These things only work in closed groups like ShackTac where they enforce it among their community and people will not abuse the system based on merit alone. It won't work in a game where people already are cheating by combat logging.

That would place you outside the norm for online players. When I join PuGs in other games the players feel the need to tell me things I never wanted to know about them. I don't need to know that this complete stranger I am stuck listening to likely caught a STD from the last person they slept with. I don't care that their cat just vomited on their foot. Trust me, you are in the minority if you don't talk about personal things with people online, much less friends online.

How? http://www.forbes.com/sites/erikkain/2013/05/27/the-five-biggest-problems-with-the-xbox-one/

Yes. I want that game. DayZ is a game like that. I play it both ways. In fact I play games to "hang out" with friends that are now 3+ hours or across the country away from me. Since we can't meet at the coffee shop or bar anymore we play online.

Hey look! It's a real thing! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greyout

Have you checked out the controversy behind X-Box always having the mic on?
-
Mute my mic and use skype with phone. It's not so inconvenient and the advantage is actually fairly large if you are forcing everyone to broadcast all the time.
-
Wow... 2 people didn't try and whack you immediately. I am shocked.
-
I know! It's almost like this game is still in Alpha or something. :)
-
Exactly how are you going to do that? I can use Skype on my phone with a tiny earbud in under my normal headphones and no game in the world will ever be able to tell it is happening. Since my phone hooks into the wireless router there is no cost to doing it. At best it is inconvenient but I would have an advantage on everyone else. Basically it is unenforceable.

Tutorial on how to equip 2 guns. [Video]

Hopefully I am saving you a, "Oh my god why didn't you tell me about ladders. Some guy ran up behind me, grabbed my M4 and shot me before I realized I had dropped it and was half way up the ladder!" post. ;) -
Ghosting,Loot Farming (server hopping),Combat Logging. Possible Solution.

There are rare chances of guns spawning elsewhere. I agree with you somewhat but what would happen is that the server hopping would go from Barracks to "This building has the most loot spawns in it." and that is what they would hop from server to server in. Sadly I think a barracks is right up there with things like the office buildings for number of possible spawns. -
You want a 1st person server and your friends are too scared to play on one... Arguments. :)

Sorry, I am attempting to understand what sexual preference has to do with ability to open cans. Care to explain?

That isn't a reason to server hop. Trust me. Never done it and I can get guns and clips. I would just get MORE guns and clips if I were to server hop. As I also said, server hopping compounds the loot issue because instead of having one location on a server lacking ammo for an M4 you end up with that same location on numerous serves lacking ammo for an M4. If you have 50 viable servers and 5 people Hoping through the same location on 10 servers soon you have 0 servers with loot in that location. Server hopping is basically why so many people can find a gun, but not ammo for it. -
Zombies become more dangerous in 1st person as well. I know this from playing the mod on 1st person only servers. You don't see them as easily and have to actually expose yourself to figure out where they are and move past them. In the Mod you can always just run and agro them then lose them in a building, but in SA that won't be as easy. The game is a lot creepier in First Person as well since things tend to surprise you when you don't have periscope vision.

Yep... had an M4 and rounds for it, but no clip. Had an Mosin and rounds so I put the M4 on my back and ran around with the Mosin out. What he doesn't tell you is that in order to climb a ladder, eat, drink, use anything you will have to drop the gun in hands which means it sits right there. This isn't horrible if drinking quick, but if you need to climb a ladder your gun is just waiting at the bottom for someone to pick it up. ;) -
Don't you understand? It is level. Everyone can camp from inside a building and just sit there all day waiting for someone to walk by. See... totally fair. <_<

See.. they had a choice... right? I don't know why anyone didn't chose "death" it was an option.

Oh for the love of god Fix the Breathing! Do I have Asthma?

Sorry, the Alpha excuse is very valid here. New sound guy just hired. All sounds are bound to change. So the panting will likely change and when the panting starts will probably change as well. Maybe wait and see what happens? -
By "allowing" 3rd you are basically forcing 3rd. 3rd has so many advantages in combat on 1st that if you are on a server that allows 3rd you basically HAVE to use it. Ergo, it isn't optional. Heck it even gives you advantages sneaking around and against Zombies since you can see them around a corner and they can't see you.

So you are saying it would be an effective deterrent then? -
I actually know one! He works for Burlington North, but then again I used to live in a town with a train repair facility. There are trains on the map, not moving. You can even climb into the boxcars. Get off the coast. ;)

Ghosting,Loot Farming (server hopping),Combat Logging. Possible Solution.
mercules replied to [email protected]'s topic in General Discussion
Ehem... No one "needs" to server hop for loot. I haven't yet and usually end up with a gun, a mag, food/drink/canopener, backpacks, better clothes, and medical gear. I have yet to "server hop" once. Check out this episode and you will clearly see at least one server hopper and I suspect the guys he shot and looted were likely server hoppers too because of the loot they had. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t2CPHHzRrcc Jump forward to about 9 minutes in. You will see Server Hopping, Combat Logging. Now the guys in the group, if they were a group and not a bunch of single players who happened to all log into the same server at the same location, might have gained their gear by running around, but I suspect they were hopping in, grabbing things from a couple barracks, and then hopping to a new server. This actually creates the situation you are saying it solves since instead of someone taking what is there and then leaving these people grab the ammo and clips from multiple servers so all you find is a gun, no ammo on several servers thus making it more likely for those people to hop on a different server to find the ammo server hoppers pulled from the one server. In addition you spend an hour running to a military spawn, but they spend 2 minutes hopping into the server, grab stuff, then another 2 minutes hopping to the next one. Most likely they hit the first one after running there and found a gun and at least a mag. They could move on, but instead they will swipe the mags from half a dozen servers by hopping and leave not just one server lacking a mag, but 6 or so. The don't "need" to hop, they do it get more than they need, to hoard things. THAT screws up the loot tables worse than they are just from loot only spawning on restart. -
Why isn't there an option for both? :) They both have their merits and flaws. As mentioned 5 slots is 5 slots. The Hunter backpack has a greatly reduced silhouette though making you less visible and not blocking your sight as much in FPV. The Green Mountain backpack blends in alright, maybe better as it isn't one lump of color, but it bulks you out in a way that can make you stand out more when skylined or against a light/dark background that doesn't match the colors.
