Idea derived from previous "stun arrow" ideas, reimagined for shotguns. Input: 1x ammo stack (870, DB, Winchester), 1x tire (or other imagined rubber implement... rock salt could even work here) Output: Non-lethal rounds Tools: Hunting Knife (prying open ends of shells) Failchance: .05 Enchantment: Reduces damage dramatically (95%?), stuns target for 30 seconds ActionType: Ammunition Perhaps a more realistic way to provide people with the means to knock out other survivors without putting them in the ground. What they do afterwards is their business =)

The zombie infection has run it's course, like grass through the buffalo.

Servers game or not? What do you prefer (SA)

I'd take a lower cap for enhanced performance any day. Not to mention, as others suggested, that many players would lead to a never-ending slaughter in Cherno. -
Hi everyone!! New and excited!

HMS & GBTP covered it all. You really have to experience the journey to capture that magic that makes this game so bangarang. That being said, I benefited a great deal from the ARMA II in-game training, especially the armory. It sounds stupid, but ammo is limited enough that I never feel like I get enough "shooting practice" in game, so I'll go to the firing range and work on accuracy, leaning and shooting, etc. Not as fun as zombies, but helps a bunch with confidence. I second their advice about 1.7.6. It's going to be very frustrating trying to learn the basics of the game with the changes made in 1.7.7, in my opinion. -

I've had much more success using melee weapons than anything else. On two separate occasions, found a crowbar/hatchet on the back porch of random houses. Then, I would just run into a house, and club them to death one by one. The hatchet kills in one hit most of the time. The zombies also carry food/drink, which is helpful. However, you will get infected often with this method, so antibiotics are still a top priority. Only found 2 boxes sitting on a random stoop so far. -
Fortifications?

Everyone knows that the key to surviving the zombie apocalypse is having a strong talent for interior design. Zombies can smell ugly couches and poorly utilized living space from 10,000 meters. -

Just got out of trying to love this patch again. Had decent luck after my first death. Found a hatchet, M1911 with two clips, Makarov with one, a few cans of beans and soda, two boxes of antibiotics sitting on a porch, and a bible. I was less excited about the guns than the hatchet, seeing as it hits like a truck and never runs out of ammo. Still got frustrated when I busted a hospital window only to find a pair of empty tin cans. -
I would think your masterpiece would make you more than enough profit. Oh well, the world probably isn't ready for your brilliance anyways.

We should all pool our beans and invest in MikeZA's standalone zombie game. It sounds like his coding is going to be top-notch and will blow DayZ out of the water. Let me know when it's up and running so I can get in on it early!

Triz and Taj have captured the hardcore v. casual argument pretty thoroughly. I'm always in favor of hardcore, niche games that aren't driven by the market, but that's just the way she goes. CoD became successful by catering to the whims of the masses. WoW has become a casual-ty, at least as far as many vanilla players are concerned. Once you move past the early stages of a dark horse/indie game or a mod designed for fun and not for profit, you get into the territory where the cash starts making the calls. -
Understanding KoS Mentality...

Even if survivors are forced to band together to fight off a horde in order to get loot (ala raiding in other MMO's), that cooperation would go out the window when the threat was eliminated and the gear on display. For those of you out there who have played MMO's, imagine the chaos that would ensue if, upon downing a boss, everyone got to kill one another for the loot. That's why this game is so unique and so exciting: Unpredictable, anxiety-inducing, trust-testing interactions. -

Brand new player here, must have been in a coma for the past year to miss this action. After playing private then on a pub post-update, the only issue I had was going through entire villages without finding more than an empty can. I completely agree that this game should be as unfriendly and barren as possible; I'm assuming that's why actual, non-gunfest servers thrive. However, I wound up spending an hour and change finding nothing but empty cans with nothing to fight off my relentless fanclub of flesh-eaters. Most likely just wound up on a server that needed a reset or had a stretch of awful luck. I had more difficulty with the long attention span of zombies rather than the tackling. I'm sure it will loosen up when you come across a weapon or a buddy.
