain time. Including zombies themselves could bring those down. That would be a desperate measure. And barricading yourself too long inside a building would cause you to die of hunger or thirst, becasue the loot in that building wouldnt be respawning
-
I would add something: These features would also add to the group experience, as you would definitely not be able to survive well enough without someone there to help you out (other than just using blood bags, groups would be much more important)

Or maybe trying to find a key around to open that specific house? That would be nice... Also talking about keys, what about a key for your car?
