    [1.7.2] DayZ loot cheat sheet

Actually, inland towns are perfect for going to on the way to the northern areas for supplies. You don't go there to get military gear, you go there ON THE WAY to get military gear.

    [1.7.2] DayZ loot cheat sheet

So, again, you had to EXPLORE? I really don't understand how increasing loot values changes anything for the better!

    [1.7.2] DayZ loot cheat sheet

How would changing loot values fix this? If anything, making military loot more abundant would EXACERBATE the issue. There would be even LESS incentive to trek anywhere, you could just step into Kamenka and find a good rifle.

    We need a purpose.

Notes are a good idea - not missions, but small scraps of info about otherwise inaccessable loot. An example of this system implemented well are the Stashes in the STALKER series.

    [1.7.2] DayZ loot cheat sheet

How is only one airfield truly interesting? They ALL have the same spawns. My point about deer stands is that they're all over the place. That means you have a chance of finding loot just about anywhere. And if you didn't notice, the stations are smack bang inside Elektro and Cherno: The two most heavily populated areas on the map.

    DayZ Update 1.5.4

The point in having it is to test it and debug the code until it works. This is an alpha. This is what you 'signed on' for.

    [1.7.2] DayZ loot cheat sheet

Actually, there are loads of places for 'nice shit'. There are three airfields, plenty of stations, and a whole heap of deer stands. Yes, you'll have to LOOK for them, but that's not so much an issue.

Gabriel, I do believe that's the point of rare spawns.

    The TLDR survivor guide.

Even in Chern and Elektro it can do you good to find some friends, just to provide the snipers another head to shoot at. On the other hand, up north, all bets are off. As soon as you see someone, shoot first, ask questions later.

    Chopper refuel

Rocket, don't tell me if it'll ruin too much of a surprise, but are fuel pumps the only possible use for a generator? Also, how do you get the fuel to power the generator to power the fuel pumps? :p

    The TLDR survivor guide.

Haha, you've got to be kidding me. If you want to be labelled as a bandit and a dickhead, yeah, go for it. In my experience, unless you're: - In Chern or Elektro - Above the 'equator' of the map Anyone you run into will be just as likely to be friendly as you. Shooting first is a sure way to make sure they shoot back. Frankly I don't know how long you've survived, but you survive much longer with a friend by your side.
  12. It's a shame that not every language is as easy or as accesible as C, but I'm guessing if it were, a mod like this wouldn't be remotely possible. Anyway, good to hear you're dedicated to a steady but sure progress through the Alpha portion of the project. You've got more patience than I. :p
  13. Yeah, don't go soft into it. I've seen plenty of very decent mods fail (And been majorly involved in one of them) because they went 1.0 too early, and so were considered 'finished' by the public in an extremely underwhelming state. It's better to spend three months debugging an important feature than to spend a day removing it, especially where code is concerned. (That being said I wouldn't know about SQF, or whatever Arma uses, though I've heard its similar to C.)

    Toolboxes?

I hope not! I have enough trouble finding wheels. :P
  15. No, I'm not referring to you specifically, and of course reporting bugs is the most important thing we can do. :) I'm referring to those who would stop playing / testing simply because they are afraid of losing gear. But, that being said, obviously you shouldn't continue testing a game if you're not getting any satisfaction out of it whatsoever.
  16. Again: Test first, enjoy second. If you're concerned about losing loot, you shouldn't really be in a testing alpha in the first place. But, if Rocket has said it's out, I can promise I won't be complaining.
  17. oilman

    Toolboxes?

I'm not sure about the vehicles but it can also be used to construct tank traps and barbed wire.
  18. Taking out a feature because of bugs is completely against what an Alpha is meant to be. I really am having trouble understanding how other people don't get this: You are here to test first and enjoy yourself second. Please, look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Software_release_life_cycle#Alpha for more information.
  19. Nope, there are no AIs whatsoever except for the Zeds.

    DayZ Update 1.5.4

OP in what way? It could be argued that any rifle is OP compared to the Mak. The risk of obtaining each weapon is really where the balance comes from.
  21. I can confirm that. I found two rockets in a car and spent a long while looking for the launcher. :P
  22. I know it's late, but, for the record, my dealings with Legion have been nothing but enjoyable. They do stick together and tend to do their own thing in-game, but that's expected of a group of friends! As admins they've been fine, and the ruleset that Chaos posted is a great one.
  23. oilman

    We need a purpose.

Almost like the archetypical video game 'dungeon'. :)
  24. Haha, whoops, I thought you made an earlier post, when that was actually another guy! My mistake, and I apologise. I actually agree with your sentiments entirely. I still don't like dismissing of players as 'casual' - casual games are fine. I think the real issue is 'consolification', not 'casualisation'. But that's a topic for a different thread in a different forum. :D
