The Official Unofficial Bandit Removal Petition
oilman replied to The Killing Joke's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
@Nitrous: Don't be fearful of casuals, Rocket has made his intentions clear. He's not ever going to be catering to them. That does not, however, mean it is alright to dismiss every opinion you see as being not 'hardcore' enough. If I had my way, the first change I'd make to Arma II would be a truly realistic aeroplane and helicopter simulation, but I accept that some degree of realism needs to be sacrificed for the overall experience. TL;DR: Arguing is fine, dismissing / name-calling is not. If someone makes a post that is clearly made just to rile you up, don't fall for it, just report it. (That being said, don't report someone if they just insult you a little. :p) -
The Official Unofficial Bandit Removal Petition
oilman replied to The Killing Joke's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
This thread should by all means just be locked since it's the 50th time we've had it and it doesn't seem to be getting anywhere (yet again), but, I'm in hospital after getting my wisdom teeth out and on my phone's internet explorer, and can't seem to get the fucking lock thread function to work. Consider yourself lucky in that regard. All I'll say is, tone down the ad hominems. Words like 'carebear' don't make your points any stronger. -
Not one yet. But soon, I feel... I can only take so many survivors taking advantage of my friendly nature.

3rd Person View, why I support it, and why it should stay in game
oilman replied to tearran's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
This thread is becoming pretty unruly. Please remember: There's no problem with tame insults, but have some actual substance in your posts as well and keep the personal attacks to a minimum. You've been warned, gents. -
The #1 mayor is back in town !

Consider me confused. -
Do you in any way regret this mods sudden rise of popularity?

Nono! Not at all, sorry if you saw it that way. -

Knights of the Apocalypse Australian Clan
oilman replied to Dilson's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Can fully vouch for this clan. I've seen them in action, and they were great. If I wasn't such a fan of czinnawoods, I'd join in a second. :) -

Moved to Survivor HQ: I think that's the correct spot for this. (Any other mod who disagrees is free to move it back to general. :)) More on topic: I once had a bandit tell me on side chat, "hey albert you fag i see you at the airfield, you're fuckin dead". At first I was shit scared. I'd just gotten myself an AK74 Kobra and I wasn't planning on losing it any time soon. But, it turned out this bandit wasn't too smart, as he then asked, "where'd you go fag are you hiding?" So, I replied, "Yeah, I'm in the air control tower, come get me." And as expected, he started walking towards the tower... completely blind to the fact that I was on the roof of the neighbouring station. I waited a while, just to toy with him, as I watched him explore the building, and then come out onto the top of the tower. As soon as I did, I told him: "I see you at the airfield. You're fucking dead." And sure enough, after a few rounds from my AK, he was. There's nothing more satisfying than slaying some bandit scum. -

No, not at all, and I have never felt that way about any game. More people enjoying the game just means more people for me to enjoy it with! Funnily enough, the majority of jerks on servers are ones I recognise from release. New players might be bad, they might be slow to learn, but they're generally nice and easy going. It also makes me laugh when I see players who've never played Arma II before act elitist for playing a mod for a month. ;) -
Lucky bastards! :D At least it sounds like you have some kind of code of honor. There's nothing more I hate than a few guys lucky enough to get a chopper working and then making sure noone else gets the chance. :p

Posting in a thread that exists instead of making a new one is not a bad thing. I wish users of this forum would realise this, would mean we wouldn't have to keep merging threads. :p On the topic of the game, I would never raise gamma or brightness myself, and I am sure I have had plenty of deaths due to others doing so. But, such is life, and it's one of those things that will never be able to be changed. I will keep right on playing, and suggest others do the same.

I've always preferred my AK74 + Kobra, since the draw distance limit means long-range sniping usually isn't an issue.
-
Let's also remember that the suggestions, bug reports and Survival HQ sections exist for a reason.

I think when people realise that the general discussion forum is for general discussion we will probably be alright.

I don't think dancing has a place in this game. I don't think dancing has a place in pretty much any game, with the exception of games specifically about dancing.

There's a sticky thread that has a video showing everything you need, please check the stickies before posting a thread. http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=408 And to answer your questions: 1. Yes 2. No, but it helps if you ever decide to use other mods 3. Yes, that should work fine. Thread closed.

Merged the 'do you get scared' and 'scary moments' threads together. :) More on topic, hell yes I get scared all the time, but in a very different way than most, I believe. I'm fine during the night, even in Chern or in the forest. But during the day, when you're overlooking a huge open field, and you can see Zeds everywhere along it... That's just fucking creepy. It really makes the whole 'zombie apocalypse' hit home.

Auto kicking on US servers and ny servers
oilman replied to aceshooter11's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Moved to Servers subforum. Can you be more detailed about what happens? Is there anything that comes up when you are kicked? -
A few hackers have given themselves armed jets, that could be what you saw. But, regardless, this shouldn't be happening. :p

Istirkal, I don't need them myself, but thankyou for doing so. :)

Roaming zombies - Is it possible?
oilman replied to survivalist's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
If we need an excuse for Zombies in the middle of nowhere, I've always thought those 'dead body pits' often found near military stations would be some good spawn points, and could be easily placed in random locations in the woods and in fields. -
Why all the suggestions about adding rules and directions?
oilman replied to Lady Kyrah's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Oh, I am aware and grateful for that. But that's the suggestions section, not here. ;) -
Low zombie count/low loot across servers
oilman replied to Mezzanine's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Will probably be resolved after the weekend. Rocket has said he's not patching over weekends, after all, the man does have a life outside of DayZ (I assume!). -
Jinzo, if you were banned simply for calling someone out on cheating, inform one of the DayZ devs with a screenshot. (If we're talking about Tonic, then proving this shouldn't be difficult. He's proudly and publicly proclaimed his exploiting on the forums.) It's been stated again and again that the 'I pay for the server' defense simply isn't good enough, and those people will not be tolerated running servers.
