You would be wrong. I am attempting to find a direct quote from Rocket but the zombies are viral living zombies not Romero style "The Walking Dead" zombies. This is why you can kill a zombie by shooting it in the foot enough times and don't have to headshot everything. Supposedly someone in Rocket's family is in medicine and gave him a pretty good run down of what viral zombism would be like and the 28 Days Later Rage with maybe a more realistic incubation period would be a real world thing. I did a bunch of looking into it and Rabies and Ebola can create agitation in people that leads to violent behavior. A mutated strain(possibly weaponized by someone) would fit very well with the Zeds we deal with in DayZ.

Sick = Death logic (if you don't have antibiotics).
mercules replied to ianramos's topic in General Discussion
You can get over being sick really simply without antibiotics. It's called resting and taking care of yourself. Seriously, if you are sick eat plenty of food, drink lots of fluids, don't run around panting like a dog all the time. Go a bit slower, rest when you start breathing heavy. Taking vitamins seems to help as well. After a while of making sure you are full(not, I am no longer starving for 5 minutes) and taking it easy the sickness will go away. -
No, "I heard someone say." is not a reliable source. You might remember it wrong, or they might not have presented the information correctly. Link the statement if you are going to use it as a source.

Drawing blood from yourself when healthy?
mercules replied to deathrush's topic in General Discussion
Get a second person to use it on you. AKA, Don't shoot everyone in the face and make a friend or invite a friend to play with you. -
It's already on their radar.

Doesn't matter. When my friends and I were attempting to find a server we liked for stability and ping we were switching servers sometimes visiting 3 per day. Gear would be wiped constantly. Since we have stuck to one server we have not encountered a gear wipe. There is a bug, but it is created by changing servers. It's nice that you heard of someone's cousin's best's friend's roomate who once went to school with your sister who had the issue and totally swears it was on the same server, but I don't think that is a valid source of information. Switching servers can cause this bug. Solution: Don't switch servers.

Mouse problems multiple users with issues?
mercules replied to kstrife's topic in General Discussion
It works much the same as the Mod, which is to say we are used to it and so it doesn't give the rest of us fits. We realize the game is not a twitch shooter despite being a shooter and don't have sensitivity on our mice turned up so high that it triggers Mouse Acceleration. I'm so used to it I don't even notice it and can move and shoot accurately. -
The Zeds are not dead, they are infected. We are immune to the virus that has turned them into raging homicidal monsters. Think more, "28 Days Later" where Great Brittian was literally destroyed by the infection in less than 28 days. Halve your timeline and you are probably closer to what was happening if Rocket and crew are going with something similar to the Rage Virus. If it was airborn and not blood/saliva transmitted it could have hopped across Chernarus in days leaving no one uninfected but those survivors immune to the "zombification" of the virus.

fast and highly observant zombies are bad for the game
mercules replied to Antiklimax's topic in General Discussion
No, what he is saying is it's not hard to avoid zombies in their incomplete state. When they get proper pathing in, when the get more zombies in without affecting stability, when all the proper detection comes into play I think zombies will be more than the nuisance they were in the mod. -
Got killed by 4 guys who said they were friendly, what a joke...

So... irony is an interesting word, huh? :) -
Why would VAC have an issue with it? I just ordered a TrackIR with some cash I got from Christmas. It looks like all the configs for it still exist in SA so I would set it up and see what happens.

Abundance of weapons versus abundance of ammunition
mercules replied to AlexLM's topic in General Discussion
What you are most likely running into is server hopping. Go to a big military loot point. Grab a gun, grab all the magazines. Change server. Well, you can't really use a second gun so you grab all the accessories and magazines. Next server, Grab Magazines, Next server... So now you have 1 server where the gun is gone and 6-8 where the ammo is gone but the gun is still sitting there. -
IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THAT. Your system is SOOOO EASY TO EXPLOIT that it is silly beyond comprehension to even waste the time it would take to code it.

Okay... at this point you are trolling. I don't want to get into a "Hardercore than thou" conversation with you. Let me point out that this "hardcore" game has literally hours of of low intensity play, during which you do tend to "chat" with friends. I would be totally happy to play a game that could enforce the rules you are insisting on. However, as I have pointed out it would literally take me all of 30 seconds to bypass your rules. You still haven't addressed the fact that your proposition would be completely and utterly unenforceable and so would really only affect the honest. You tried to deflect it with, "Well no one would do that or it would be a small amount." Which is utter bullshit. Go look at the Mod. The servers that offer the simple and easy way out are often the most populated. That is including those that have starting loadouts for donations and people spend actual money to start the game with a gun. You are telling me those same people wouldn't bypass your "feature" with a 30 second fix for it if they thought it would make the game easier or give them an advantage? You need to rethink that.

Did you shoot your friend on accident? I have in the Mod, several times.
-
Because oddly enough they shoot at me when they know I am there. If I want to talk to my friend about him thinking about a vasectomy then I don't want to have to worry that every bandit in 80 meters has just zoned in on my position and is aiming at me. Since the system is ridiculously simple to exploit it's stupid to put it into the game.
-
Sadly you would still be on the honor system and if I an my friends were playing we would all be in the same channel or conversation or if just two of us playing against two others we would be talking to each other but probably avoiding talking about the cards. Personally I wouldn't play spades online because it is far to easy for someone to cheat.
-
I don't chat with random people online, so what exactly is your point? I talk to people who came to visit me in the hospital when my children were born or were groomsmen at my wedding, one of them the best man. We do so while playing games, specifically DayZ SA. Your proposal would severely cramp that and there is a strong chance we would work around it not to gain an advantage over others, although there would be plenty of people doing it for that reason as well, but so we could have our conversation during the only time we now get together on a regular basis. I don't think you get that playing games online is how a large number of us interact with friends that have moved hours or even days worth of travel away. My closest friend is about a 40 minute drive away and we get together in person probably once a month because we can hop on several times a week and find out what is going on in each other's lives. That is the main reason we play online group based play is to hang out with each other.

"endgame" a myth made up by people who need to be force fed entertainment. End game is turn off the game and go do something else for a bit then come back and play some more at a later time.

3rd person view has exploits <- fact That really isn't an opinion.
-
How would you know? Maybe "your" private life is nothing to discuss, but mine has plenty of importance in it. ;)
-
Nearly all of them given the system you want to use. In games with built in chat my friends and I tend to use third party systems anyway. If we have to join a group with people not in the third party system we communicate what they need to know through the in game and continue to talk outside the game about whatever we want, including how well or poorly these other people play. My phone has a mic that will pick up any conversation nearby. The earbud volume is low enough I can hear friends and still hear ingame sounds. I actually did this once playing from a laptop at a hotel where the network was so bad I could play the game but the extra bandwidth from Skype made it nearly unplayable. It was a good work around to that issue.
-
Ehem, I have expensive headphones but you can do the same with a headset bought for $12 that uses the mic jack and not USB. No way for Windows or DayZ to detect that. Then I plug a set of headphones with an earbud into my smart phone and start up Skype. I can now mute my headphone mic, talk to my friends with perfectly clear sound, and talk in game with a simple press of a single button when I need to. This is not an unreasonable situation to set up for a large number of the player base. Most probably already own the required hardware. If so, it's 30 seconds to set up.

Quantifying would actually lend credence to one's opinion and possible show one to be more valid than another. Opinions are only worth what they are based off of and don't magically become valid by simply being an opinion. I could have the opinion that my boss is an asshole and it could be invalid because the only experience I have with them is through work and they might simply be very impartial and strict concerning work and the most friendly and helpful person you have ever met outside work.
