  1. So... You shoot at the guy, he shoots back, You hit him in the chest and he hits you in the chest. Now the clothing in both areas is ruined and so is that drink you had. Oh well he should have... oh crap his chest clothing is ruined and there is a broken water bottle. Oh and he had a GPS in his hoodie and that is ruined too. Sure if you just snipe from a hill, but that won't be as easy anymore either. Zombies will be romaing the countryside. There will no longer be "No zombies spawns" up where the snipers like to camp. They will have to watch for Zombies and for players since they won't have their handy "Zombie Spawn Radar" down in town to tell them someone is in Elektro and what part they are most likely in. Gear Degrading won't ONLY be from taking damage. Running will wear out your shoes, I assume using a bat over and over will wear it down and they might even make it so your clothes slowly wear down. Sure you might still kill people as much, but it might not be from a hill overlooking Cherno/Elektro/NWAF with a sniper rifle but running into a house with zombies on your tail and taking a swing at another survivor with your hatchet hoping they don't kill you and you kill them before the zombies block the door behind you.

    Self Blood Bags

    No one even cares about realistic. It's a poor game feature to have self bloodbag. Now you really have no reason not to be a jerk since you don't even need another person for quick healing. Self bloodbags lead to careless gameplay. When alone I am super careful and will disengage or exfiltrate to safety if my blood drops below half. With a partner with plenty of bloodbags we will stop quick, fill up, and continue on. Self bloodbags remove the need for a partner and just mean you can smash your way through the game as long as you don't get knocked out.

    1. Safe Zones are not part of Epoch 2. PVP areas? What area isn't PVP? No place is safe in Epoch. 3. Buying items means you have to have something to trade in. Sure you could eventually get some NVGs but you might have to hump a bunch of guns or other items to a trader which is a high traffic area and then sit there and slowly trade them in, exchange the metals to get the gold and then finally buy them. Meanwhile you have to lug around copper, silver, and gold in your backpack taking up space until you have enough. It's kinda a pain to trade. 4.Permanent Item Storage is EXPENSIVE. To buy a Safe is 120 gold bars. 120 AKs, 60 DMRs/M4s/M16s, or 3600 Lee Enfields. Everything else is semi secure but can be broken into or destroyed. 5. Bots are not part of Epoch. I really hate when people start bitching about things that are NOT part of the mod as a reason to hate the mod. This is like saying you hate Vanilla DayZ because of Self Blood Bags, 1000+ vehicles, and Starting kits including DMRs.

    In Vanilla DayZ? NVGs: 0 (personally, my friend found a pair, never realized how rare they were until he died and couldn't get back to his corpse and told us what gear he lost. We went, "You HAD WHAT!?! Why were you carrying that on a loot run in Stary in the middle of the day with no backpack and only a hatchet and pistol for weapons!?!") Range Finders: 5-8 GPS: 10+ several at Helicopter crashes.

    Well, there is a difference between Alpha bugs and unplayable game. I assume the game is not stable enough for people to play without constantly running into issues... not just "I crashed when I did X, Y, Z." but "It takes an hour to log into the game. I finally got in ran ten steps and saw a zombie that was moonwalking. It made the agro noise but didn't move just walked backwards so I ignored it. Then I went into a nearby house and grabbed some beans off the table when I was kicked out of the game and it took me 20 minutes to log in again. Only to be kicked out when I tried to swing the baseball bat I just picked up."

    Best settings for spotting people

    I remember YEARS ago attending a LAN. Quake III was a big deal for many people back then and it had this interesting little thing going on with it. The specific faster FPS you could achieve faster movement and higher jumps. I remember taking a break from Jedi Academy and wandering into the section where a bunch of players playing Q3 were. I looked at the screen and saw POLYGONS like an 80's game. The walls were textureless and clean brown, the floor the same but grey-blue, and a rocket was a large square with a smaller white square and even smaller red square when traveling at you. Basically they all tuned their graphics until they hit the perfect FPS and the game looked like something I would have played on an Atari. This is the point where I decided I would not play a game lower than my system would allow. I frequently got outplayed at Q3 by those with rigs setup with no shadows or textures because not only could they see me before I could see them but they could actually move faster and jump higher. I was okay with that.

