    Bandit Noob i need help

Fastest way to get a decent gun is to just go to elektro and loot the 2 firehalls. If you don't find any guns, join a different server and keep looting the 2 firehalls until you get a decent gun. I find AK's M4's and even DMR's spawn quite frequently in them. Once you get that down there are plenty of players in elektro and cherno, and on high population servers you can bet its a bloodbath
  2. Yea, at first I was disappointed by all the PvP. But then I started to fall in love with the PvP aspect. It's so exhilarating and gives me an adrenaline rush that I've never felt before. I mean in CS + other FPS games, you see a player, you shoot, maybe you kill him, maybe you don't. But if you die, you respawn, rinse repeat. In DayZ there is no quick respawn, you die, you lose all your equipment, and you respawn far away while some dude loots your body and hides it. Also when encountering players you get such an adrenaline rush. Should I kill him? Should I be friendly? Is he going to kill me? and when in battle I've noticed that after I'm shaking and my hearts racing. I never expected this to happen, and I really grew to enjoy it.

    Building my first camp/stash

Use DayZ commander and spot out servers that consistently have a low number of players or none at all. I found a server that has at most 5 players on it. There's two ways of going about it. Set one up in the forest near the coast where no one usually goes to if you are lazy, or go all the way up north and set up a tent there. Thing is if you die, you will have to find a way back up there.
  4. Strange that you think it's mostly PvE, I think most people would agree that it's mostly PvP. I was actually disappointed when I found this fact out, I tried to play the nice guy, but it just got me shot at and killed. I bought the game initially because I wanted that sh*ts hitting the fan zombie apocalypse feel, however after I got the hang of things, zombies weren't really a threat. I still love the game, the PvP element is really unlike any other experience I've had, but it would be nice to have a game where you can work together with people you meet against a hard environment since I tend to play games alone.
  5. I've had DayZ for about a month now and have a good hold on things. Played FPS games my whole life so I'm decent in combat. One thing that I'm really having a tough time with though is spotting players and knowing where their positions are based on gun shots. Will getting a better computer help with this (currently ordering parts for one)? Right now I'm using a 2 year old gaming laptop that barely runs the game. I can't go on high resolution and I only have texture details etc. on normal. I can spot players when they are running in open fields, but when they are in forests or places with high shrubbery, I can't spot them at all. Probably the toughest thing for me is determine positions based on gun shots. Would getting good headphones help? For example I was playing with a friend and I hear this loud DMR shot. Sounds like it's behind me, but turns out my friend spotted the sniper very far on another hill to my left. Also do all gun shots make that popping noise when they land near you? So if you hear a loud gun shot without the pop, you can assume it wasn't fired at you, or the person is a terrible shot? If you could give me some tips on how to improve on these two things, that would be great thanks.
  6. Yea when I hear that popping sound, I think of the most logical place they are shooting at me from and get cover. Like I said, I have really crappy sound at the moment, so can I assume if I don't hear a whizzing or popping sound, the gunshot is not directed towards me?
  7. Think it would be cool if there was a co-op mode with a much harder environment so you have to work together to survive, or some kind of system that would allow players who run into each other to play together without the paranoia that they might kill them when they turn their back. I enjoy DayZ as it is, but the reason why I bought the game was for that shits hitting the fan zombie apocalypse feel, which I don't really get with DayZ. When I approach a town/city I'm looking out for players, the only threat zombies pose to me are revealing my position to other players. Don't really want to get into a "what DayZ" should be fight since that's not really up to me, but the developers.

    Did I get hacked?

So I was in the firehall near the industrial building in Elektro. I spawned in the top floor of the firehall. Was quickly checking my gear and heading towards the stairs. Out of nowhere behind me I hear these shots and I was knocked out and had my leg broken. I see this character model running from behind (wtf???) coming to get the finishing shot. I'm pretty sure he was a bandit too. Is this some kind of glitch? Can players actually spawn right next to each other? Or is this hacks?

    Did I get hacked?

Thanks for correcting my grammar, because that's why we're all here. Like I said, it took me 1-2 seconds to walk to the stairwell on a low population server, I just found it hard to believe in that 1-2 seconds someone just so happened to spawn right behind where I was. I've heard of people using hacks where they can teleport to other players etc, and this guy had a bandit outfit on so I assumed that's what happened.

    Did I get hacked?

I forget the server name, but it only had 6-8 people in it if I recall, so it wasn't a really high traffic server. It just doesn't seem probable that in the 2 seconds it took me to walk to the stairs, someone spawned in right behind me and shot me.

    Did I get hacked?

I was in the very top floor of the firehall. There is no way he ran up the stairs, because I was walking towards the stairs and the shots came from behind me. My body was knocked out on the stairs and I saw his character in the top floor, so he was behind me as I was walking towards the stairs. Is it possible that players can spawn that close to each other? That seems really ridiculous that a player can just kill you from behind because he gets a lucky spawn.

