Skill trees? What the balls, does that mean we'll have persistent characters over deaths? I'm not sure how I feel about that.
-
I've already posted my opinions, but, I'd like to point out that as the number of players of this Alpha have increased, so have the players willing to pay for server hosting themselves or as part of a group. I don't see how this would change if the game were made even better.

Oh hi and welcome to Chicago 1, your new server.

"Psychosexual drama" would be a good name for a band. -
Making a game to go AROUND exploits instead of fixing the exploits themselves is a really dodgy way to develop.
-
Game purchase only. (I'd never pay for a subscription service, and F2P with purchased items is purely imbal.) Studio developed. (Professional. There's no need to involve a community in the development process.) Kickstarter. (Extra cash on the side never hurt.) (Super excited to hear that it's gettin' serious, you deserve it entirely. :D)

Ah, okay, sorry, I misread your post and thought YOU got banned. Apologies. I suppose if he really hammered into the deaf guy it might have been fair. But I do agree with you that some back-and-forth insults (Even if they're not my cup of tea) are A-Okay. -
So in other words, doing it properly was too hard and took too long, so you switched servers repeatedly. Sounds legit.
-
I was a bandit until yesterday, thanks to a similar self-defence incident, but then morphed back into a friendly after meeting up with some guys who I'd not met before in the north-eastern airfield - oh, sorry, I've never been away from the coast, so I guess I must be getting confused with Kamenka - and experienced the same morphing issue as you. I managed to meet with them because when they got close, I told them, that I would NOT shoot them. Is that really so hard? MORPHING is a problem right now. A serious one. I never said it wasn't. I completely agree - you shouldn't lose all your gear. But being dressed as a bandit does not condemn you to banditry, and I know this firsthand.

Oktyabr, the door doesn't actually open, so I don't see how there would be any chance to fire in / out.
-
Yes, they (Cars, Boats, and Choppers) are, but will need to be repaired before you can drive them.
-
Well for one thing, if by 'tried another server' you mean you switched servers just to loot the same airfield five or so times, that's pretty lame, man.
-
+1 to what Pallidum said. As well as that, even if you CAN'T find your friend, chances are you will both at some point find Chern or Elektro, and from there it's easy to meet up.

Pallidum, from my experience on Server Chicago, I seriously doubt you'll get banned, and I don't think it would be fair at all to ban you for what you do. That doesn't stop you from being a colossal prick, though. -
Actually I've found the opposite. It's incredibly easy to meet up with people, as long as you have a relatively good idea of the coast and the towns along it: It's simply a matter to go east along the rails or west along the rails. As well as that, spawning apart from your friends will not only force you to fend for yourself for some time (A good part of the game - starting off in a group of 5 means you will almost never die to zeds), but will also mean you encounter strangers along the way whom, in my experience, are usually friendly and will join you.

Alright, but don't get angry if I break the TV. -
Role Playing Aspects and Implications...
oilman replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
What kind of roleplay are you talking about? The best roleplay is emergent roleplay. That embarassing 'roleplay' that comes up through Jailbreak for CS: Source, Chenarus Life for Arma2 and similar games is not roleplay. It is this awkward, forced, rule-based system that is more like a Drama production than true roleplaying. -

Alright. I believe that I would probably hang around 230 - 280 ping. When I do play, if I get lads complaining about it, I'll find another server. :) -
So whats that other white icon, the one thats not the broken bone icon?
oilman replied to AshB's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yes, that's as intended. It's to stop people from disconnecting when being attacked by a horde. -

This sounds like my kind of server, but, in regard to absurdly high ping: How high is absurdly high? Us Ausbros are limited to joining the US Servers. -
Step 1: Be a dick Step 2: Have a gun Congratulations, you're a bandit
-
I stand corrected. I guess my one and only murder didn't count, for some reason.
-
Honestly, how often does that occur? One murder =/= becoming a bandit.
-
That's a lot harder than it seems. I tried it once, in the middle of nowhere. I still had to deal with zombies on my run from the forest to the town, and there were a surprising amount of bandits passing by.