    I think this looks like a nightmare. Good for losing some zombies but very likely to result in you stumbling into an unexpected zombie once they are not limited to loot spawn areas. Imagine a "Herd" of migrating Zeds wandering out of the field to your left as you run along... :D

    Current Trend

    I have to agree with that. I spend time around Klen because there is a trader base there with walls and a front and back entrance, so to speak, so it is a good place to go if you are going to trade some items away. At this point we mostly collect the more "expensive" guns and make a run every so often in a vehicle to trade them away. It takes a bit and you have to put the gun in as your main gun to trade it so we typically do it in pairs with one guy covering the one doing the trading. We also visit the Hero trader up by NEAF. We hit the Factory between Polana and Orlovets as well as the one North of Solnichniy for building supplies. Same thing for the industrial area near the coast in Berinzino. Our actual base is up near Skalka, which frankly is a place we wouldn't have otherwise visited much but now sees a bunch of traffic. Too open to hide vehicles and tents and too near NWAF to risk except for the fact we can build walls and locked doors and slow people down if not stop the truly determined from looting our stashes. We frequently scan other ares of the map because there are not just helicopter crashes which spawn a couple loot piles but "Mass Graves" which spawn a ton of zombies but have military level gear spawn deep in the pile where it is hard to see and you have to scan bit by bit. There are supply drops which drop useful building materials and now a crate you can destroy that might spawn some vehicle ammo since after server restarts vehicles have no ammo. Since we still like to hit the normal spots and will sometimes hit Elektro/Cherno when we feel the need for a bit more risk we actually use a LOT more of the map than I do in Vanilla where we tend to keep to ourselves out of the way. There are some real hotspots on the map that just are not worth the risk without a lot of backup.

    Oh I agree with you on fine manipulators allowing for our intelligence, that is a very likely cause and result, but there is some debate as dolphins are very intelligent animals but have no fine manipulators. Now, traditionally men fight because in fighting you usually lose people even when victorious. Now 3 men and 10 women can create a 30 babies in a short amount of time with a bit of genetic diversity while 10 men and 3 women will take a lot longer to get the same 30 babies. So our social structure has influenced the gender roles in a large way. Same thing with hunting and gathering. Hunting is more dangerous than gathering so you send the more EXPENDABLE yet capable members of the society or a bonded pair out to hunt. Add into that the mother could provide milk for the very young while a father could not and you have that reinforced at least for the first year or two. Yes, some physical differences make men better at physical confrontation but I wouldn't say psychologically that our physical differences have, I would say that socially we have developed most males psychological make-up in more physically aggressive directions.

    Uh huh... so the out of 10 friends I know of 3 that are very fit and athletic. 1 has a single child. The other 7 are like myself, not horribly out of shape but not fit. 1 doesn't have kids... yet. Unless you go back to pre-stone age it isn't always the most fit that lives to breed. If so I wouldn't be wearing eye glasses right now. In fact humans are all but worthless as animals from their simple physical form. It is our cleverness and intelligence that leads to survival and that is what has lead to successful humans who have bred.