    DayZ Standalone Discussion

Hey guys, has there been any official statement of what the stand alone will consist of? Like will it be the same map? Any changes they want to make? Personally the 2 biggest things for me that I want to see are: - Harder zombies/environment. In the DayZ world it takes literally a minute if you are surrounded by zombies to die from their hits, and this is while standing still doing nothing. I feel like this isn't challenging enough, and whenever I go into town, it just seems like there are just a few stragglers here and there and I don't get that "zombie apocalypse shit hitting the fan" feeling. - This point is connected to the previous. Because the environment isn't very challenging, DayZ has literally become a PvP game. I like PvP games and have tons of them, but the whole reason I bought Arma II and Arma II OA was to play a zombie survival game, not a PvP game. I don't mind some player killing here and there to make it more interesting, but that's all DayZ is. I don't have friends that play the game, so I'm alone most of the time, and whenever you do try to be nice it always backfires. It would just be nice to be able to see someone you don't know and work together instead of being alone the whole time and killing anyone you don't know.
  13. So I'm new to DayZ. Have had it for about a week now and finally got the hang of things like how to scavenge properly and get guns quickly. Ran into my first armed human the other day while I was scavenging and he started shooting at me. I tried to run and he saw this but still tried to shoot me. Later died from zombies. I remember seeing some DayZ youtube videos called Don't trust anyone or something like that where they trust someone and they die. Thought it was all for jokes and fun. So I kept playing "nice" ran into one guy in a tower. Zombies were coming up the stairs and we were holding off at the stairwell. I kept trying to go up and he was firing some revolver shots and blocking the way. I got hit a couple times so I turned around and killed the zombies. I got the distinct feeling he was trying to let zombies kill me by blocking the stairwell so I turned around and killed him. When I looted his body I found out he had no ammo, if he did he probably would have killed me, but since he didn't he was hoping blocking me would get me killed by zombies. After that I ran into 2 more people but just killed them ASAP. Is this considered BM or something??? Or is it just the norm?
  14. I like the idea of a survivor becoming a hard zombie. But what happens if he is shooting at you first? Then you get punished for defending yourself. Or if your in a group and one of your friends dies, and wreaks havoc on your whole group
  15. Here's the thing, if you just avoid human contact, what is the fun? I mean the zombies are hardly even a threat. It literally takes standing still for a minute before a zombie crowd kills you. Even if you are being chased, you run into a house and exit the opposite side and your fine. The whole point of DayZ is to play with other players in this zombie apocalypse. If you avoid all human contact and don't engage, there really isn't much else to do other than hide from humans and scavenge... If you are avoiding humans, the danger of running into an unknown human can be interesting and fun, but it gets kind of boring after a while, which is the point where I am at. Right now I'm considering going to higher population servers and seeing if I can get into a few "fights" so things get more interesting. However, if you choose that way, unless you are really good, you will end up dying often, and it just gets annoying since you have to keep re-scavenging gear. Would really be nice if there were deterrents to killing on sight, like you die or come close to it because you need one and other to survive. Or maybe you can press a button which changes your clothes or puts an icon above your head, and when this icon is over head, you can't shoot other players who also have the icon on their head unless you press the button again, but it takes 20-30 sec to disable so it warns other players if someone is disabling it. Could be nice since you can shoot other players without the icon, but not others with the icon. So if you run into another unknown player with this icon above their head, and you have one also, you can work together. Although I can't really complain since this game is still developing.
  16. hey all, I use DayZ Commander and I installed the DayZ origins mod. However when I refresh to look for DayZ origins servers, none show up. IDK what is going on, is there anything else I need to do?
  17. It's not night time. I thought that at first and turned brightness and gamma up and it did nothing.
  18. haha no, I'm pretty sure it isn't nighttime since I've joined several servers and I even asked the players if it was night time and they said no
  19. Well, I've been playing more and more, and I've noticed one potentially huge thing that is causing all this PvP. I play quite a few zombie games, such as COD BO2 zombies and Left 4 Dead 1 + 2, and I noticed that it takes a long long time for zombies to kill you. Like you can get surrounded by 5 zombies and it takes them a minute to kill you if you just stand there. I was really surprised at this actually, since in other zombie games I'm used to dying in only a couple hits. I know DayZ isn't COD BO2, but perhaps if they made the zombies significantly more powerful or somehow made the environment more difficult, it would force players to work together instead of killing each other. I've tried to be the good guy, but I've only gotten shot at. I say friendly friendly and run away, and get chased. Lately as I've gotten better, the only danger I really fear is other players, not zombies, which is kind of the opposite of what the game should be about IMO.
  20. Arma? In my DayZ commander it says I'm up to date in my arma 2. I've also got 1.7.5 for origins which is the latest, so unless DayZ commander is wrong then IDK what is going on
  21. For sure got the right version. Downloaded and reinstalled on DayZ commander
  22. No I don't get an initializing text. I've also tried going in and out of windowed mode and it doesn't do anything
  23. So I just downloaded DayZ origins and was pretty excited. However when I load into a game, my screen is black. I can see my blood, food, etc, and also some skulls and hands in the top right. I can also check my gear, hear my footsteps and the shot from my pistol, and chat, but my screen otherwise is black. Anyone have this problem?
  24. So I downloaded DayZ origins and loaded into a server. However the screen is black. I can see my blood, food, water, etc and some skulls + hand in the top right, but other than that my screen is totally black. I can even hear myself walk and shoot, and my gear loads up, but my screen is black. And no it isn't night time lol
