Can I Run DayZ Mod? (POST HERE)

Okay I've ordered the new PC, should be in tomorrow, will update the info below; Processor: Intel Core i7 Motherboard: ASRock Z77 Extreme4 Graphics Card: GeForce GTX680 DirectCU II OC Power Supply: Antec High Current Pro 750W Memory: G.Skill 16GB Kit (2x8GB) DDR3 1600MHz Didn't really need the sound card so I removed it and upped the ram MHz from 1333 to 1600, thanks for the feedback guys! So just double checking, I wont be experiencing any sort of problems running it?

Can I Run DayZ Mod? (POST HERE)

See I have a feeling that this is going to just disappear into the archive of posts in this topic, hence why I made a new topic, I do understand it's against the rules and I am sorry for making that mistake. But I am getting the computer tomorrow and I really don't have the time to wait for a random user to be looking half way through a thread and see if I've been answered or not :/

Can I Run DayZ Mod? (POST HERE)

All fixed, thanks for the info on the processors! Though I've waited simply too long for a good gaming PC, now is the time to do it for me :) I'm just curious if I'm going to get any sort of problems with this build, would really hate to find I've wasted my hard earned cash :(

Can I Run DayZ Mod? (POST HERE)

I am currently about to spend ~$2,300 on a gaming PC which is hopefully a bit future-proof and I would appreciate it so much if I could possibly get a few educated opinions on how it would run DayZ! :) Right now the current plan for the PC is; Processor: Intel Core i7 3770K Bridge 3.5GHz 8MB MotherBoard: Asus P8Z77-M LGA1155 mATX Memory: GeIL 16GB Kit (2x8GB) DDR3 Evo Veloce C9 1333Mhz Graphics Card: Asus GeForce GTX680 DirectCU II OC 1084M/6008M 2GB/2xDVI/HDMI/DP Sound Card: Asus Xonar Essence STX 7.1 PCIe Power: Antec High Current Pro 750W 80PLUS Gold Semi-Modular I apologize if there is too much information there, not sure what parts people would want to see :) Thanks in advance for all your help!
  6. Okay I feel this thread may have gone a bit off track from the point OP was originally making. If we could bring it back a tad that would be fantastic as I'm seeing two very valid sides to this argument and would love to see everyone narrow this down to one agreeable point. I feel that I could be somewhat of a neutral party as I have not in fact played the game yet. I have been following the game almost ever since it's release and have been kept up to date with it's happenings more than most people. Although while saying this I am sure there's an amount I do not understand solely because I have not experienced the world and it's stresses myself. I do in fact hope you will bear with me though, as I attempt to make somewhat of a conclusion from what we have had in this thread as well as the other similar ones. The update is big. Maybe a few small changes for the dev team but an extremely conflicting one for the players as we will all know quite well by now. It seems there are two main sides to this as we have the people who are having trouble taking 3 steps back after taking 10 forward, and we have the people who seem to have adapted quicker than most stating it's the "way it's meant to be". Sure, I can agree with that, the entire reason I've always wanted to play this game was due to it's "realistic" survival gameplay. I'm sure we can all agree that this was along the lines of Rockets' intentions, and that he has made a bold move to keep it that way. Though there are a few factors that I have not seen in this thread as of yet and one is how the players new to DayZ will see this game, I for one being a part of this group. (No matter how big or small.) I assume that I will get into the game, struggle, learn and adapt. Simple as that. I will not know any better either though will I? It's almost as if a new generation of DayZ players is about to be created and they are going to be on the tail of the veterans here if they can't learn and adapt as fast as we can. Sure there is the basic understanding of how the system works in ARMA. This being the inventory system, basic controls and the general clunky/stubbornness of the game that the new players simply wont understand. Though I assume when the SA comes out that's going to be reset anyhow. (To an extent I'm sure.) The two sides that are turning against each other both have some fantastic points. I find myself flicking back between both sides and I think I can see how we can all agree on a singular point if we all try putting ourself's in each others shoes so to speak; The people who have adapted claiming people need to change their old habits/methods are well respected on my end for understanding the necessities to survive so well under such a big change in such little time. This does not mean that the people on the opposite end are unjust. They claim that the game was still too buggy to input such a change which I also agree with completely and applaud them for making such a fine judgement. I haven't seen these incidents myself but from what I hear about the zeds agro range and glitch potential it simply sounds ill-timed to make such an important change to DayZ. I agree with the update but not with it's timing and priority it took on the dev team. They should have fixed the main concerning issues with the detection system before enforcing this patch. I'm still not certain but I feel pretty strongly that the SA will have these simple bugs fixed and the new update will run smoothly with the players of DayZ. I hope I have made some sort of resolution between the two opposing groups, in the end we all have to accept what's happening and make our decisions to leave or stay. What matters is that we find some sort of peace while we do.
  7. Well said my friend! My beans are yours.

Thanks! May hold you up on that :P Sounds perfect for me aha! Where exactly would I find these game modes? Are they inbuilt into arma?

    Pro tips for a newbie?

It seems I've joined at quite an odd time between a big update haven't I? Everything you posted was/is much appreciated and I'm glad you mentioned not using aids as I know I probably would have. (Advice from another DayZ player insisted I did.) Haha although you have my beans, you have not persuaded me otherwise. I have gone too long (entire life) without a "proper" gaming computer and don't even want to risk not being able to run a game I want to play. Solid experience speaking right there, thanks heaps! :)
  10. Hey all! This is my first time posting and I'm about to experience my first time playing DayZ after a long, painful wait for a new computer. I've now got ~$2000 to spend on a gaming PC and hopefully it will run all the games I intend to play without a second thought, DayZ being the focus of the entire project. This will all be coming together in about a week so I'd just like to get everything ready for my first time playing! :) I've been following/watching DayZ videos and updates almost ever since it's initial release. I've watched/read tutorials and feel like I have a pretty good grasp on the basic fundamentals of the game. What I am posting here for is too see if anyone here could perhaps give me a few personal pro tips of theirs? Maybe some that wouldn't be shown in the standard tutorials? This could be anything like what to avoid, what breaks legs, what glitches, where not to go, what not to do, ANYTHING! All will be appreciated, no matter how silly you may think it is. I am but a mere newbie preparing for my long awaited adventure into this game which I hope to all see you in! (Hopefully not through my sights, though my aim will be as crummy as my cooking skills anyway :P)
