Loot system should be adjusted (less dependency on server start)
mercules replied to alleycat's topic in General Discussion
3 Mosin Rifles and ammo for them is "low end gear" are you insane? As it is gear is not respawning at this time because they are figuring out how to do it correctly so that it doesn't cause sever lag or lead to circle farming a small area. When it is done they will put it into the game. Early Release ALPHA. -
Things i think need changing in the standalone
mercules replied to Rockingwolf96's topic in General Discussion
I believe they actually WANT it to be that way. It's a bit realistic. You pull the container out and open it then pull things out of it. During that time the container is not in your backpack or shirt, it is very literally out and on the "ground" in front of you. -
Charging people money to help you "make" a game....

Well, he also stated at one point that maybe it would be more to discourage those who are less serious from buying it. They wanted to weed out those that would have an issue with the game in the state it was in and only get those who really wanted to play it early despite the bugs. So... maybe it should have been $40? ;) -

Yes and equally they want the people who do like the changes to speak up as well. -

You mean the main thing everyone hated in the Mod? No thanks. The new inventory system is much more usable and intuitive. As an Aside, the backpacks look like they do because that is what real life civilian backpacks look like. Camping and hiking backpacks are brightly colored so if you are lost and they need to find you, you can be spotted. This is the model one of the backpacks is based off of: And here is another model: Notice anything? -
You literally just drag and drop like you do with so many computer OS functions. You drag the clothes item onto your character model, just like stated.

GO READ MY POST... Buy it at $30 and wait to play it. -
Beat me to it.

Charging people money to help you "make" a game....
mercules replied to jBrick's topic in General Discussion
How so? He can either spend $60 at a later date or spend $30 now. If he chooses now he has spent $30 less and therefore saved $30 off the $60 price. -

Because I have bought the final game, it's not at that state yet. -

Many games have a Pre-Order special. If the OP decided to buy the game while it was $30 and never play it but treat it as a "Pre-Order" then only play once it "released" then he would probably be saving $30 as it will likely be $60 at actual release. -

You mean 1 year, right? Because the SA started in production a year ago. Most major games take 2-3 years minimum to develop. You need to go back and read the little message that pops up every time you log into the game. If you don't want to play it, don't. Really simple solution. -

I play Epoch frequently... and laugh at your statement. -

Alternately, Buy it at $30 and wait until it releases for $60 and you just saved $30 but don't have to play it while buggy. Problem Solved. -
Has anyone figured out how to survive?
mercules replied to Obsolescence's topic in General Discussion
I have two... it can't be THAT rare. :) -
Nope... this is it this is exactly how the game will be years from now and forever. There won't be patches and fixes anytime in the next few months or any performance increases. <-sarcasm You know what state the game is in... barely enough to give it to us and most of the systems not implemented. So why ask?

HAH! Apparently you haven't kept up with the industry. Most games are $60+ right now when finished. You get to play the game in a very early state and help guide it with feedback for $30. Meanwhile this money goes into further development meaning the game maker doesn't have to incur costs then HOPE they can recover them at some vague point in the future. With old school development there was a lot of, "Well it ~HAS~ to ship so scrap that, cut this, and plaster over that whole in the wall and ship it already!" With this things can change and will. -

Step One: GET THE HELL OFF THE COAST! Step Two: loot all those towns that have items in them because everyone else is hanging out around the coast. -
Because they are reporting a "Known Issue" that has already been stated is going to change. Redundant.

Yup, you're an ass. I mean that in the nicest of ways. Which is why we don't trust strangers. A guy with an M4 ran into my friend who told him he was friendly and noted that he had a shovel and a flashlight. The guy decided not to kill him and told him where he saw an ax. He wanted to tag along when my friend mentioned he was looking to meet up with us and my friend told him nicely that it wasn't going to happen simply because.... well... the above tale is exactly why that isn't going to happen. :)

DayZ Standalone... over a year too late.
mercules replied to jBrick's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You got my beans for the first comment not the second. What I think has happened is exactly what Dean was stating, they were trying to fix a couple MAJOR issues and then would release. That means there are still tons of minor issues. Major issues like the doubled up logging in and unplayable FPS on the servers were the major things and those seem to be not happening. -
The main thing that sucks right now: The FPS
mercules replied to Ozelot (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Where did you get your stats from? "Hyperbole-R-Us"? Yes the ALPHA that doesn't yet have all of it's SYSTEMS set up yet is not yet optimized graphics wise. This is a really "DUH!" moment here. What did you expect? With a few tweaks it runs fairly well for everyone I have spoken to. That is actually MORE than I expect from an early alpha release. Did you see Dean's comment about not buying the game yet if you can't handle it not being perfect? ... and what did you do? Who is to blame here? -
If I Alt+Tab out my game crashes when coming back in. My solution is the same as yours, "Don't Alt+Tab."

Ah, but you see the one thing we all have in common is the code of the game. It works better for others so.... That least settings and/or computer. Enjoy. -
What the OP and all of you have missed is that Dean already stated the text wasn't working correctly and will be going away to be replaced by another system... but NOT icons. So the OP is telling the devs what they already know. Shall we start a slow clap for him being so insightful?
