  1. You shouldn't listen to those forum whiners - it just makes you more likely to become one yourself.

Well then. Time to get lootin'.

I sure haven't, and I've been exploring industrial areas.

    DayZ Update 1.5.4

Well, if this is what you make when you're creating something that's NOT intended to be enjoyable, I eagerly await the future :D

Rocket, would you just need the scrap metal to make a tank trap? Or would you need a toolkit / Engineer pack?
  6. Oh wow. In that case, I guess I'm a lucky bastard too. :D

    We need a purpose.

I've found that random strangers team up all the time. I've had a group of 19 players simply meet in Cherno and go Zed hunting together, and I've never played a game where I didn't pass a friendly and decide to go with him.
  8. Oh man! You lucky bastard. BUT, it is possible that they spawned in there! When I went to green mountain, I found a 4wd with similar loot, that had clearly not been used. (Completely broken down, no nearby dead bodies, and in a spot that would seem it natural to spawn in.) Now whenever I see a military vehicle, even if I have no intention of driving the damn thing, I check it just to make sure it's not a treasure chest with wheels!

    [GUIDE] Newbie Survivor version 1.2.0.

A brilliant guide. Linked to a friend who had never played Arma2, let alone Dayz, and he managed to play very well on his first life. Also, here's an image I made for him that'll probably be very useful to new players - maybe to the point it's a bit 'cheap'. It's a shrunk-down image of the HQ Hiking Map of Chenarus, with Hospitals, Churches, Chimneys, Gasstops, etc. marked.

    DayZ Update 1.5.4

Definitely a graphical glitch with some item. I haven't gotten close enough to the mess of polygons to tell which item. Apart from that, I'm not having any problems with this patch at all. :D
  11. Woah, calm down. One thing a sniper always has to take into consideration is the weather and visibility conditions. In foggy weather, expecting to be able to see great distances is not a good idea. (Admittedly, you would probably be able to see further than .5k, but, it's still a valid point.) What's more, close-combat IS a skill, just as long range combat is. It might not be how you like to play - it certainly isn't how I like to play, give me a scoped nagant any day - but it's as valid as anything else.

    We need a purpose.

I think that sort of system is quite nice. Perhaps the 'secret lab' idea is a bit much, but a well-guarded (By zombies - a non-undead military presence would be a bit odd) military cache that lies underground with unique loot found nowhere else is a great idea. That being said: It's an idea for much further down the track, and as well as that, it's an idea that would be better kept a secret when implemented. ;)

    entrenching tool

And yet the helicopter and vehicle system is entirely unrealistic, along with the movement system, and the medical system. I don't hear any complaints that seriously injured limbs cannot be repaired properly without weeks of therapy. Really, the idea that playing a game that is more 'casual' than another is some kind of crime is absurd, because there are always games out there that are more 'hardcore' than the ones you enjoy. I have been playing this series since Operation Flashpoint, and absolutely adore it, but I still play Peggle every now and then.

    We need a purpose.

One of the best things about DayZ is that you can make a purpose for yourself. For example, merely getting my hands on a helicopter has been my purpose for today, while yesterday my purpose was to find a set of NVG's.
  15. Actually, one of the major reasons for the fault in the economy was listening to only the 'veteran' economists, who all happened to be of the Keynesian school, instead of taking in opinions from less regarded economists, ie. Austrian schoolers. This situation can be applied to here, too: While I think it's fair to say some opinions are simply reactionary and can be discarded ('WTF I GOT SHOT BY BANDIT 0/10 SHITTY GAME WOULD NOT PLAY UNLESS I HAVE INFINITE HEALTH'), disregarding any dissenting opinions as 'casual' is the sort of thing that WILL lead to stagnation in a mod.

ThatNiceGuy: You've said the same thing in three seperate threads. We get it. You don't like casuals. Neither do most of us. It's alright that not everyone knows everything about Arma II: Even you were a noob once.