    Whoa, whoa, whoa..... How does making the sexes unequal automatically turn to females being worse than males? I mean there are genetic/biological physical differences and those are often compounded by societal norms for the genders but that does not mean that women would be less capable in a survival situation, Survival courses being specifically designed to look for a few certain things can be biased towards muscle mass and other typically masculine features. They used to think no woman could swim the English Channel successfully.. until they did. There are a lot of advantages women have over men physically such as higher pain threshold, more compact frame, greater energy reserves.. and such. Why do we have to stop that? Can you explain what exactly is wrong with a person in a video game playing a fictional character selecting a gender that is different than themselves? Next up shall we make it so that in order to play the skinny and fit characters you have to mail in a picture showing you are not 300 pounds from sitting on your ass all day playing video games? "I want to use this face with brown hair... but mine is red." 1. Several generations huh? Apparently you have no idea how natural selection works. 2. Um... WHAT? Apparently you have missed all the mention of flipping the typical "attractive woman dates unattractive male" and how society is horrible for complaining when the opposite happens. A lot of "attractive" women date men that would not fit that "fit muscular man" ideal you have, even the large breasted ( that alone made me face palm as hips are far more important than breast size in regards to continuation of the species). Riiiiiiiiiight... Biological imperatives are not gender specific. Male and Female animals both WANT offspring. If you have a species where the females want offspring and the males do not you end up with a dead species. In fact in many species the males of the species are just as involved ast he females in raising offspring and in some more involved. Also, the beliefe that men want to fight and be strong... that is a societal thing, not a biological imperative. While it is true that because of hormonal differences men can put on more muscle mass than women and while I do believe that certain things are hardwired into our brain such as mannerisms and such, actual behaviour is not, that is learned and biased by culture and environment. This whole, "Men are competitive and women are docile" bull is laughable. Someone has not spent much time with women being women around other women. They are fiercely competitive. =========================================== There are physical differences between women and men but I think most men have been brainwashed to think that all those differences are in their favor and they are not. I've known many women I would not want to be in a fight with including one I used to play paintball with who was into UFC and had a couple fights. I was a hell of a lot sneakier than her but she was faster and could run a hell of a lot longer than I could not to mention likely kick my ass in hand to hand especially with her lower center of mass and agility.
  12. The Zeds. If they are based off of a virus similar to 28 days later they will die off after a couple months because they are not undead and do not take care of their basic needs.
  13. Why wouldn't a DayZ be able to climb? They have the same arms, legs, and opposable thumbs we do so if we could climb it they should be able to. They are alive and slightly MORE physical than us because of the virus driving them to extremes.

    Yes, it is an opinion, and opinion not backed up by reasoning or fact is basically worth nothing. Can you give us some reasons it sucks? You haven't even PLAYED the actual mod just a custom version of it so you really don't have an educated opinion to even give. This would be like me saying I don't like the handling of the Chrysler LeBarron but the only one I drove had a lift kit with oversized low profile tires that totally changed what the handling of the car would be. From that I decided ALL Chrysler LeBarron's didn't handle well. Or maybe saying I didn't like the leg room of Toyotas because one model I drove didn't have much leg room totally ignoring that it was a sub-compact model and a lot of the other ones actually have leg room. I am really annoyed by the people who think that because something is an opinion it is magically untouchable by logic and valid. Opinions can be wrong and frequently are when based off of ignorance and supposition such as is the case here.

    Just to be clear... Epoch sucks because a feature that has NOTHING to do with Epoch and is not part of Epoch itself but was on an private and custom Epoch server you played once sucks? Are you seeing logical disconnection you are having here?

    You know... I don't get all the butthurt some people have towards that mod. The vanilla version of it is about as tough as Vanilla DayZ.

    My friends and I say it both ways and both ways are correct. I was "corrected" by a friend till I pulled out a dictionary and showed him the pronunciation guide for the word.

    Um... What? While there was a period of time this was true all us 18-year-olds became 30-year-olds became 40-year-olds. Since many kids can't play games like this due to complexity or parental rules you are talking about 9-18 for "ages" of underage players compared to the previous generations who still play games. Some of those were 30 when I was 15 and THEY STILL PLAY. So the Majority are actually over 20. I can point at 25+ people I know personally that are 30+ that play video games similar to DayZ. I can point at 6 that play DayZ itself.

    I assume you have never coded anything in your life. There are limitations to code or bugs that no developer no matter how talented can get rid of. Usually they code around them but the door is still open in the code for those little pieces to be hooked onto. Most exploits either break the work around to trigger that code you don't want accessed or use some outside means to hook into them. It's not that the developers "suck" or are not doing their job it's that they are human and people do want the product to come out in a year or two. To do that you start with existing code which means you often have parts left in you can't remove (at least not without compromising something or a LOT of extra work) but shouldn't be accessed. For an example. In DayZ Epoch they "lock" vehicles by having the program check to see if you have an object with a given value in your inventory that matches a value set on the vehicle. If you do you can unlock it and then it will show the options to "Get In..." on the action menu. Locking it turns off those options again. Well, if you could enter a vehicle without using the action menu then you could hop in and drive away with it. So when people added AI to their servers they were shocked to see them get in locked cars and drive around. That is because they don't use the action menu. The AI "cheats" to bypass the code set up to "lock" vehicles.
